If you're not going to be fi for quite some time I wouldn't worry about it as it's not really necessary for na. If you intend to track a lot an oil cooler of some type would be a good idea as the engine temperatures really climb on track and lead to quite a drop in oil pressure.

GROUP PURCHASE Discounts on Whiteline Suspension bits Available!

This is an awesome deal @Lucas@PartBox! -
The AP kit from Ryland is a good buy and where my money will eventually be going.
-
The grooved discs will only really give a little extra bite of the pads onto the disc but on the downside will wear them quicker they won't help with overheating.
-
This is quite useful:-

Castrol srf if you want the best. Rbf 660 or ate type 200 are also very well rated (and much cheaper).
-
Higher temp thermostat for the oil cooler fitted today. Seems to have given around a 10° increase in oil temps but have only driven it once since fitting so I'll see what effect it has over a few weeks. Oil temps were in the mid to high 80's at 7° ambient temperature which seems reasonable.
-
That's for the external grooves. The AP original discs have curved internal vanes for potentially better cooling.
-
The sti brembo set up changes the brake balance. You'd be better off with the AP kit like @will300 has. Using the Ryland discs that comes out around £1600 if I remember correctly. Looking on the 86 track groups the perceived wisdom is that there doesn't appear to be any benefit to any different types of disc over oem or Stoptech centric blanks. Would it be worth considering a track pad (like the clubracers) and just swapping them in for track work while running 'normal' pads like the pfc's for street use?
-
It does just slower without the cooler covered. I only do short journeys (7 miles) when I use the car for work so I'm probably not that typical for most people. I've also got a slightly higher temp thermostat to go in.
-
Got a little ghetto to see what effect blocking the airflow off to the oil cooler has and the answer (unsurprisingly) is quite a lot (around 10° increase in normal driving) Now to make a slightly better looking version using some clear perspex.

Yes. I also still have the stock second cat though.

I picked it up used so difficult to say. The video is using an external mic 👍
-
I've got the Jdl catted Uel manifold which is basically the same as the one on the link. Video clip below of how it sounds paired with a Hks HiPower Spec L exhaust:-

The tuning developments set ups seems to be the best balance of price and performance. Speak to @Mike@TD.co.uk

Looking at doing another Midlands lunch meet on Saturday October 28th. Proposed venue is The Barn at Lichfield (http://www.thebarnatlichfield.co.uk/) Plenty of parking, easy to get to from main routes and the food is really good. Pop your name down below please if you'd be up for it. I'll give them a call at the end of the week and book us a table(s). Cheers! 1. Deacon 2. Will300 3. Keethos

Swapped onto my winter wheels and tyres today as no more track days for me until the spring. I also gave the suspension a good coating with Acf50 after their recent rebuild.

From what I've seen from the temperature and pressure gauge I have fitted, both pre and post oil ccooler, 10psi at idle when hot is not unusual and any throttle input (or the ac compressor kicking in) will quickly raise the oil pressure again.
-
@alucardo I'm not really familiar with the scale of measurement you're using for the oil pressure. Mine is measuring in psi from the block. I see the pressure drop to about 7/8psi at the lowest when the car is hot and idles (e.g. after I've just come into the pits on a track day). I also have an oil cooler fitted and am running Millers Nanodrive 0w30 so slightly thicker than the stock 0w20.

Someone from the restaurant came out and was just really rude. Basically told us it wasn't a place for a car meet and to bugger off. But when we said we've just spent over £300 he buggered off.

Today's little addition to the maintenence and upgrade process:- Many thanks to @Lucas@PartBox for bringing them along to the Midlands meet 👍
