One other useful feature of the head unit I found for pre facelift owners is it will display the battery voltage. Handy considering how quickly the 86 batteries seem to like to discharge!

No problem. This is a link to the stereo:- https://www.eonon.com/mobile/Eonon-Android-9-0-Universal-Double-Din-Car-Stereo-with-Quad-Core-Processor-10-1-Inch-Touchscreen-Support-Bluetooth-5-0-Adjustable-Viewing-Angle.html This is the fitting kit including most of the necessary wiring harnesses:- https://www.dynamicsounds.co.uk/toyota-gt-86-car-stereo-double-din-fascia-wiring-loom-antenna-fitting-kit.html?gclid=CjwKCAjw7uPqBRBlEiwAYDsr16Fe9vK3tIa-qqwGBnKxE9gQzqFyN29zMTbLSVDmTHVprkt2EUq1eRoCn48QAvD_BwE This is the harness needed to keep the USB by the start button working:- https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Car-Stereo-Factory-USB-Retention-Interface-Cabe-Kit-For-Toyota-GT-86-2012-Onward-/262914884030

Thank you. It needs a wiring loom adaptor, an adaptor to keep the USB working by the stop/start button, an aerial adaptor and I bought a fitting kit of brackets and surround. All in it came out as about £315. With the focal too you're looking at about £450. The stereo also comes with a dash cam and reversing cam that you can plug into it too but I haven't fitted those at the moment.

It's an Eonon GA2178. The display is 10.1". I already had the focal speaker upgrade which made a difference over Oem but this has made an even bigger difference. As a cheap upgrade package the focals and this head unit seem very good.

Got the head unit fitted with help from @Dilan and Ariston from the FB group. Genuinely can't belive the difference in sound quality over oem!

I did a trackday at Blyton Park yesterday. Despite the weather forcast (and the weather most of the country seemed to get) Blyton wasn't too bad. It rained on and off throughout the day making the track quite greasy even when it dried out from the fairly strong winds. It was really nice to meet up with Michael and Andrew and their respective 86's too. A video of one of the sessions I did comprising a couple of warm up laps, a few normal laps and a cool down. There was a nice mix of cars in attendance so a good mixture of cars to chase, overtake or be overtaken by and driving standards were generally very good which was nice.

The new copy of Evo arrived through the post today and they have their annual tyre test. The test size was 225/40/18 and the test car a Golf GTi. The test was carried out at Pirelli's test track. Possibly unsurprisingly (depending how cynical you are) Pirelli's P-Zero Came first. The Michelin PS4 came second and Continental Premium Contact 6 came third. The interesting bit was right at the end of the article though. They also tested the Maxxis Victra Sport 5 but didn't include it officially in the test as it was supplied to them by Maxxis as they couldn't purchase them from the UK wholesale market (not really sure why as a quick look on tyre reviews suggests they're easily available 🤷♂️). The Maxxis took part in all the same tests as the others and would have been the overall winner had it been officially included. They commented that it 'has great feel and performs very well in the wet and the dry', it was the cheapest tyre they tested and was 'top in some tests, near the top in most and scored well subjectively'. May be a good option to try, especially for those who maybe don't want to spend the money for the PS4's which most of us use and is generally regarded as about the best normal road tyre for this platform.

In the Evo one the Nokians came joint 4th with Dunlop Sport Maxx Rt2 and the Falkens came 7th
-
They have the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 included. They came 6th (out of 7)

The suspension covers are part of the 'pack' - if you don't have the pack you don't get the pack discount so it probably won't actually reduce it that much.

And why Nicola will never see the invoices for mine! 😂

New head unit and assorted wiring and stuff arrived today. This looks like it'll be fun to fit...

Nige got banned so you won't get a response I'm afraid.

This video is a pretty good illustration of why the hbs makes such a difference compared to a normal rubber bump stop
-
The hydraulic bump stop in the Flex A's makes them difficult to top in your stated price range because it's so good at taking out the harshness of big bump hits and nothing else (in that price range) seems to use one.
-
Flex A's sound like just what you're after for how you want to use them

Google suggested the 8.5" are about 9.5kg and the 9.5" about 10kg a corner

I'm selling my CG Lock as I've fitted the Schroth harnesses now. The CG Lock is in excellent condition and, as these are no longer available, like rocking horse poo to get hold of. I'm looking for £50 collected or with postage at cost. I'm based on the West Mids / South Staffs border but regularly travel to Bedford and Tewkesbury so I'm quite happy to meet up to save the postage costs. Thank you
-
The killer thing for the price ordering direct is the shipping, vat, import duty and import fees bump the price right up. Obviously Tegiwa's shipping price will also have to reflect these too but hopefully for a bulk order the cost will be lower overall

It's these @Mike https://www.verus-engineering.com/product-page/zn6-diff-rear-suspension-covers

Couple of videos and photos from Bedford

Tyres were faultless and wear looks very consistent across the tyres

Had an awesome day at Bedford yesterday with @willclarke and @will300. Car was absolutely faultless even in the near 30° heat and it was me giving out way before the car! Oil temps never got over 116° even after an 8 lap stint. Running with the bonnet vents open seems to be good for around a 10° reduction in oil temperature as @will300 was running around 10° higher than me and we have the same oil cooler. The pfc.08 pads were absolutely faultless - stopping power was incredible, pedal feel was really good and they showed no sign of fade. Will gave me some caliper temperature stickers which showed the calipers were getting plenty warm but still no sign of fade The AD08RS's were also excellent with fantastic grip and minimal wear in the high temperatures although even they went off a bit after about 3 laps in the high afternoon temperatures. Schroth Asm 3 harnesses were also really good and gave a really nice sense of connection to the car. Couple of random pictures from the day

Removed the bonnet vent covers ready for tomorrow at Bedford as it's supposed to be really warm. Be interesting to see what difference the vents do actually make to underbonnet temperatures.
