What a shame Annie. We will raise our coffee cups in a toast to your swift recovery!!
-
14 possible attendees and 7 confirmed so far, across the two forums. If you can avoid it, please don't arrive until 1pm as the staff will be busy clearing the car park to allow us to park together. Many thanks.

So Louise, when we meet up at the coffee house, are you going to climb in the boot again for a photo outside the shop entrance, for us? I have just the image in mind!!

Commercials and Promotionals for Our Cars
Subota Boy replied to CherryBomb's topic in GT86/BRZ General Chat
Yes Annie. It was the most amazing day! I got Tada San to sign my Toyota book and he was most interested in my nose badge, which we were discussing in the video. Lovely man. Very grateful that the Drivers Club were able to link up with Toyota to make this happen!! (assuming that is how it came to fruition - I don't know the details). -
Commercials and Promotionals for Our Cars

Great thread, Annie!! -
Takes me back to 2008 when a group of us Subaruists did a tour including Stelvio, Susten, Nurburgring etc. It was definitely more pleasurable going down the other side, especially in a larger saloon. This thread brings back many great memories.

You didn't see me take it because I didn't, Luke. 😉 Pic courtesy of Pete at the Fuel Coffee House. You just happen to be the laid back star of the pic!!

Hope you all have a fantastic day!

Well done Vadim!!

My car is 6 years old and started doing this in May. Sounds like a sort of grinding noise that changes pitch. Breathing sounds a great description! When I hear it next time I will fiddle with the aircon switch and see if it changes anything. Useful thread this!!

You done some good work there, Nick!

Unfortunately got a family commitment for the whole weekend, so will be away.

We have a hybrid C-HR with 1.8 engine, and have tested the 2.0 hybrid in the Corolla recently. Toyota have certainly moved the tech on in 3 years from the version we have in the C-HR. Power delivery is much smoother and comes in sooner, making the hybrid Corolla a very sporty machine! If they can adapt the GT86 onto their TNGA platform I imagine a hybrid version could be much fun. The weight of the batteries though!

Agree about power delivery being harmonious with how the car was developed. If I can refrain from dumping the right foot, the car drives just as it did when N/A, and you can go for a moderate tootle and the car still feels right at home. If you want to travel at a fair old lick then it does that as well, like it was engineered to cope easily with the extra power and the more gentle delivery that the S/C provides. Two cars in one. Charger is very useful on the motorway and I feel a lot safer carrying out certain manoeuvres with the S/C back up.

I had a similar experience on a forum regarding "should have gone turbo" as if I didn't know what I was doing. Having explained that I had experience of TD04, VF34, Garrett etc through 13 years with turbo'ed Subarus, and just wanted something different, and that I liked the word "supercharged", and had never had one, and wanted a different sort of power delivery for a change; they still thought generally I was off my head. That will teach me for not running with the herd. The term "each to his own" was not understood either.

Interested in this. Presumably Denbies would allocate us some hard standing parking, rather than in the adjacent field where Pistonheads parked us?
-
Wow Sam! Good luck Mate! Can't wait to see the Bunny fitted (for this year). You cost me some new rear lights so far, so don't go too mad!! 😉
-
Indeed Nick. Two big engines. Grandchildren love the drama, and how large the driving wheels are! My kids can still name all the Thomas the Tank Engines from back in the day!
-
Well, after all that I have a clash! My daughter has bought tickets for us to take the grandchildren to the Giants of Steam weekend at the Bluebell railway. The tickets are for sunday, so a separate visit to Brooklands will be necessary for me. Thanks for organising, Vadim.

There is no wrong and right with personal choice. Happiness with the end result is more important. You will love your car even more!! Not too long to wait either!! Enjoy!!
-
Same response, or lack of it, that I had last year!

Are we having a club display Vadim? Do we buy tickets as individuals and hope they park us together? Have I missed this information somewhere? 😉

General FI questions - Rod strength and supercharger whine
Subota Boy replied to Leeky's topic in GT86/BRZ General Chat
Good luck Martin, and enjoy! Just to add my two penny worth on the Cosworth set up. My standard map was tweaked by Matt for the exact exhaust arrangement, so I have a custom map also. This tweak was available, as I understand it, to all customers who wished to have theirs fine tuned. Also, my intake pipe used to rub on the bonnet. For some reason, the engine of the Cosworth test car sat lower in the engine bay, and it was around this that the set up was designed. Cosworth redesigned a batch of intake pipes for those with rubbing problems (not everybody) and these were supplied free, no questions asked. No more rubbing! -
General FI questions - Rod strength and supercharger whine
Subota Boy replied to Leeky's topic in GT86/BRZ General Chat
Hello Neil I chose Cosworth over other options after a test drive in a Cosworth kitted car. I have driven other cars with another kit, although not a Harrop. So I can't help you with a decision, but that wasn't your question. After the test drive I looked into the development undertaken by Cosworth, who I have always admired regarding their engineering credentials. I noted the hours on a test bed, and the fact that the map provided was regarded as "safe". I also admired the fact that the installation looks very OEM in the engine bay, and that it seemed the aftercare was likely to be very good, and so it has proven. Matt at Cosworth is very prompt in dealing with any queries, and made sure that the map I had was absolutely suited to the exhaust options I had on the car. I have had the Cosworth kit now for 3.5 years and it has been completely reliable, and looks like it was installed yesterday. The materials used in the construction of the kit are top notch, and many engineers, on inspection, have admired the quality of the design. It's more expensive, I believe, but I like to think you get what you pay for. I can't comment on the qualities of the Harrop, but know that there are many satisfied owners. Good luck with your decision. -
