Hi Lauren, thanks for this, do you have a "link" for bushes? Stephen
-
Hi Lauren Thank you for your analysis, I seem to remember running 5kg front and 4 kg rear springs on BC coilovers. Ohlins run 6kg all round, but balanced by a better quality shocker. I have been quoted £2350 for those units and will self fit, run them for a week or so and Darell Staniforth should then be back from hols to corner weight etc, not sure whether to get camber bolts for the rear. I would be happy with a 10-15mm drop from the Ohlins, my understanding is their valves adjust damping to load? As a layman, I will be looking to run near full soft for daily driving and max it for track, fine tuning required.. Stepping back a few years, I could never get 22mm piston suspension to work properly on a 1450kg Celica over challenging roads, just before I sold the 340bhp ST205 model it was working perfectly with Bilstein B8 40mm piston suspension using 8kg front and 5kg rear springs (Celica front end carries much more weight). What put me off Teins were 20-22mm pistons and too much experience of Japanese KYB shockers, I personally think bigger pistons are better, but there is a price to pay! I am picking up some Ohlins tomorrow. Stephen p.s. I think I have blown my standard shockers, a strip will tell!

I have been thinking about anti-roll bars as a way of improving handling, now they seem to come in different thicknesses and some are adjustable. Horses for courses, how big is too big? Your thoughts! Thanks in advance. Stephen

The units were supplied by an agent for Apex performance the importer based in Bradford who also are the main men for Bilstein

I have a set of 4 extra load tyres, manufactured in Germany, with approx 5 mm of tread. Not sure how much they are worth? Based in North Yorkshire. Stephen

Kinda thinking over rough ground, you would want a bit of float to maintain contact with the road? Smooth track would be different? Stephen
-
Is bigger only suited to the track? Do you want more compliance over rough ground e.g. standard?
-
Would these by of use to anyone wanting to fit snow tyres? Could you use them with standard tyres on a TSS round to give a wider track with ET35? Stephen
-
These tyres are sold, pending payment.

Just place an order for:- Ohlins coilover suspension with 6kg springs f & r TSS Croft. How times change!

Yes, they are the tyres that Keith recommended, of German manufacture. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Hi Lauren Which coilover options don't lose damper travel? Stephen
-
My thinking has progressed somewhat! Looking at these:- http://www.hancheyvehicletech.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=HVT&Product_Code=810TM-FT86 http://www.hancheyvehicletech.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=HVT&Product_Code=815TM-GT86 which on the face of it will allow me to run longer shocker lengths for travel and still run reasonably low ride heights. These would be allied to a Bilstein B16 coilover, running soft on the road, allied to progressive springs and whack the settings up to full hard for the track. I remember seeing Johnny Milner using built up strut turrets on his ST205, using long shockers and having a low ride height. Any thoughts? Stephen

Thanks for that Keith. I bought this gear lever insert http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/121404409707?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 because I find with quick shifting it is easy to crunch the gears. I also have some Rays rims on the Carlos Sainz, 8.5" x 17" ET39 fitted with 235 x 40 595 RSR tyres that could be useful? Stephen

Can I pay and turn up at a round of the TSS?

Will post up some pics and a link to the product

Hi Rob, I am hoping to firm up my shifter, the racing poly bush insert should be a harder compound than the standard poly bush
-
Hi Jamie, they have stiff sidewalls and are grippy, so I should have thought ideal for sprinting.
-
Just ordered a racing version of a poly bush gear lever insert

Seem to remember my Celica st205 was running 350/130 on a 1400kg car

Need to find out about revalving the shockers, which seems to suit uk roads

I have pretty much decided to get Bilstein B16 coilovers
