Lost my wiring instructions 😬 Any chancy you could share the info here? Can’t work out which wire is the 12v live and which are the fold/unfold signal wires 😳

Stuck to the back of my glove box is this curious little keypad, says SIGMA on it. My guess is alarm or tracker? I have zero information about it amongst the paperwork etc that came with the car, no code scribbled anywhere, nothing 😕

You’re probably better off building some boxes to fit the spaces behind the trim. The speakers will work much better than just flapping in the breeze on those crappy brackets! 1/2 inch plywood is stiff enough and fairly lightweight...

So, I popped into my local dealer (WR Davies in Telford) and they are aware of the recall. They say that not all dealers are ready as they’re waiting on tooling/racking/parts etc. They also said some dealers were chosen to trial the work and give feedback to HQ for any suggestions/alterations to proceedings. My guess is that Toyota want to make sure everything’s good before they give a green light to the entire dealer network. They are acutely aware of turbo/supercharger upgrades and the extra work involved for the recall with modified cars like this. They may be choosing certain dealers to recommend to customers with such modifications (or maybe even instruct customers to take their vehicles to?!). WR Davies were interested in what I knew so far from the forums and club etc, but were still encouraging me to ‘WAIT OUT’ (as military types might say!) until they get in touch with me. With all the information available to date, my opinion is still that dealers will let customers know when they’re told by Toyota. But if a dealer isn’t told yet, and aren’t inquisitive or pushing Toyota for info, then they’ll just do what they’re told, when they’re told! There’s still no point in fretting about it 🙂

Except during valve overlap when the exhaust pulses will interact with the intake pulses... 🤔 (second in from the right explains what I’m on about). However, it’s the two sounds layered together that I found unpleasant (regardless of whether they interact with or effect each other directly). Honestly wasn’t expecting much of a difference as I thought the drone was all exhaust noise (and probably is). However plugging the intake sound tube has made a difference in the car and the noise experienced has less ‘edge’ now...

So I’ll be a bit more specific. With my TD EL manifold and Resonated system there was a (personally) unpleasant drone when placing high load on the engine at the lower end of the rpm range in high-ish gears. i.e. 4th 5th 6th at around 2500-4000rpm with 1/2throttle or more (maybe accelerating to overtake on dual carriageway or motorway without downshifting). The noise felt similar to, but far less extreme than, the kind of air ‘thumping’ you get when one window is open at speed. However, since plugging the sound tube with the glove box 12v accessory socket blank, things are much more pleasant! As with all these things it’s a matter of opinion and personal taste. I love the sound from the exhaust, but combined with the intake sound being ‘pumped’ into the cabin it was too much for me.

The ‘sound generator’ will probably make drone-like cabin noise with anything aftermarket. Make sure you disconnect it (or plug it at the very least!). 🙂

I think it’s also down to your preferred driving position... I like my legs as straight out in front of me as possible, within reason. And I like the seat back as upright as I can get whilst remaining comfortable. I’m 5’11” and my perfect driving position in the GT86 still has a few notches to go til fully back on the seat rails. It took quite some time to find a suitably comfortable position though! If you’re serious about the car go for a test drive regardless. I was a little underwhelmed the first time I took one for a drive, couldn’t find the driving position ‘sweet spot’ either. I’m so glad I kept my patience and tried again! 😀

It’s surprising how practical it can be! Getting used to loading it up can take a bit of time, but once you’ve sussed things out it can be just as good as a hatchback (for most stuff! 😬 ). I often have 2 dogs in a crate on the folded down back seat of mine!

Swapping the Premacies for Pilot Sport 4s will not disappoint! You can really lean on them (load them up nicely) and they don’t really budge. If you provoke them they will let go, but then the traction control will step in quickly. Test drives will help towards alleviating your fears enough to take the plunge and make the purchase. But it’ll be some significant miles in behind the wheel that will truly show you 🙂

No. And I’m not expecting one for months yet. The super-sceptic in me is forecasting next year at the earliest (based on nothing more than a feeling in my gut! But 100 mllion neurons can’t be THAT wrong though?! Can they 🤔 😆).

I’ve spent a few nights in mine on the passenger seat, on some very cold nights too! Arctic sleeping bag kept me toasty warm and a comfortable angle of recline is achievable. It was my feet that weren’t happy come the mornings, I think they were a bit cramped!

I think this is quite a technical question with many variables that you’ll need to know/find out. First you need to know how much energy your apnoea machine uses. It must have a wattage rating somewhere on it? You’ll need to know how much the inverter can deliver as it might not be up to the job?! 🤔😬 How long do you need to use it for on an average night? With the right inverter you can cook a roast dinner in your home oven from 12v, but you’d probably need a few thousand amps!! For example: your upgraded battery is rated at 80Ah (Amp-hours). So it can deliver 80 amps for an hour-ish (this won’t really do it any good mind you!). Conversely it can deliver 1 amp for 80 hours-ish. With the wattage of your apnoea machine you’ll need to convert this to amps... E.g. 1000watts / 12volts = 83.333 amps 10watts / 12volts = 0.8333amps (this calculator/converter will help, plus the explanations are fairly good if you scroll down 🙂 https://www.inchcalculator.com/watts-to-amps-calculator/ ). Once you know how many amps the machine will draw you’ll know if the battery will be up to the job! (It might only last half the night and need a full recharge, which will be too much for the alternator to cope with 😔 but on the other hand it might only draw a few amps over the whole night and you might be fine 😊 ). Your idea is still possible at a high-ish current draw though... It could be that you’ll need a leisure battery and charger, like those for caravans, to power the machine for a few days. Then maybe schedule some stops at caravan sites and use the hook-up electricity to re-charge as and when needed 🙂 Or if you could build it all into a little luggage-like trolley you could treat yourself to a cheap hotel/B&B every few days. A proper bed for the night and recharge the battery while you’re at it 😀 Whilst touring the country on motorbikes I’ve paid as little as £20 for a nice hotel room for the night!! 😀

Just thinking ahead past Christmas etc and was thinking a West Mids meet might be good. Jan 26th/27th or Feb 2nd/3rd... Dunno where exactly but if folk are up for it I'll have a look and a think! The RAF museum at Cosford could be a contender, as theres a pretty good Café and if people want to there's Aeroplanes to look at! I think the museum is free but the parking is a couple of quid... What do we think...? 🙂

Sounds like a self imposed deadline... 🤔 But understandably motivating to go to these lengths now it's so close to completion!

I bought a second hand TD EL manifold, overpipe, and resonated cat-back system from another forum member a few weeks ago. I got them all fitted (using new gaskets/cone seal etc) on my driveway the other day as I wanted the satisfaction of fitting it myself. Today it was mapped by TD and I'm impressed with the results! The car feels far livelier, with better throttle response and a much improved urgency about it! I spent the whole time asking questions and chatting with Mike about other mods I'd like to do. He was great, very patient and explained everything I asked. I'll definitely be going back to TD for any future mods! He also took me for a drive in his Turbo GT86, which is very impressive! My savings account has now been re-named 'TURBO KIT FUND' 😆 Thanks again for today Mike, fantastic service 🙂

The journey is about 1hr30 but there was a fair bit of traffic so not many chances to explore the new feel/performance 😕 Popped to see a mate about 20-30mins away this evening though. It's a twisty route there too and it was most enjoyable 😁

I still have the 'sound tube' connected. It's probably making things sound worse than they actually are... I'll disconnect it and see what the difference is. (I know many people have done this already, but I quite liked it with the standard exhaust).

Well... I think this kind of thing is very subjective, what one person may find totally fine might drive someone else completely mad! Objectively, it's a fair bit louder than standard! The volume very much depends on how far open the throttle is and where in the rev range you are though! For example, very light throttle/engine load to maintain 70mph in 6th (like with cruise control on) and its a nice noise. Not loud and intrusive, you can hear it above the road/tyre/wind noise, but you can drown it out with the stereo! However, if you then floor it to overtake (still in 6th say) it will be significantly louder and a drone/bellow due to the extra engine load! At higher revs the noise is more of a rasp than a bellow... It's significantly louder than standard on cold start in the mornings and I was a little concerned to begin with that it's too loud, but it's grown on me (not had any complaints from the neighbours... yet!). In my opinion it's a nice pleasant noise that's better than standard and gets louder and angrier the harder you drive the car... Which is kind of perfect I think 🙂

Just found the bit I 'removed' from the looms to free up some space. It's a foot long!!
