Hi Nik Just unclipped the old unit and plugged in the new. There is a red wire that can be attached to deliver other combinations of lighting. I have not pursued this yet. Swapping the units was quite fiddly due to lack of space between the back box and bumper. Keith

Agree about the alarm light. Whoever decided on that position - Subaru UK? I guess it does not stand out so much on the black facia of the newer models. My eye was drawn to it during the test drive, and I thought it would annoy me every time I sat in it if we had bought one. Wife is driving by the way. It annoyed her too.

When we were trying to decide between the two (as we already owned Subaru and Toyota cars) we took a Toyota out for a test drive, straight to our nearest Subaru dealer, and drove the GT and BRZ back to back over the same route. Even took the salesman out in the GT after. The ride seemed to suit us better in the Toyota, and we preferred the front end of the Toyota also. I could not get on with the black plastic "gumshield" on the BRZ. Also preferred the black dash to the silver (now it is black on the BRZ as well), as for sounds, the head unit was poor in comparison on the Subaru as well. Other than that they were very similar. We have owned sporty Subarus now for fifteen years, and my heart really wanted to prefer the BRZ, but as the Toyota is mostly Subaru parts anyway, we felt we were not straying far from the brand. Noticed recently that even the Toyota emblem is made by Subaru.

Badge arrived from PJ Customs in USA. Made from billet aluminium. Just a temporary mock up while I decide whether to use the oval carbon backing or not. Before After

Final flights are hopefully next weekend (10/11th). It is planned there will be a northern tour and a southern tour. The final routes are due to be decided on Tuesday. There is some concern from the authorities that a mass public response to see Vulcan will affect traffic flow round Doncaster airport, and at the moment, this threatens the final tours. Public safety concerns, they say. As it is, the public are asked to keep away from the airport and not go to see it take off and land, which will not be allowed if the airport is gridlocked. That's the drawing power of the "Tin Triangle". Today features the last public displays over Gaydon and the Shuttleworth Collection. Take off at 3pm ish. Displays from around 3.30pm, Gaydon first. All this subject to conditions on the day. Vulcan at the Members Day, Coventry Airport, last month. Very emotional day!! And a wingover from Shoreham in 2012.

Agree with this.I have the Tomei EL with a sports cat and remap. It is quite a bit louder, but over time as the exhaust silts up I have found the sound gets deeper..

Took eldest daughter to Silverstone on Sunday for her to try out the GT on track (birthday present for her, opportunity for me). Saw a nice Giallo driving out when we arrived – anybody here? It’s been thirteen years since I last went on track at Silverstone, and I had forgotten how wide the track is (for obvious reasons) compared with other circuits I have used. I managed to get my 9 laps in, many in the pouring rain, and the things I noticed most were how well the car handled on the wet surface with a lot of standing water, and just how underpowered it felt going down the pit straight. The instructor was saying “give it some more welly” when I already had my foot to the floor. Still, my late braking improved. I never managed to determine what tyres were fitted, because the weather intervened further just after I came off track. Just as my daughter was about to go out, part of the roof on the new pit complex blew off, and there were panels flying across the complex, which meant they had to shut the track for the rest of the day. Still, she could have been travelling down the pit straight when debris was flying about. Now need to rebook for her to complete the experience. Here’s a few photos, including bits of roof flying about. Close up
