    Felinicide

I need advice ... I can't stop killing cats, so I'm looking for some help with my behaviour before the authorities come knocking. Here's some history: JDL UEL catted manifold into Berk catted front pipe then Perrin catback. The JDL cat destroyed itself within 3 months (wonder why they only give 90 days warranty?), and the remnants of it made a mess of the Berk cat. Now I have a Cobra catted front pipe (kept the JDL manifold with the missing cat). No problem with emissions until this year (it had been on 2 years at that point), when it took some ... creativity ... to pass. I do maybe 10k/year, the odd trackday and have Cosworth SC. I'd like to keep the JDL manifold, rather than go back to stock. So, I'm wondering what to do next. Anyone had just a cat in the front pipe that's lasted longer than 2 years with SC? Some options: Have a new cat fitted to the manifold Or the Cobra Try another catted front pipe I see Fensport stock JDL now and they have a catted front pipe. Not sure that's worth the risk given what happened with their manifold, though the resonated option might be nice The Berk never had a chance to show what it could do, so maybe give them another go, though given they are a good bit cheaper than the Cobra I'm not sure how well they'll last Supersprint front pipe. Wait, how much?! I still have the stock front pipe, so could go back to that I suppose (though the MOT place tried to put it back on to get through emissions couldn't get it to fit, which seems odd). TIA for any help or thoughts! Cheers Luke.

Nice! Are you accepting orders now and is there still a coupon?

    Project Cars 2

Hijacking the Forza thread idea... Anybody tried Project Cars 2? I have it, but ... it doesn't feel at all right (G25 wheel, Fanatac clubsport pedals). Like the people writing it have never actually driven in real life! Is it worth persevering with, tweaking to get something that feels remotely like the real world? FFB is so bad. Cheers!

Monitoring VVT / VVT not working

This was a dull commute home logging SAE.CATTEMP11 in DashCommand. Might try something a bit more spirited at the weekend... Not sure what it means, other than it takes too long to get out of Cambridge.

Wonder how the Cobra will hold up, much the same price difference between catted and not... Oh well, always got the stock one to fall back on!

OK ta, I guess the JDL job being only an additional $150 for the cat wasn't the bargain it appeared...

Monitoring VVT / VVT not working

Oh I dunno, I reckon it performed exactly as they intended - had been on 3 months at the track day ... they give a 90 day guarantee on the cat I guess I could ping them and see what they say, but can't see them doing much. Maybe a few $ but no replacement or anything. It is viable for an exhaust specialist (maybe H&S?) to remove the void where the cat was, weld on a new bit of pipe and flange, or not worth the hassle? Just wondering how much the additional noise is the void (vs lack of cat and now Cobra front pipe). It looks like this: Cheers!

12v outlet in centre console not working

Mine's blown a few times too - "P/POINT 1" in the internal box IIRC (it's labelled up, no need for the manual). Or maybe "P/POINT2"? Whichever fuse is blown HTH

Monitoring VVT / VVT not working

I had a quite look in DashCommand before work and logged SAE.CATTEMP11 on the way in - I guess this is one we're talking about? Can graph it later if anyone's interested... BTW my tune was a custom Fensport job. Adrian seemed to think that maybe the issues I was having were mainly exhaust related - too much back pressure and the ECU plays safe? He did see VVT not engage a couple of times when mapping (and the manifold was new, installed with the SC) so there's something not quite right, but not as bad as it might have seemed. I've got DashCommand set up with a realtime graph of VVT and just from eyeballing it I've not seen it misbehave like in the initial post in this thread (the worst one being coming off cruise control and it seemingly just stuck). Looking forward to the new ecutek version so only have to watch for a engine warning light... Anyway, learning a lot. Thanks!

I had a Berk front pipe and was worried that it alone wouldn't pass from what I'd read. Turns out it way well have done - MOT was a few weeks ago with the remnants of the manifold cat floating about and the Berk cat squashed and it made it through (just, after a couple of goes!).

This suggestion could be The One...

Monitoring VVT / VVT not working

Yeah - I'm sure I must've read about the 90 day cat guarantee on the JDL manifold before I bought it, and just figured it would be a non issue as my car is 99% a daily driver. Then just forgot about it ... was a bit of a shock looking into the guarantee today. Lesson learned! Screw the planet? No that's not a good lesson.

Yes, sorry. Well ... it was supposed to be in the manifold The one in the old front pipe just got squished but was still in one piece.

Monitoring VVT / VVT not working

Just to hopefully complete this story... after the track day I had a very rattly exhaust. Was hoping it was the cat in the front pipe (~3 years old) rather than the one in the manifold (~5 months old!). Haven't made it up to RRG but was at Fensport recently so had it looked at - turns out it was the manifold It's nice and clean inside though... What was left of the cat, squashing the cat in the front pipe (so that needed replacing): Anyway, hopefully all my VVT issues are gone. Certainly the performance problems are fixed now there's decent flow Not sure what to do about the manifold, it's JDL and they only cover cats for 90 days (plus the faff with them being US based)! It's too noisy for me now, wonder if that's because of the void where the cat was, the lack of a cat or the change from Berk -> Cobra front pipe (or a bit of all three)? For info, Adrian said the next ecutek version in a month or two will have the ability to light the CEL if it looks like VVT isn't working (I forget what conditions he said...). Eyeballing it with DashCommand it's been OK (AFAICT) since fixing the exhaust. Cheers (and thanks for the various advice!) Luke.

    Dashlinq 4 for sale

Yeah Android 4.2 IIRC - can double check the exact version if you like. I never looked at custom ROMs for this so couldn't say what's out there...
