I've always found the shift on my car (especially into 2nd) to be a little problematic when it's cold. I saw someone in an American group who fitted a shifter extension and said it made a massive difference. A quick look on ebay revealed this would cost me a whole £2.20 to try so I ordered one. The aesthetic is a bit meh but the effect is impressive. The shift even when cold is absolutely no problem now and shifts just need the lightest movement of the shifter. @will300 tried it in his car and was impressed enough to order one for himself which I know he's had fitted for a few days now and is still a fan. I definitely prefer the shift with the extender on when the cars cold but possibly prefer the non extender shift when it's warm. In the original post I'd seen they combined the shifter extension with a short shifter and I can see how this would be a perfect combination. If you've got a slightly reluctant gearbox and can live with the look then I'd say it's £2.20 well spent!

And fitted. There is a really nice induction noise under full throttle and at higher revs. It also made the space for the oil cooler lines that I wanted. I'm having a few other exhaust bits done and then the mapping will be tweeked so I'll post up what results it gives.

I also got round to assembling the hks induction kit ready for fitting. I fitted some heat reflective material to the heat shield to help minimise the temps.

Picked up some Ate type 200 break fluid that was on a really good offer to try for this year's track days.

    Tyres???

I usually find love tyres or oponeo to be the best for price and I've never had any issues using either.

I ordered them on line. Think it was from oponeo

    GoPro for track days

Happy to have helped 😁 I'm not quite sure what you mean by put it together - I used Harry's for the overlay? The mic is clipped to the bottom of the rear plate between the tailpipes. By reading from the phone do you mean the data? That's from Harry's if so. I've always preferred driving in gloves do definitely more comfortable for me but I know some people don't like it. The ones I use are some kart gloves I've had for years and fit like the proverbial glove so they're super comfy.

    GoPro for track days

I use either the Hague headrest mount giving this sort of view:- (Camera is a Sony A200 with external mic) Or I stuck a go Pro style mount on the front bumper which gives this sort of view:- (Camera is an SJ Cam but I hadn't quite tightened the mount enough which is why it's a bit wonky) Both videos were at Bedford with Javelin and they were happy with both mounting options.
  12. Yep that's no problem. @Whitey29wants the new one and the other so just the hks one is left now 👍

    Eibach camber bolts

An, I'd forgotten about this, bump! 😁
  14. I really like some of their products (like butter wet wax) but I just buy it through Amazon. I did buy some stuff from them years ago which was all good but I'd heard they can be a bit ropey now. Shame.

    86 feels unsettled over bumps

I'd say traction control too. It doesn't always seem to flash up on the dash when it intervenes.

    Best catback exhaust

I'd definitely agree with at @faith - get along to some meets and listen to them in person. I had a cobra resonated system but it became too loud for me to get on track once I had a manifold fitted. I changed to a HKS HiPower Spec L cat back as I'd always loved the look and wanted something that was quiet so I'd have no problems for track. I'd have no hesitation running a TD system either.

    Best catback exhaust

Nope it's including VAT for a catback system. It is a single outlet system though.

    Best catback exhaust

Cheapest HKS catback on Amber has a list price of £750 including VAT and then they have a couple of £900 options.

    Your Fuel Economy?

Mines usually around 32 using the cars readout. I usually fill up with about a quarter tank left and tend to get 220-250 miles to the three quarters I have used.

Gearbox issue improved by thinner oil

No problem with normal daily driving - reminds me of the EP3 CTR I had for position. Reverse lockout is no real problem as I said, you can still do it one handed but you just hold the shaft rather than the shift knob. Throws are longer yes - the one I'd originally read about was paired with a TRD short shifter and I could imagine that being pretty much perfect for throw. For just under £2.20 and about 60 seconds install time though it's definitely worth a try as if you don't like like it it's hardly the biggest loss!

Gearbox issue improved by thinner oil

I saw someone on an American Facebook group using a shift extender and claiming it made a massive difference. I was very skeptical but found I could pick one up very cheaply from ebay so thought I'd give one a try. The difference is night and day. First day I'd fitted it I drove to work in -2 and had no problems at all with any shifts (unheard of!) I removed it on Saturday so I could do the same journey back to back without it and then put it on and see how it was. The difference really is massive. @will300 tried it on his car and was also impressed (impressed enough to order one shortly afterwards). The look is a bet meh but it's definitely effective for improving the difficult shifts into second (and all the other gears). Engaging reverse is also no real problem and can still be done with one hand as you just hold onto the extension bar as you lift the reverse lockout. The shift requires barely any effort to get into gear - and that's maybe the one downside - if you are particularly heavy handed the extra leverage provided may not be the best for you (or your gearbox).
