Has anyone tried the tein mono sports? Just wondered if they were an upgrade over the flex A’s. Im allowing for rear lower arms and adjustable front drop links. I would like to lower it whilst keeping the most of the handling traits that I can
-
Can I ask what the recommended drop is whilst still keeping it practical. I was planning on 25mm but having a quick look I think I may go 30-35mm. Just aiming to get rid a lot of the arch gap

Thanks

Don’t want to sound stupid but have you held in the reset button so it resets to your current pressures?

I’m the same as Martin had the res but found it was to loud so have swapped the centre pipe to super res and think it’s much better. I still have the 2nd cat. The super res is far from quiet really. I’d go super res then if you want it louder can buy my res pipe which is cheaper than going the other way 😁

Hi, planning a big trip in my gt86 in a few months and just gave a question about using a spare wheel. I currently have 18s running 225/40, I’m going to try and get a spare wheel in 18” but if I can’t could I run the standard rim if I had a puncture? I think there is a 3% difference in tyre size would this work ok or will it throw off the abs sensors? Also do you know of anywhere I can buy single wheels from? Not fussed on the look thanks

Thanks I didn’t know about the diff so I will definitely bear that in mind

Just had another trip back to TD to get a few little bits ready so the car is now fully sorted for the summer and a trip to the ring later in the year. I went for the ebc yellowstuff pads and braided line package, i ran these on my previous car and was impressed with how they handled that so it should only be better on the lighter Toyota. I also got the cam plate cover changed to just help stop any leaks before it does happen and the 4.67 final drive. It’s only been a day but so far the pads seem to be bedding in well, had plenty of chances to use them on the way home as the M6 was a carpark for most of the journey. The FD change definitely feels a lot better to me, I will do another review in a week or 2 but so far so good only downside is now at a true 75mph the revs are about 350 more than before but to be honest the mpg didn’t seem to bad on the screen the limited time I could put my foot down but it definitely has a bit more go on the motorway when I’m 6th. Also I think it might help my mpg as a lot of my driving is around town and I think I can now comfortably go 1 gear higher than I would as standard, got a lot of 30&40mph roads here and now it sits quite nice in 6th at just over 40 with out to much strain on the engine as standard the display was always telling me to change from 5th to 6th but it never seemed very happy at this low revs about 1600rpm whereas now it sits at 2000rpm in 6th and seems a lot smoother. I also got a couple of changes made to my map as I was never happy with the low idle these cars have so I bumped that up to about 1000rpm and also had the full power map’s throttle sensitively lowered a bit and again it’s only been a day but it feels so much nicer with the map and diff change even the wife commented that it seems so much smoother

Sounds a good plan to me 👍 I’m just up TD at the moment getting the final drive swap done on mine

Toyota advertising standard specification which is not fitted to their car

Never looked at the manual or spec but I was under the impression they all had frameless mirrors to save weight so an auto dimming one would never cross my mind nor would I see that as reason for rejection -

I find it a bit sad that you’d buy a performance pack then complain about a lack of dimming mirror. Sounds more like you’ve wrote the car off so are trying to claim back your money from Toyota rather than your insurer -
Have you done many more miles on the turbo? If so you have any more feedback?

Hi, I was just after some feedback on the 4.67 final drive if anyone has any opinion regarding it. i have always planned on turboing my 86 however the more I think about it the more I think it would be wasted on me 95% of the time I would barely get any chance to use boost as most of my journeys are short 10-15mins so by the time it gets up to temp I wouldn’t get chance to use it before letting the turbo speeds drop. So this has got me thinking again about changing my fd, I know in some situations it would be quicker and other times it’ll be slower than stock but I think for most of my driving which is sitting around 2-4k driving through traffic the extra torque should make quite a difference would it not? if I did decide on changing it and eventually going turbo has anyone ran this? I can imagine it being quite lairy but 3rd and 4th fear pulls should be decent

Thanks, are you happy with the change? The more I think it about it the more I think it will suit my driving style more as prob 90% of my time is spent around the city so low speeds and stop start driving
-
How loud is the whine? And is it constant? Do you still hear it with the radio on? That’s sort of my thinking at the moment I think I might get a bit more fun and engagement rowing through the gears quicker not really bothered about the mpg and noise as I think it’s only about 300rpm difference right
-
Thanks for the feedback. I do already have the TD manifold and map. I know what I’m like so I probably will end up with the turbo anyway but that’s 18months away really so I was thinking of some smaller things I could do to liven it up a bit in the mean time
-
I get that from a racing standpoint where it loses out with extra gear changes and if your on track then it may make you slower. But in general day to day driving I can’t see how it can’t be a positive, my thinking is on the local roads which here are 40mph dual carriageways and nsl. when your not really pushing it surely it’s going to have me more get up and go in amongst the traffic when say cruising at 3000rpm
-
Ah I think it might be related to distant travelled as I just done a straight 10min drive at 70 and the light came on.

Can I ask what year yours is? I’m wondering if any changes have been made on the facelift models as my light has still yet to return
