Suggestions please for the best route for the cable from rear screen to the centre cigar lighter socket, if anyone has done this.

Thanks Ian. That may be a better option, save drilling the storage box.

Finally got round to fitting this. Reverse light much brighter now.

Seen at Geneva yesterday. Toyota C-HR

Today we extensively tested a hybrid and manual, back to back on same roads. Fortunately the dealer was closed apart from sales, so customers were almost non-existent, and we could play to our heart's content. We both felt that the extra weight of the hybrid suited the car. The manual felt lighter and a little more skittish over a bumpy b road route. we also liked the consistent amount of acceleration provided by the hybrid. The manual was much more affected by the revs and gearing and whether the turbo was on song. The electric motor provided the same degree of acceleration when you floored it, no matter what the speed. And in traffic - no contest. The hybrid is an extra £2500 yes, but felt like the engineers tuned the suspension and dynamics for the heavier car. I never thought it, but we are going to go for a hybrid, for March delivery!! -

Roll on Jan 2nd. At the dealers for a long test drive of both manual and hybrid versions of CH-R and Auris. By the way, these are not being considered as a replacement for our GT86 !! I'm not THAT bonkers! An Auris might be considered as a fill-in until a CH-R with pano roof and a bigger engine comes along. -

Yes Rob, it is surprisingly good. I was not expecting much at all. It is still a lot of metal on those rear corners though. -

Coupla pics from the second test drive. Still surprised how well it managed the twisties round Beachy Head (on 18" Primacies). Excellent turning circle too. Also tried the Hybrid..................................... !!! -
Got a fab Xmas card as a reminder of the event of the year for me!!

I like the Elegant Ice Style of the two Modellistas. Got the black one again for the afternoon, and gonna try the auto hybrid for comparison purposes hopefully tomorrow. -
I recently had to do a rather sharp pull away at about 5k revs in first gear. Rear tyres lit up and had the familiar burnt rubber smell just for a moment or two as I drove away. Since then, in the first few minutes of gentle driving from cold, I get what I would call a clutch smell / burnt oil. This goes away very soon and is gone until my next cold start, when the symptoms return only to disappear once engine warm. There are no mechanical symptoms associated with this, and the car performs well. Any ideas?

I think you are helping, because it is very easy to get swept away based on a few considerations. Looking at this marmite design from a different viewpoint does help to ensure all aspects are fully considered. I would really like a 2.0 petrol, as available in some markets I believe. -

I know what you are saying, but most of the positive comments are coming from people who have seen it in the flesh. Also the colour affects the look. What colour have you seen "in the flesh"? I have tried not to like it, so I don't spend the money, but...........another longer test drive next week beckons. -

Had this 1.2 turbo manual for a drive-about yesterday. Felt very nippy for a 1.2 and roadholding and steering were surprisingly good. 10 secs to 60 but it seemed livelier (not run in properly either) Visibility from the back seats was also a lot better than expected. One of these may be on the shopping list to replace the Legacy! -
Probably won't make this now. Babysitting grand children on the cards as both parents likely working. We shall see. Hope it's a good one!

Hoping to be there!

Like the improvements to the inside, but that front........................................................

Such a lovely car. Very sad news.

Thanks to everyone for your advice. Much appreciated!

Interested to know, does a 225/45 not work as well as a 215/45 on the standard rim? Any advice/opinion appreciated.

There are very few places in the Sussex, Surrey, Hants area where you can safely express all of that kind of power on a regular basis. And at my age (over 60) even the pleasure of track driving was beginning to wane. A built Impreza was no longer for me! The huge advantage with the GT, as far as i am concerned, is that i can have fun at 30mph before i even get properly off the housing estate. Just driving down my road creates the first smile. That is how good this car is, IMHO. I really enjoyed it N/A, and I really enjoy it S/C. But I reckon above about 280 BHP, you do lose the essence of what the GT is all about, as discussed above. When Julia and I test drove the supercharger option we went with, the test car had OEM brakes and was wearing primacies. The only upgrade was the exhaust and supercharger. It was given a thorough workout by both of us, and we were amazed at how well the power delivery matched the standard components. Julia had resisted going S/C because she liked the car as it was, but the test drive convinced her that the car's character could be maintained. When we placed our order, it was to get exactly the spec of car we test drove. We have not regretted that decision. Hopefully you can see from that blurb where our priorities lay.

Hi Chris I'm on the south coast in Sussex, and, like Kevin, happy to hook up for 86 chat. Agree with Knightryder, having come from an Impreza with similar power, to an S/C GT, the whole experience is very different.
