Saw a couple of Cobra systems at Oulton Park in the paddock on the 86 day and thought they sounded fruity at tickover and low revs Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Since getting the alignment and corner weighting done, I am pushing into corners harder and have found the full soft setting too soft! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Organised a christmas meet at Whitby last year and one chap turned up in an SLK 55 on summer tyres, he found it to be fun on the back roads! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Winter tyres handy on mucky rural roads, more Tractive Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Winter tyre sellers would suggest that they work at anything below 10 degrees, but they would, wouldn't they! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Gone with Lauren's suspension settings minus 2 degrees front and minus 1.75 rear. Kept the Ohlins default rear height and lowered the front around 8mm because it was a bit light on road ripples. Now front and back working really well together absorbing the energy, handling super sharp, maybe a little twitchy? But very responsive Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Looking forward to Corner weighing and camber setting at 8am tomorrow Feels like Ohlins default settings are akin to standard car settings, need to lower the front end to put more weight on it and pull the front top mounts in, to improve steering, time will tell, scales tell no lies! I have ordered a pair of adjustable front sway bar (ARB) links from BC, they looked ok when I used their coilovers unfortunately they won't arrive before Croft! Will look to use Lauren's camber settings, front via pillow ball and rears with camber bushes I do feel that with the Ohlins there is a lot to be gained from fine tuning....... Stephen

I have a set of 16" RC Advan wheels 8" et35 Fitted with Goodyear and Continental 225 x 50 tyres Only fitted last winter when there wasn't an issue with deep snow and they gave more confidence Will have to check which model of tyres I have The deeper sidewalls give a bit more flex Stephen

Just ordered some fensport rear camber adjustment bushes

Maybe we should be fitting stiffer front anti-roll bars rather than rear? Curious as to whether I will need rear camber adjustment when only lowering 20mm? My Ohlins have been turned to full soft and I find the ride better than stock, suggesting the standard dampers are the weak link, can't wait to get the alignments done next week. Another option that I considered before Ohlins was either Koni or Bilstein (B6 or B8) shockers together with lowering springs and either standard or pillow ball top mounts (probably only need fronts). 10 clicks out of 20 too hard for a daily driver, adjusted to 5 clicks from soft and she feels really good, rides better than standard. Needs sharper steering, which will be sorted with alignment. A real feeling of money well spent. Stephen

Possibly do some road miles between runs? Wouldn't mind running in your car to see what my next purchase will be like! Stephen

Just fitted the Ohlins today, no alignments done, set the pre-load on springs, the handling feels very neutral from the factory, not very sharp on steering, hope to amend this within the week. IMO 6kg springs work really well, probably down to the quality of the shockers, better ride than standard. Only travelled 2 miles, so that is my experience. Stephen

most memorable cars on this course being a Peugeot Mi16 and a 340bhp Celica gt4 with 40mm bilstein coilovers

Hello Lauren You bring a level of track experience that few of us would hope to match and I for one welcome your feedback. I have experienced, albeit for a short time the fun of a well sorted road set up can bring, the ability of suspension to hold energy over undulating roads, not feeling out of control, just well balanced and chuckable. I will post up a video of the local North Yorks TT course, to give an idea of challenging roads, after corner weighting. Stephen

Yes, I was thinking about Bilstein coilovers, circa £1600 for adjustable ones, then you probably need to get aftermarket top mounts.... then everybody says you are better with linear springs...... then you get near to the price of Ohlins. I will post up some pics of my kit. Gotta build up the legs tonight and spray a load of grease on then. I am probably looking at a maximum 20mm drop. The effect of inboard rear shocks being they will run softer than the fronts which are attached to the hub, the front Ohlin shocks are beasts! Stephen Stephen
