Not legitimately. You’ll need at least one Catalytic Convertor to pass the emissions test. The first Cat is part of the Manifold. The 2nd Cat is on the midpipe under the gearbox. Probably the 2nd is cheaper to buy, easier to fit and then easier to remove again after your MOT if you want to go back to catless. I just remembered I have a Factory 2nd cat out in the Garage that I removed from my car at 16k miles. Would sell it to you if you are interested. Just drop me an IM if you are (would need collecting from Reading)
  2. Looks like a TV aerial to me. I had the exact same thing in my Aristo

Help Trying to get pop and bangs

Mine is is late 2014 car running Cosworth Stage 1.2 Map. Now I come to think about it... when it was stock it never popped so must be a characteristic of the map or the Cosworth exhaust system.

Help Trying to get pop and bangs

Yep, usually on hot summer days on track once the exhaust is hot enough its constantly popping on overrun and through flat upshifts. Its not the end of the world. As long as its not doing any harm I can live with it.

Help Trying to get pop and bangs

Im the opposite. I wish I could tune out the pops and bangs I get on track days when its really hot (without affecting performance) lol

    Deciding on Oil Weight

I do around 10 track days a year. I have only 1x oil change done per year and its done by Toyota using the standard oil they recommend for these cars. I have a Cosworth baffled sump but no oil cooler and I drive the car hard - but I never do more than about 10 minutes of full on hard driving. I come in for a cool down on a regular basis. But I check the oil before and after every track day. The level never goes down and its always as clean/clear as the day it goes into the engine. I think Toyota designed the cooling/oil system on these NA cars to be more than tolerant to the amount of abuse you can give them on track. But I just stay mindful that too many hard laps without a break is bad for any car.

    18 inch light wheels

I have these uber light 17 inch Advan’s for sale with AD08R’s if they are of interest - Stock size rims and tyres so they dont upset the great factory handling of the car. But much lighter than the factory rims with super grippy rubber.
  10. Hey guys, Im in the market for a lightweight propshaft if anyone has one for sale. Aluminium or Carbon - Would be interested in either. Cheers! Leeky
  11. I always use my local ChipsAway for dents and bodywork. Always very competitive on price and the quality of the finish is perfect. According to Google there is a ChipsAway in Derby.

    MFactory 4.67 final drive

Cool. Thanks for the info. That makes total sense now as the auto has longer gearing than the manual.

    MFactory 4.67 final drive

Yeah mine is purely a track car so the only road miles it see are between home and track. So fuel economy isn't an issue for me; just curious. The top speed of a stock auto 86 is 130 according to Toyota but I don't know if thats a gearing limit or a power based limit. Assuming its a gearing limit then with a shorter final drive the top speed may drop to something like 120 but I dont know for sure.

    MFactory 4.67 final drive

Cheers guys. Sorry for hijacking the thread. Just that I saw kaisersalsek had this diff on an auto and I was pondering this as a mod for my auto.

    MFactory 4.67 final drive

Just out of curiosity what did you do about the speedo reconfiguration? As I assume it put your speedo out of wack? Also whats your top speed now? I assume the diff has improved the acceleration at the expense of top speed and fuel economy? Would be interested to know what your 70mph cruising RPM is now.
  16. Hey peeps, I need to start keeping a closer eye on whats happening under my bonnet. So I’m looking to fit some aftermarket gauges and am looking for some kind of setup if anyone is selling one. I’m not completely certain where I’m going to mount the gauges yet, so I’d be interested in all sorts of set ups. But i’m only interested in your typical mechanical style 52mm/60mm gauges with their own senders. I don't want anything OBD2 or going into dash vents like those P3 gauges. Ideally I’d be looking for a matching set which includes Water Temp, Engine Oil Temp, Transmission Oil Temp and Boost. If they had audible alarms that would be perfect. Block8Head pods for 52mm gauges look very good. I’m currently thinking a 3x pod version of one of those would be great for the 3x temp gauges and then I may just put a small digital boost gauge on top of the steering column. Drop me an IM if you have anything going. Cheers! Leeky
  17. Please close the thread. I sorted out a solution. In case anyone is curious in what I went for, I ended up getting an ScanGauge II with the latest firmware and this gives me everything I needed. Shows me Water Temp, Oil Temp, Oil Pressure and Auto Gearbox Temp plus it allows me to set warning alarms too. Also as it plugs into the ODB port and reads the data from the ECU I don't even have to get my fingers dirty or do any damage to my dash! Top banana

    GT86 Tyre choice

I use AD08R’s for my track rims and Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5’s for my road rims.
  19. I was exactly the same. I drove a manual Dark Grey 86 back in 2012 when the dealers first got their demo’s and I thought it was alright but didn't blow me away. Sure it was very light and nimble but I wouldn’t have traded in my Celica GT4 at the time for it. Then 5 years later I drove my wife to Toyota in my Monaro VXR to take delivery of her new Aygo she ordered. Whilst there I sat in their showroom 86 (just for something to do) and before I knew it I was talked into having a go in an Orange Auto PreFacelift car - No strings attached. I drove it very hard (as I scoffed at the little 200bhp 2.0 next to my 500bhp 6.0 LS2) but was blown away with how much faster overall I could drive it compared to the Monaro. The flappy paddle auto just blew my mind. I was able to keep the engine right on the boil through the gears without backing off. I could see that the 86 was clearly a better track car than the Monaro and just needed slightly stickier tyres to turn it into maniac. I loved it so much, I bought that Orange 86 there and then. You can exploit 100% of the 86’s power 100% of the time if you wish. If I tried to do the same in the Monaro I would die very quickly. The 86 is a bit of a wolf in sheep's clothing if you ask me. Its greater than the sum of its parts and the figures would have you believe. I find at all the track days I go to the stock 86’s are matching the stock E46 M3’s and 231PS RX8’s and in some cases showing them up. The figures on paper dont suggest this is possible. But its just such a great chassis and weighs so little. Also if fuel economy is important for you on long journeys then this is a great car for you. On long motorway journeys cruising at legal speed I reset the trip and am always averaging over 50mpg.
  20. Hi All, Exceptional condition. Came off a 2014 car which had only 16k miles from new when removed. Zero curbing. Only imperfections are 1-2 very little tyre fitters marks and slight surface corrosion. I don't think there are many sets out there in such good condition so having sold a lightly curbed set previously for £100 I’d like to get £200 for these. (Price since reduced to £170) Collection only from Reading, Berkshire. May be interested in a swap for other GT86 bits (what have you got?)
  21. Brand New boxed and unused Perrin 3” Intake Pipe for GT86/BRZ Part Number PSP-INT-430BK Bought this only at the beginning of this month but have since decided to go a different route. Cost me £95 (inc shipping and import taxes). Will take £80 inc free postage. I don’t think this will hang around for long at this price.... First come first served. Drop me a message if you want it.
