    Wheels, getting confused

    1. Loads of choices for where depending on the wheels you settle on - wheelbase, demon tweeks, Amber Performance, etc 2. Stock are 17x7" et48 3. 18's will fit fine 4 & 5. These are just personal choice really, Google ones you like and see if there are pictures fitted to an 86/brz/frs 6. Some places will fit and balance, some won't just depends where you buy from 7. Not really. Just make sure you have the right bolt pattern and centre bore / necessary spigot rings (most places will supply these anyway) 8. Brand will come down to the style you want. Konig are fine. The wheels you've pictured were mine. They are some of the only ones with a ring on - you'll limit you're choice a lot if that's a must have. A 17x8 or 18x8 et35 is a good suggestion for a more flush look but you will need to lower it really for it to look properly decent.

    How to select Exhaust Manifold

@matrixprotein you might want to speak to Rogue Motorsport about a manifold - their's would work well with an SC as it has no pipe up in the bay, has the quality of the Ace stuff and it makes big gains in power and torque while costing around £1000. Have a look on my build thread here for some pictures

    How to select Exhaust Manifold

I'm not 100% sure on this but I think you may have an issue with the TD manifold pipe in the engine bay getting closer than would be ideal to the cosworth set up.

It's pretty much impossible to remove the torque dip without a long tube header (of either the TD type which goes up into the engine bay, or this type that uses the overpipe as part of the manifold runner) so while manifolds like the JDL, Tomei etc will help they won't remove it. The sound is now swapped from the UEL burble to the El noise (not sure how to describe that to be honest!) I still have the same catback (HKS HiPower Spec L) so apart from the burble the general sound is similar. No rasp or anything I've noticed and my set up is definitely on the quieter end of the spectrum so I don't have track day noise limit problems. Probably best described as sounding quite like stock but with a deeper, bassier note. I'll get some videos using the same external mic set up as the videos I've posted with the JDL which should give a pretty good comparison.

After I collected the car I took it up to Mike and TD for him and Nick to work their magic on the mapping. My car has always dyno'd pretty low but the gains the new manifold and intake set up have made are pretty significant even over the decent gains the JDL had made. The torque dip is now a peak. One slightly unexpected thing is that the new set up has lost a little bit to the JDL set up around the 5.5-6.5k rpm range but then picks up again after that. The difference low down is very noticeable though especially in normal driving where you can really feel the extra power and torque. First dyno picture is the new set up against the JDL catless manifold, second is the new set up against the first set up I had dyno'd at td (Cobra non res catback, intake pipe, HKS panel filter and EcuTek map)

It is a similar design ethos to the Ace manifolds and basically combines the best bits of the Ace 350 and 400 manifolds. Gains are pretty impressive across the board but especially in the torque dip area with gains of over 20lbft and almost 20hp over the JDL set up.

While the car was at Rogue Motorsport they also made me a manifold/overpipe combo to try along with a new sports cat pipe with an extra resonator added. It's a work of art and seems a massive shame for it to be hidden away under the car! And a picture on the car showing the sports cat and resonator section too
  11. I've swapped my manifold so have my JDL Uel Manifold for sale. The JDL manifolds are some of the best regarded in the US and cost a lot to get into the UK once shipping, import tax and duties are added. The manifold is also ceramic coating which also adds to the cost. The manifold started off as a catted manifold but the cat died (as catted aftermarket manifolds are prone to) and so the cat section was removed and replaced professionally by Rogue Motorsport. The manifold also comes with an overpipe. To get this manifold in the UK you'd be looking at around £1200 when the coating, shipping and taxes are taken into account plus the cost of an overpipe. I'm looking for £500 collected for the manifold and overpipe. I also have a sports cat pipe available which was made by Rogue Motorsport (see separate ad here) If anyone is interested in the manifold and overpipe as well as the sports cat front pipe I'd do the whole lot for £700. You'd only need a cat back then to have a full exhaust system for you 86/BRZ. I'm located on the West Mids / South Staffs border but regularly travel to Bedford and Tewkesbury so I'm quite happy to meet up. Any questions, please ask.
  12. You're a braver man than me trusting Wolves with it @Lucas@PartBox. They 'did' my cam plate cover leak when I first had the car and before I knew of Richard and RRG. When it started leaking again RRG sorted it for me and Wolves seemed to have used something akin to bathroom sealant to 'solve' the problem. Needless to say I've never used them again!
  13. The issue is a Subaru issue so definitely not immune I'm afraid.

This is a video of the above parts combined with a HKS HiPower Spec L cat back exhaust recorded using an external mic.

Collected my car today from Rogue Motorsport after having a few bits done including a custom airbox for the HKS filter to prevent the heat soak it suffered being an open filter. The box is wrapped in heat protective material on the bottom half and after an approx 70 mile drive was barely lukewarm so seems to be doing its job well.

Lowering + Bigger Wheels vs Speed bumps

Changing the wheel size won't change the arch gap only changing the tyre size will do that and if you go too far off you will throw the speedo way off. So with an 18" wheels you'll have a lower profile tyre than you would with a 17" To get rid of the gap you'll need to lower it really.
