I noticed more of a drop in MPG from the AD08R than fitting the SC kit. A good 5mpg I reckon over the primacies.

Your logic is good and for road and occasional track the V105s seem decent. I'd just add that the AD08R is a much better all rounder than the R888 which is a semi slick. When warm their wet grip is pretty damn good, only problem is you are unlikely to get them warm in the wet unless on a trackday! As an estimate I would say the AD08R has 80% of the wet grip of a Pilot Super Sport when cold, but more prone to aquaplaning in heavy rain due to the reduced tread. I love them, its just the road noise which is the most annoying aspect, but you cant have your cake and eat it I'm torn between PSS (would like more winter grip as a daily) or just go for the cup 2s and live with the low winter grip.

It depends a bit on the tyre choice as some are wider than others for a given size. the difference between 235/245 is negligible IMO just pick the compound you want and fit the cheapest one. I run 235/40 R18 on my 9J rims. Its not ideal, but AD08Rs are quite wide due the the small radius corner and cant be had in 245/35. Both the PS4 and Cup 2s cant be had in 245/35 either If the PS4 are too pricey the V105 are probably the best bet. I can recommend sport contact 5s as I have them on my Merc, but they are also PS4 money.

I dont think running a smaller restrictor should affect the tuning, but best to talk to Mark@Abbey Quite a few people have blown rods at that power level, and others have done 40k miles and multiple track days without issue. That's down to the manufacturing tolerances of the rods. Something about 'notch sensitivity' in the casting of the conecting rods. Its the reason the Cosworth kit is limited to 280hp on the stock engine. -

First thing I would say is that 288HP at the hubs is danger territory for the connecting rods which are a weak point with this car. I know of at least one person @GT86Jay blew a rod on that sort of power. He now runs a smaller restrictor with a new engine and has been for some time. Looking at the design of the M7, I cant see it being quiet, but then that a subjective matter! Putting the stock frontpipe (with OEM cat) in place of the HKS one will make a it a bit quieter. Regarding the coilovers, they look decent with a good amount of stoke. Coilover tend to be firm, but good dampers tend to make it ride nicer when going over stuff at speed i.e. on the motorway. These are 6kg front springs and 5kg rear springs, so I would expect it to be less tail happy than a stock gt86. Fitting the HKS V2 SC does require a little modification to the metal work for piping but nothing stuctural. You could remove the SC and ask Mark at Abbey to put a stock tune back on it. Just make sure the area where it is cut is properly protected, which I am sure it will be anyway. -
H&S are not the cheapest but their quality is top notch and comes with a lifetime warranty (subject to their conditions).

So pricing looks like this: Cat-Back with 70mm piping and the extra larger center silencer £650 + VAT Exhaust Tips of your choice: Varies but roughtly ~£75+VAT Helmholtz Resonators: £275+VAT Above priced are fitted. Please note this system differs from their standard offerings in that it has 70mm pipe diameter and the extra larger middle box is bigger than their "larger center silencer" on their website. If in doubt talk to Ian at H&S about your needs.

Unless something is broken it should be a doddle. Make sure you press the cable feed into the housing properly. Ive had the door cards for both doors off at least twice.

Sorry I wasn't trying to start a great debate. Just wanted to warn you, but looks like you have it covered. Everything written on the ft86club is gospel to some and subject to copy and paste at times. I tried different compounds front and back when trying to make the decision on brakes (mine moves bias back about 10%) and found that a more forward bias than stock makes the car feel a bit more nose heavy trailing into a corner, on the flip side, obviously too much rear and they lock first, engaging ABS. Tyres, suspension, weight of driver , subwoofers in the boot ect all have an effect on the subjective feel of the car. So best to follow the advice of Ian who has tried and tested the setup rather than the internet copy and paste brigade. I got flamed for running project mu Clubracers up front and HC800+ on the back, simply because I didnt want to fork out another £180 for a set of rear pads. When I asked the person why it a bad idea (after being told by the project mu distributor it will work fine) for evidence (i.e friction vs temp charts), he didn't have any using the usual excuse "its confidential". Let us know how you get on. I want something with more bite up front on mine.

Careful, the friction coefficients vs temperature vary between compounds. Best fit the same front and back otherwise you end up with too much up front in my experience. Its workable though.

Jag F-Pace V6 looking likely. Once the kids leave home and mortgage paid in full; Porsche GT3 Favorite engine of the lot was the 4A-FE. Its a narrow valve angle head version of the 4A-GE. So reliable and thrashable. Smooth as silk too.

It does looks good. The chap that bought my stock cat back was planning to do something similar. Sound like its really loud when bypassing though!

Do you know what kind of silencer they fitted? Offset sounds like it might be a chamber type silencer. Good for reducing sound but can lack high frequency attenuation giving the rasp. Just a thought.

I dont think it will be that quiet with a catless manifold and frontpipe. Leguna Seca is very strict.... and you see stuff like this 😂

Hi Despite my best efforts to keep my wheels shiney, the silver bits are starting to get some brake dust/dirt/crud stuck to them. I use Pro Valet Bilbury Wheel cleaner with and EZ clean brush and a detailing bush. It removes the worst of it, but still leave the tougher stains behind. Whats the best way to clean off stubborn brake dust marks on my wheels? Can I use a polish of some kind? Also while I am here, my wheels tend to accumulate dirt in the corners of the spokes. I can clean it off if I scrub it buggery, but again is there an easy way to loosen the dirt? Pressure washer struggles to remove it! All advice appreciated, cheers

I actually thought t it was common knowledge! Everyone has different levels of tolerance/desire for noise. I dont want to hear anything more than a mild burble wot at 3krpms, the sort of level you have to listen for rather than be forced to hear it. Plenty of people couldn't see what I was complaining about with my last cat back which was 92dB@5k. Certainly with the stock cat back its very quiet, but everywhere which is not what I wanted. Also small piping. The Cossy SC adds approx 3dB to the standard noise test at 5k rpms over N/A. Higher power from the SC will add more. More flow = More noise.

Absorption silencers do attenuate, but more so at the high rpms. So yes it would help for sure in the same way the H&S system is quieter than my cossy exhaust. It wasnt intended to be point scoring in the same way your comment about turbos having the benefit of lowering noise to be point scoring. TBH I doubt it will ever get weighted unless I need to remove it from my car for whatever reason. I've pinged Ian the question to see if he knows. Moving on... The point with this system, is that with the helmholtz resonators, its still got volume higher up in the rev range, but the lower range where you cruise on the motorway, noise is attenuated more so by the helmholtz chambers which are designed to target 3k rpms. So its not necessarily a system for people that want a quiet exhaust, like a Q300, rather its a high flow 70mm design with a high pass filter for noise so that it still sounds fairly meaty up top. Its a debate until someone actually measures it for comparison. I drove the AVO car with a smaller, faster spooling turbo and wasn't convinced it was for me. That's my opinion on the matter, now back on topic please!
