Video from yesterday's track day at Bedford where the theme of the day seemed to be traffic, traffic mainly caused by powerful cars who were woefully slow in the corners but then just shot off on the straights. The Jag XK R in the video was particularly bad for it. Every session I saw him on was the same - queue of cars waiting to get past him but he'd just shoot off on the straights and not let anyone past.

Finally, I managed to damage the cable connecting the head unit to the screen. Eonon were very good to deal with and sent me out a replacement free of charge which I have now fitted and so have a fully functioning head unit back which is nice. I do wonder if the connection between the head unit and screen is going to prove a weak point and if I was purchasing again I'd maybe look at their in dash version instead although they didn't offer this with quite as a high a spec as the version I have. It may also just have been that I had a slightly dodgy cable to start with so I guess only time will tell.

Next up a few photos from the Bedford trackday I did with @will300 and @VAD17 at the end of August (thanks to Will for sorting the pictures out).

I picked up a fuel container for trackdays as places like Anglesey and Blyton are a bit of a pain for getting VPower. I went with a VP Racing container with filling spout as they seem well regarded on the track groups I'm a member of (and several people from here like @KevinA said they used them and recommended them too).

    Blown Engine?

@GT86Reece I'd suggest having a chat with @Mark Gillam at Abbey Motorsport if Toyota won't play on the warranty front about engine rebuilds / swaps. The prices the dealer have quoted you are just a joke imho. Other options would be @Adrian - tss at Fensport, Rogue Motorsport or @Mike@TD.co.uk at Tuning Developments but I would think Abbey are your closest.

How do you fit your tow loop?

You can get a special tow loop that fits into the oem towing hole from TRD / Sti but they're comedy expensive. There is also another brand that does a similar thing but there name escapes me - it's about £70. Cheaper option is to use tow hooks either oem or aftermarket. I use aftermarket ones front and rear

A couple of laps I found on my dash cam from last month at Anglesey on the Coastal layout which we used in the afternoon.

    Which winter tyre?

I'd happily recommend the Nokian WRA3 or the newer WRA4's. I ran them on both my previous car and on the 86 and they're excellent tyres which seem we'll suited to the UK climate during Winter. I also did the CAT driver training day on them in 30° heat and, while totally out of their comfort zone, they were actually pretty good for that too.

The Project Mu website is quite good for details of the pads if you know which model they are http://www.project-mu.co.jp/en/products/index.html

    Big brake kit time?

If you're after a set of decent hybrid road / track pads there was a front and rear set of Project Mu Hc800+ pads on the Facebook sale group for a good price. (Think it was £300 for front and rear but I can't remember 100%) Tashan also had a bargain Stoptech front BBK listed with a set of brand new PFC.08 endurance pads (amazing pads) for £1000 but I'm not sure if that was snapped up. May be worth a look.

I'm not 100% you'll be overly happy with the new AD08RS tyres unless you can still get hold of the AD08R's where you are? They've altered the compound to improve the fuel consumption and it seems that may be at the cost of some of their grip. At the moment I haven't been able to match the lap time I could get on PS4's and have noticed extra understeer. However, so far the AD08RS use I've had has been in very high temperature whereas my best lap time was set in October so it could just be that.

Honestly @Tubbytommy you can insult me all you like - I find it quite entertaining that that's all a man of your age can manage. Your posts have shown enough for anyone reading them to know how worthwhile your opinion is and the fact you only have insults to fall back on just substantiates that.

👍 I have never said I disliked your car - there's not really much done to it to make it any different to loads of the 86's out there so there's nothing to dislike.

What? You were on about fake ebay items not being as good as originals. I agree. If you don't know about the Varis bonnet benefits and the effects of the Verus splitter and diffuser just Google, you'll find the details fairly easily and the data validation to substantiate it.

Doesn't seem to relate to anything here but OK 🤷‍♂️ Something we can agree on at least I guess 👍

And there shows your complete ignorance for this platform.

    Big brake kit time?

My build thread is here:- I've tried six suspension set ups on the 86 and about 15 spring rate set ups. I've also tried a number of alignment set ups. All of this is actual experience on the 86 platform. I haven't tried a BBk on my 86 (although have driven 86's equipped with them) as I don't need one currently. I nearly purchased one earlier this year but have found that endurance pads and uprated fluid are sufficient for the 20-30 minute stints I run so don't see the point of a BBk although I will consider one in the future for the simple reason of cheaper consumables over all. I've done around 15 trackdays in the 86 and probably a similar amount of Curborough sprints. I've built a number of cars over the last 25 years of driving but none are relevant here as they're not an 86 and what works on one car is not guaranteed to work on another. I'm also not telling people that what I've done to my car is the only way and you can't drive if you do anything different to what I've done 🤷‍♂️

Because you seem to be talking mostly complete shite and coming across as one of those people who think that only their way is correct and everyone else is an idiot. Yet you don't actually seem to have a great deal of evidence or experience on the 86 platform to support what you are saying. You also put kisses at the end of posts, which for an old bloke is feckin weird 🤷‍♂️

Share the pictures of your 86 track days then 👍

    Big brake kit time?

But what's your actual experience on the 86 platform? It appears from your posts there isn't really any? I'm sure we can all bring up stuff from other cars but it's not really relevant to the 86 as it's not the same car

    Big brake kit time?

I'm a bit confused by some of what you wrote previously, so just for clarity, how many track days have you done in the 86 (not other cars)?
