Thanks folks! ☺ I thought that style would.suit the 86 and I'm pretty pleased with the way they look fitted. Definitely better than running around on the stock wheels for the next 6 months!
-
Couple of quick fitted pics:- I have raised it a touch but it's literally just off the jacks so should settle a little lower.
-
Was thinking they'd be a bit small! Put me down for a small if that one we discussed is doable please!
-
Cheers! Can I just check - in presume the sizes are inches not cm?
-
Any luck with the order we talked about Rob?
-
I do. I'll bring mine and also I think someone wanted to use the infrared thermometer I have. But I can't remember who or what for! I'll bring that along too.

Sorry to hear about this. The bonnet is aluminium, the doors are steel.

Welcome on board!

Couple of updates for this. Got some new winter wheels:- And some new wheel nuts for when I get them on:- Decided to go with a set of RAYS closed ended nuts as all the other sets (5!) I've had have either corroded, chipped or are open ended and so lead to the studs corroding.

Northern Meet/Open Day @ Tuning Developments

I'm in. Oops - seems I'm out. Got a wedding on the 31st. -
Bit of an update to this. I got to spend Saturday on another Mazda event (with Keith and Will) and did about 130 miles-ish in a 1.5 sport. There were a few things I'd like to add from what I'd originally said about the new MX5. On the original mazda event I just had the roof down all the time so I have now had chance to see what it's like with the roof up. The good - the roof mechanism is VERY easy to use. The bad - with the roof closed it is a bit claustrophobic in there and I wouldn't be able to wear a helmet in the car with the roof up as I only have about an inch from the top of my head to the roof. A few other negatives threw themselves up too. There is literally no storage space inside the cabin. I put my phone in the tray near the AC and that was it. The cup holders fill the cupboard behind you between the seats and if you use the cup holders they block the opening of the cupboard. The cupboard between the seats is basically filled if you put the key in it. I don't like driving with my wallet in my back pocket but there was literally nowhere to put it - I had to just hand it to Nicola to hold. I could see the lack of any storage being a bit of a pita on a daily basis. Next the steering. It has a horrible dead spot around the centre where basically you can turn the wheel a few degrees either way and nothing happens. But then once you get past that it seems to 'catch-up' the steering it had missed and the extra lock you've added. There were a couple of times at the start of the day I could easily have clipped a curb or a roundabout as I was caught out by this and had added too much lock to overcome this deadness. My other big gripe would be that the peddles are offset to the right. The dead peddle is where the clutch should be in relation to the seat. On a short drive it's not a major issue but as the day wore on I did find it getting a bit uncomfortable. I also had the back end out twice - once unexpectedly and once provoked - I felt it slides easier than the 86 does which surprised me (that may be because I've got used to the semi-track tyres on mine though). I can see it could catch a few people out though especially in bad weather as these two slides were on bone dry roads in 20 degree heat. I did still really enjoy it though and can still see me owning one at some point even if it's not quite all as rosey as I'd initially thought!

If it's a BRZ the question surely is have they shaved its 'tache? 😁

The lack of top mounts accounts for most of that price reduction I think. I'm sure they're about £300 per pair if you buy them!

As my summer tyres are a bit melted from the last two sprints and as it's heading towards winter time I decided it was time to get myself some new winter wheels sorted as the thought of another 6 months on the stock wheels didn't sit well (I'm not a fan!) Wheels are 17x7.5 and I'm going to transfer over my existing winter tyres (Nokian WRA3's in stock size). I had no idea on the weight of the wheels when I ordered them and wasn't too bothered as they are just to be winters but I was pleasantly surprised to find they only weigh 7.4kg each. They are nothing fancy but I quite like them and they look fairly easy to clean! 😆
-
That seems very heavy for a forged wheel? Maybe part of the weight is from where you had the buckle (or was it a crack?) repaired and the red powder coat?
-
1x track tyres, 1x winters and 1x v105's with the stock wheels with nothing on Sam.
-
My back has me out of action at present but I'm hoping to get the tyres swapped sometime this week or next and then the wheels fitted this weekend or next. You're welcome to try my summers to see how they look once they're off. I'm hoping the winters will sit a little better as they should stick out about 11mm further than my summers. Plan is that the black and yellow ones will keep the track tyres on and be my Curborough dry wheels. These ones will be my winters and then next spring I'm going to get another set with something like v105's to be my daily wheels and Curborough wets. 16 wheels for one car, that's not excessive is it? 😀

Cheers! Fox fx005 Keith

Welcome to the club!

Yep I quite like them (far more than the stock wheels that's for sure!) and Will did me a photoshop a while back which I liked so I decided to pick a set up.
-
I was pleasantly surprised by the weight especially considering the cost. As I said they are nothing fantastic - Fox fx005 17x7.5 et35.

He also found the perfect way to make the new posts function pretty much irrelevant! :-)

ark grip for resonated milltek or uel?

That's what I feared Keith. GLWTS anyway Dan! -
Winters on 17's for me for the past 2 years. Be careful of your tyre choice though - we don't have particularly bad winters here - so choose your tyre accordingly. I run Nokian WRA3's. They are sold as a full winter over here but in some parts of Europe are sold as an all season tyre. They work fantastically for UK winters. When I had the car on primacy's for the summer and the Nokian's for the winter I prefered the car on the Nokian's by quite some margin.

How many mm are you lowered and do you still have the titanium tips?
