  1. Link to the Toyota blog below:- http://blog.toyota.co.uk/2017-gt86-new-york-auto-show Key points seem to be new front bumper, rear lights and alloy wheels on the outside. On the inside new trim including alcantara binnacle cover and audio controls on the wheel. Retuned and uprated suspension but no engine changes.

    Carbon Bumpers anyone?

They're not my thing but good luck with it 🖒

    Carbon Bumpers anyone?

Although this will look nice it won't be very day to day practical as cf will crack and break if you cach it rather than bend like the oem plastic bumpers won't it?

    Bilstein B14 coilovers - review

It doesn't take much adjusting with a single adjustable set up though. Most dampers only have about 16 clicks of adjustment anyway (no matter how many they claim) and so it doesn't take long to work through and try them all!
  10. Maybe the previous owner Chris @Xrkc6x has some dyno plots? Good luck with the sale 🖒

That should make a very decent fitment 🖒 Look forwards to seeing the pictutes with them on.

Grabbed a quick picture today of how it's currently sitting on the Motons after I had it raised approximately 10mm when I was last there:-

I forget to add the picture of the new rear remote reservoir positioning earlier:- Should keep them better out of the way of dirt and debris.

Sadly I'm not well enough to make it today 😭 I was somewhat doubtful on the spring suggestions too but it's definitely not too soft. In fact I think version three will be the way forwards as at present version two is still too stiff I think for the dreadful UK roads. The Motons really can support a very low (or indeed high) spring rate but revalving to a softer set up will be needed to really exploit them on bumpy B roads with possibly a slight increase in spring rate.

    Help with wheel offsets

Stock offset is 48. On stock suspension you can pretty much fit what you want but if you ever want to lower the car at all that will alter your choices as with lowering springs you'll have to be really carefull with anything above about 8.5 inches wide or you'll foul the suspension. Coilovers give you a lot more freedom as by their nature they are smaller and the springs stick out less giving you more room for wheels. If you fit new wheels you will want to lower it too as non standard wheels do seem to look a bit silly/weird with stock ride heights. I have 17x9 et42, 17x7 et40 and 17x7.5 et35. The 17x9's fill the arches the best then the 17x7.5's and the 17x7's the least. My suggestion would be to look for a 17x8 et35 as that would do a pretty good job of filling the arches nicely as it brings the wheel edge out 25mm bit doesn't go any closer towards the strut. If you're not lowering and go for at least 8" wide wheels you could also fit a 235/45/17" tyre which will raise your ground clearance 10 mm but also take away 10 mm of arch gap giving the same effect as if the car was lowered 10mm. These will lose a little precision due to the extra sidewall height but will also gain you a little comfort from the extra compliance. They'll also almost correct the speedo read error so when it says 50mph you'll actually be doing pretty much 50mph. This site is really good to play around with:- www.willtheyfit.com Hope that helps too!

No as Moton want to get them 100%

So I spent the day with Moton yesterday sorting out version two. The springs were changed to softer and longer front and rear (5kg front and 3kg rear after having tried 5/4 too). The rear helper springs were also removed as they were unnecessary with the longer springs on the rear, they remained at the front though. The rear compression damping was reduced and the gas pressure was set to suit the new setup front and rear. This is a marked improvement in ride quality for UK roads and circuits such as the nurburgring with big bumps, dips and compressions. The rear reservoirs were also moved to a more out of the way location to protect them from weather and road debris better. Sadly it wasn't possible to mount them in the boot as I'd hoped as the grommets for the abs cables are not big enough to allow the reservoir hoses through too (they are 30mm hoses plus fittings) and I didn't want holes drilled in the boot floor. I am testing these for the next two weeks when I will have the chance to sample them on normal roads, motorways and also at Curborough before going back again for version three. The plan for version three is to change the valving and piston to soften the dampers off and then possibly step back up on the spring rates as there remains a little 'bounce' in the ride. There is also a noise at the rear moton want to eliminate. I have to say dealing with AST / Moton has been an absolute pleasure and the thoroughness of their work is very impressive.

    More Wheels

The Impreza was a 5x100 and changed to 5x11.3 so he way just be not well informed. The phone thing is a bit weird. I also think they're a bit overpriced for just wheels as it suggests the tyres are no good.

    More Wheels

I'd be careful and double check the pcd - when you zoom on the picture of the back of a wheel it seems to suggest they are 5x114.3

Pretty sure I'm right in saying that I've tried my four set ups all on the same suspension set ups so that at least can be eliminated as a factor.

Some of the rota offerings or the TD's then would fit that bill fairly well. Just depends if you like the styles!

    Wheels

This is an interesting point but goes against the experience I've had. I've run the 86 on four sets of wheels, all of different weights and different sizes (although all have been 17's). I've found the lightest ones have also given the better ride comfort.

It depends what your budget is really. TD prorace 1.2's would give you the sort of size and weight you want as would several of the rota wheels for a reasonable price. At the more expensive end something like TWF wheels from Japan would give you a considerable weight saving over stock but you're looking at a couple of thousand pounds for a set.
