The Stage 1.3 quoted at 230bhp comes with a manifold. btw thanks for the info about the map no longer switching back.

    Considering a Cossie GT86.....

Just curious, but did you end up getting one? Was tempted by the Cossie Supercharger myself, but for the kind of extra torque/power/weight added to the car you’d need bigger brakes, better cooling, better suspension etc to do it right and it soon becomes an expensive final package. I’ve instead decided to stay NA. But keen to hear from those that have gone Cossie SC to see if they tell me good things to change my mind
  4. Hi there, Are you still doing these at £135 inc delivery? I need to wait for pay day, but keen to get one of these asap as my car spends 99% of its life on track. Cheers

Easter Offer! Cosworth Supercharger VAT FREE

Hi there, I’ve got a few questions about the stage 1.0 kit if thats cool. Is the 1.0 map different to the map loaded for stage 1.1/1.2/1.3? As in, if you start with 1.0 and then subsequently get the 1.1/1.2/1.3 mods fitted, does a different map need to be loaded for those to be supported properly? Can you choose which map it defaults to? I understand it defaults to a 95ron map, but i always run my car on 99ron religiously. So rather than change the map every time it starts up id want the default map to be the Cosworth map for 99ron fuel. I like the idea of the Cosworth stage 1.3 for 230bhp N/A but unfortunately really dont like the sound of the Cosworth Catback (plus its too loud for track day noise limits). Is it possible to do everything else out of the 1.3 kit without the catback? Many Thanks!
  6. Hey chaps, Does this work like JAE? As a ‘participant’ do you have to be registered as part of a club? Or once in can you pitch up pretty much where you like?

GT86 Veering towards Right under acceleration

Now im not entirely sure on how the GT86’s Torsen LSD function when in the air... and you would have to be extremely careful in trying this... but if you were to jack up the car by the diff and run the car in gear I wonder if only one wheel turns... Because the symptoms you are having suggests to me a broken differential... because I had exactly the same issue after taking my MK2 Supra to Santapod and lunching my diff after too many full throttle launches. It would totally explain why your car pulls to one side under acceleration. Its essentially 1 wheel drive. A loose Subframe would knock, so I doubt its anything like mountings.

    Battery replacement

Assuming your car is still under warranty or the dealer actually want to change it... which my dealer didnt and preffered to be teapots about it. There is no official recall or TSB on the batteries so its at the dealers discretion. Personally I didnt want to chance it anyway with only a 65ah and an appox 50% improvement in capacity. I wanted twice the capacity and this 80ah battery is the closest thing I could find that still fitted within the factory battery tray. if you’re gonna do a job, do it right I say

    Battery replacement

Hi guys, Recently my oem battery gave out, so just thought id share that I found an ideal battery for the GT86 online which is 80ah and also cheaper than all the others. Just search ebay for SuperBatt 072. £59.99 delivered and fits the factory battery tray fine.

Bump - Still looking for a pair of seats. Would pay up to £200 for a pair.
  14. What do you mean? Thats exactly where I have posted it... Anyway, moving into how the cables all go together. 1) Starting with the 12v cig adaptor. The 'lightning to usb' cable goes to power the Lightning Digital AV adaptor. And power for the 'HDMI to AV' adaptor goes via the other powered USB connector. 2) Composite AV cable goes from the 'HDMI to AV' adaptor to the 'Car Solutions Video Input Adapter'. On the latter the SPD cable must be disconnected otherwide the stereo kills the video output as it knows you are moving. 3) I used the flat head screwdriver to pop out the stereo surround and then the 10mm deep socket to undo the four bolts that hold the stereo in. I wrapped the hand towel around the stereo to stop the sharp edges of the stereo bracket from scratching my interior. 4) On the back of the stereo there are multiple connectors. The ones of interest are the two top ones. The wider of the two (28-pin) is the one that needs to be disconnect so that I can attach the 'car solutions' cable inbetween. 5) The smaller 16-pin connector next to it is the one that has the earth cable to the handbrake. This needs to be permanently earthed so the stereo thinks the car is parked. Multiple ways this can be done but the way I did it was to simply disconnect the existing cable and then crimped a new cable with the female spade adaptor at one end and the ring terminal on the other. I put electrical tape around the female connector to make sure it cant connect with the other pins as they are very tight in there. I bridged that pin (third from top left if you look at the stereo from behind) and ran the wire to one of the two lower stereo mounting bolts to earth it. The top two are not earthed. And thats basicly it. I routed the cables through to the glovebox where there is a 12v socket in the top corner. I just plug in my iphone SE and start the car. I then go to 'sources' on the stereo and choose AV. I use the option of 'Wide2' which filled the screen the best. Hope this helps anyone else trying to do the same thing. My next plan is to use a vgate icar2 wifi OBD2 adaptor to display gauges on the stereo using the Accurate app. This will be useful on trackdays to monitor water and oil temps.
  15. Wanna mirror your iphone onto the standard Toyota TAS300 screen so that you can use Google Map Navigation, stream movies/tv etc? Yes? Excellent, you're in the right place Here is a pic I took earlier today. First things first. I accept no responsibility for damage you do to your stereo or vehicle in any way. This is simply a basic description of how I accomplished it but you may want to tweak here and there. If you do this, then you do it at your own risk. Firstly, mirroring the screen is pretty easy. But getting the touchscreen to control your iphone is another level. I wont be going into that as its not something im bothered about. If im using the navigation on my phone for example, then I just punch in my destination before I set off. Ok so first up these are the things I needed to do this - Apple Lightning Digital AV Adaptor Apple Lightning to USB cable (the one that comes with the phone is fine) Twin USB 12v Car Cigarette Socket Charging Adaptor Male to Male HDMI cable HDMI to AV converter Male to Male composite AV Cable (Yellow, Red & White) length dependent on where you want the phone to live i.e. Glovebox or armrest etc Car Solutions Video Input Adaptor (https://car-solutions.com/en/video-cable-for-toyota-touch-2-entune-monitors.php) 10mm Deep Socket Approx 5mm wide Flat Head Screwdriver Hand Towel Small Crimpable Female spade terminal Crimpable ring terminal with an inner diameter of at least 5mm approx 10 inches of electrical cable. Next Up.... how it all goes together...
  16. Ok so i got the video input working. There is an SPD wire that is supposed to be disconnect. Turns out this isnt enough alone as i had to put on the handbrake to get the video to come to life. I know the headunit looks for a signal from the vehicle speed sender so I believe this SPD wire is the one the headunit uses to monitor that. All i need to do now is follow the wires from the handbrake to the headunit then permanently earth it to the headunit. Will post up a how to guide once ive cracked it.
  17. Hey peeps, I bought one of these so that i could get video input on my oem headunit. But i only get audio and not video. Anyone else tried these cables? Is there a trick to getting it to work or perhaps do I just have a duff cable? https://car-solutions.com/en/video-cable-for-toyota-touch-2-entune-monitors.php I've tried a number of games consoles, iphone, fire stick etc but none display a picture; only audio.
  18. No, not with this cable.
  19. I already have a the AV menu option as soon as i plug the cable in. But thanks anyway.

    Standard Seats

Yeah but their prices are in cloud cuckoo land lol I can get some genuine new Sparco seats for the money they are asking for used 86 seats. And I dont even want them for an 86. They'd be going in my Supercharged Merc ML55 Monster truck project. I just like the way my 86 seats feel and wouldnt mind the same seats in the truck. Honda Accord Type R seats are pretty good bang for buck... may grab a set of those if a fair set of 86 seats dont come my way.

    Standard Seats

Thanks for the offer but im not looking to spend that much. They wont be going in an 86 so ideally would prefer some non-heated ones. Cheers all the same for the offer.

    Cropzys Red TRD

Looks good Love the TRD 18's. Have you ever driven an 86 on stock 16/17's? Just curious how the ride/handling on those 18's compares.

    Gearbox strength

The Automatic is stronger IF you can keep it cool. Remember HP doesnt kill gearboxes, torque kills gearboxes. Manual (Aisin AZ6) has a maximum torque rating of 250nm http://www.izb-online.com/uploads/tx_tnmexhibitordatabase/uploads/AISIN AI company presentation.pdf Remember, the AZ6 (derived from the J160/RA6x) is in the s2000/rx8/altezza/mx5/s15 so gernally low torque 4 cylinder engines. Automatic A960E has a maximum torque rating of 300nm http://www.atspareparts.com/toyota-a960e-transmission.html A960E has been in many V6 lexus applications. Also here's a great blog from Lexus that mentions the evolution of both transmissions. http://blog.lexus.co.uk/lexus-gearbox-transmissions/

    Keeping the A960E cool

Howdy peeps I'm a newbie to the forum but i've been in the Toyota Tuning game for about 15years now. I've recently bought an 86 as a new track car and Im currently looking at A960E cooling modifications for an 86 running around 300rwhp. Does anyone know of a company other that SSP that does an A960E cooler kit? The SSP kit is quite expensive for what it is so im looking at any possible cheaper alternatives. Couldnt find anything on searching the forums but through a TSS member I know at least one 86 owner (Keith?) was using a FI 86 with an AT box. However i hear he had at least one failure. From my research it appears its the heat dissipation (or lack of it) thats the weak spot on the gearboxes. cheers!
