11.3 kg is 2.2 kg heavier than the stock 17" wheels. That's an extra 8.8 kg and rotational mass is usually considered to be worth 3x the weight so an extra 26.2kg extra. That's a noticeable amount!

The front bumper looks too body kit to me. Reminds me of a fast and the furious film 1 era veilside esq kit.
-
Half clicks and quarter clicks I believe.

Ah ok - it was the spring rate that confused me. The street advances are 5kg front and rear - were yours a revalved special order? The flex z's don't have the hbs only the flex a's (and then some of the higher end stuff) so they are effectively the same as the street advances but with a replaceable damper and stiffer spring rate. Edfc may well be a good shout for what you want to achieve. My hesitation would be in spending that much in comparison to the cost of the suspension it'll be fitted to. You're welcome to come out in mine at the next meet to see what the arb's are like (although mines on non teins now).
-
@S18 RSG which teins are you on out of curiosity?
-
Lol! Hadn't noticed that! One thing to bear in mind on the sizes is that the solid bars will be thinner than the hollow ones but the roll stiffness will be the same.
-
I've got the whiteline front and rear adjustable bars. I run the front at the softest of the two settings and the rear at the stiffest of the three settings (or at least did while I was on the Tein Flex A's). From memory I think it's a 20mm front, 16mm rear. I've had them on for the last year and never had an issue on road or track.
-
I have flung mine into corners at Curborough far faster than you could ever do on the public road and never lifted a wheel so I don't think that'll be an issue mate.
-
I've got the whiteline adjustable front and rear arb's on mine and have been very happy with them. I've also got a front and rear strut brace and the trd door braces to help stiffen the chassis. A number of the stock bushes have also been uprated.
-
At the moment it's way too stiff for bumpy back road use but would make an excellent track setting. This was version one to try though so I knew it was likely to need some more work. I'm back in on the 23rd for different springs (softer front and rear and longer front and rear) and helpers (softer to help keep the softer springs well seated) to be fitted and the gas pressure to be readjusted to suit the new set up.

Mx5 is way better looking imho - the overhangs are just wrong on the fiat (especially at the back) and it looks so bloated.

So I had the Motons fitted last Thursday and was able to grab a few pictures which I thought I'd add here. Motons ready to go on:- Comparison of a front Moton and front Flex A:- Comparison of the rears:- Comparison between a whiteline adjustable droplink on the right and a moton one on the left:- Rear remote reservoir location:- I also grabbed a couple of pictures of the 911 GT3 brake ducts that were fitted a while ago. Final picture shows the deflector on the front bumper (right on the picture) fitted as stock and how this guides the air towards the GT3 brake ducts (left on the picture) which then guide it towards the brakes themselves:-

Car looks bonkers and the exhaust is a work of art. Very nice 😈

GT86/BRZ/FR-S Manifold/Headers From Tuning Developments
Deacon replied to Mike@TD.co.uk's topic in Tuning Developments
I've had some quotes for manifold and overpipe coating that range from about £300 to about £800. Not the TD one specifically though. -
Sadly @Ade I don't have those details available.
-
Will do @Ade I'm at moton in the morning about 10.30 for the day to try some spring set ups and settle on what works best. Plan then is I'll go home and try it on my local roads and then go back again, if needs be, to tweek the spring rates further.
-
But then loose the advantage on corners with the extra roll potentially. Swings and roundabouts - no one set up will suit everything. Ideally you'd swap springs and set ups for every event but obviously that's not realistic in the real world.
-
More travel shouldn't make a huge difference on most tracks (apart from things like the nurburgring!) And the adjustbality is theoretically no different to on a set of kwv3's for instance. Where these should excel is on the road - especially bumpy a and b roads as you'll be able to run them soft and still keep lots of travel without riding the bump stops (as Ade said).
-
I didn't bring the tss up - you and Sam did. In terms of cost a set of the tein monosports (for instance) and the edfc pro set up is just over £2k - hardly cheap! And that's before the fitting costs which are higher than normal coilovers.
-
They are street coilovers going on a street car though? They will improve the ride not the track performance. To be honest it's a moot point for me anyway as I'm very unlikely to do the tss.
-
I've emailed through the tss Web site and asked the question. As I said, I don't really see why edfc would be ok in street class and remote reservoirs not.
-
Yeah - apart from it being in the regulations and edfc not (maybe because it wasn't common / available when the javelin regs were done?) I think edfc probably gives more advantage than remote canisters do.
-
Thinking on it - why would remote reservoirs alter the class anymore than something like edfc would?
-
No idea - haven't looked at it.

Tim on the other side had them for sale having covered a grand total of 15 miles. They are Moton Clubsport 2 way adjustables which are Motons road and occasional track set up. The price was too good to pass up as they would be just shy of £3700. I've always wanted to try some really good suspension on the 86 and saw this as my opportunity. The flex a's are the best sub £1500 coilovers available for the 86 in my opinion but these should be another level. One of the beauty of Motons is that the way they are valved allows a huge range of springs to be used without requiring revalving - we are going to begin by trying a 7/7kg main spring to see how that is and change from there if needed. The remote gas canister allows a softer spring to be used and a higher gas pressure to support the car so it may be we go down to something like a 5/5 set up. I'll still be able to take part in tss and see what my times are - they'd just put me in a class where I couldn't win (as would the trd canards until recently!)
