Hey all, I just picked up a Beatrush Brake stopper and I seem to have an extra loom going to the auto box which is in the way. Manual cars don't appear to have this extra loom. Anyone ever fitted a brake stopper like this to an auto before? I’m not sure if I should just move it out of the way or abort mission to avoid wires rubbing against the stopper and causing electrical problems.

OEM PreFacelift Alloys - New/Mint condition - £150
Leeky replied to Leeky's topic in For Sale GT86 / BRZ Parts
Yes I saw those; crazy price! I got mine for £600 inc delivery and they are mint off a 3k mile car. -
Pair of OEM Front Seats for sale - Open to any reasonable offers Perfect condition. No rips or damage to mention of. The GT86 fitment mounts (bits bolted to the runners to line up with the mount holes in the car floor) were removed as these were fitted to my Mercedes 4x4 (highlighted in 2nd picture). So you would need to transfer these across from your old seats or buy/make some new ones. Seatbelt buckles were also removed and replaced with Mercedes fitment buckles, so these would need to be replaced also if going back into an 86/BRZ. Collection only from Reading. Too big to post I'm afraid.

Anyone worried it will turn into the new Mazda RX8
Leeky replied to Dennis Wilson's topic in GT86/BRZ General Chat
Another Ex RX8 owner here. Cracking car; loved mine to bits and from my experience once you put better coils, starter and battery on them they can be just as reliable as any other car (as long as you know the difference in how to treat a rotary engine vs a piston engine). But the 86 is just hands down a better car than the RX8 in every single way, except when it comes to rear passenger space. The RX8 has a bad reputation which is partly the blame of Mazda cheaping out on certain components and partly the owners thinking that you can run/maintain a rotary engine exactly the same way as a piston engine - which you just cant. 86 hasn't got anywhere near the kind of issues that the RX8 is known for, so I’d expect the 86 to depreciate more like the Honda S2000 rather than the RX8. -
Yeah this is the thing; i’ve not heard anything whilst driving the car that has ever made me suspect anything is wrong with the front bearings. Just noticed when i got the disc and pads out that the front hubs don't spin like I expected them to. I guess thats just the way they are
-
Hey Guys n Gals, Just changed all the discs/pads on my car and noticed for the first time that both the front hubs dont really spin that freely (Or rather not as freely as I would have expected them to). They sound a little rough when you turn them by hand (Sounds like new pad rubbing against new disc, but this is before I've even put the discs/pads back in). Is this normal? Rear's seem to spin a lot more freely. My car is a 2014 with 20k on the clock. Used purely for track days, so would expect the wear on them to be greater that 20k miles of regular driving. Needs to go into Toyota in July for a service so im wondering whether or not to get them to fit me two new front bearings whilst they have it in. Cheers! Leeky

Hey All, Up for sale is my Video Input Adaptor for the OEM GT86 Headunit (TAS300). I bought this so that I could mirror my iphone onto the factory headunit. Throwing in a 3m AV cable and a parking brake cable I made (both as seen in the picture below along with the harness). Cost me new £40inc delivery. Asking for £20 inc postage which I think is a fair price. Located in Reading if anyone wanted to collect it. -

You’ll need a digital to analog converter, a short male-to-male hdmi cable/module and a twin usb 12v power adaptor. I can supply these for an additional £10 if you like. Otherwise you can get these yourself on ebay. -
Hey all, I couldnt find the answer doing a search, so starting a new thread. Does anyone on here have a reversing camera they have fitted themselves to the OEM TAS300 headunit? Has anyone had to tap the pink reverse trigger wire for their camera installs to work? I bought the genuine Toyota ‘FIT’ camera from the US (nearly £100!) and it comes with a 24-pin harness adaptor. I’ve fitted it all, but it doesnt appear to work at all. According to the instructions, on some cars its required to run a cable from one of the pins on the 28-pin harness down to the pink reverse trigger wire in the passenger footwell - which is fine as I found this cable. However the other end on the 28-pin connector already has a wire in it which doesnt match the instructions. I suspect the 24-pin loom I have is for the facelift cars with the TAS400 and what I need to do here is purchase a 16-pin harness or transfer the pins from the 24-pin harness across into the 16pin connector. Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated as im tearing out my hair over this lol cheers!

“Reverse Trigger” required for reverse camera on TAS300?
Leeky replied to Leeky's topic in ICE/Electrical
Crisis over! I’ve manage to figure this out myself. FYI for anyone else doing a reversing cam install: 1. The Reverse trigger is not required to be tapped on UK cars. All the US FRS guides tend to tell you to run a cable down to tap into the pink reverse trigger cable in the footwell, but on the UK cars its already connected via an existing pin on the 28pin harness. 2. Some online guides tell you to go into the ‘hidden menu’ on the TAS300 to enable the ‘camera’ option. But this hidden menu doesnt appear to be available on the models without nav. So i didnt do this, 3. If you buy the Genuine Toyota ‘Fit’ kit off ebay, try and confirm beforehand that the version they are going to send you has the 16 pin connector and not the 24-pin connector like I was sent. The 24-pin connector only fits to the SatNav port and looking at the wiring diagram there doesn’t appear to be any pins on this connector that support video input. I can only assume this version of the cable they sent me is for the facelift 2017+ cars with the TAS400. So i had to dismantle the 24-pin harness they sent me and transfer across the two pins into the existing 16-pin connector I had in the back of the headunit already. Now its all up and running beautifully. -

Hi Mitch, I just sent you a PM. Cheers -
We’ll just have to agree to disagree...

Actually Alfa designed the QV first and then worked back to the base models. Yes, its not just an engine; there are lots of differences. But the msrp price isnt based entirely on manufacturing costs/profit margins. Its the sales/marketing guys that decide what to price the different models at. Also you cant compare the F-Type to the Supra. If people are dumb enough to pay that much for a 4-cyl turbo then good luck to them. But there is a hell of a lot of badge going on with the Jag. Toyota cant flog a 4-cyl car based off the Supra for anywhere near to £50k. In Japan/US the JZA80 with the 3.0 2JZGE was around 10K/25% cheaper than the 3.0 2JZGTE model. In Japan the JZA70 with the 2.0 1G-GTE was the equivalent of £13k, the 3.0 7MGTE started around £20k and the later 2.5 1JZGTE’s got to nearly £30k. So what i’m trying so say is that historically the nasp/smaller engined Supra has always been significantly cheaper than the top spec model. So whilst I agree that this being the first modern supra, built in another country, by another company could mean a difference in market placement and pricing; I’m still expecting this Supra to be priced like Supra’s of the past.

Alfa Giulia - £31k Alfa Giulia QV - £60k BMW 318i - £28k BMW M3 - £55k

But who says it’ll actually be called a Supra? May have a totally different front, back, interior and name. Dont forget, Supra was just a top spec Celica back in the day. Most people hear the word “Supra” and instantly think Mk4. Where as I hear “Supra” and think of a mk2/3 Celica with a 6-cyl squeezed in.
-
Going by 4-cyl z4 vs 6-cyl z4 prices, i’d expect a 4-cyl Supra to start just over £30k. And an Auto 86 is knocking on the door of £30k. But yeah, we may not even get the 4 banger in the uk. But if the Japanese do.. i doubt they could justify building another 86.
-
I don’t think a mk2 86 makes any sense when a 4-cyl Supra is coming.
-
If Toyota do bring back the Celica it wont be FWD. Toyota are only interested in sports cars for proper drivers these days. It’ll almost certainly be RWD like the first three generations of Celica.
