There is an improved coilpack in use in the states. I would assume here too but this is a common picture I see on the 86 track cars group: spares.....

Tit.

The spirited drive in Will's video, plus the drive down and back, was still in the low to mid 30's. Plus, ya know, turbo noises. So yeah. Turbo noise is nice. I miss that, though now I have a quieter exhaust I can a little whine at least.
-
P.s. my spirited drives in a bone stock car were around 20-23mpg 😂
-
On the contrary, your supercharged setup will never see 40mpg cruising and 35mpg on a spirited drive. I'd take the savings in fuel and fitting over a degree or two lower IAT. Personal preference. Sure. Not trying to spark a great debate just saying air to water isn't bad when designed well. Fuel consumption is not as bad as you'd think though.
-
That's near enough the Kerb weight of the RS6! Which has 605hp on tap, huge boot space, proper rear seats and all weather ability! I know what i'd rather have as my daily cruiser, despite the understeer [emoji38] The RS6 has got to be one of the fastest A to B cars that can fit 5 ppl in comfort.

Don't want to derail the thread but that's not fair to lump them all into the air to water is rubbish group just becuase the sprintex was poorly designed. I have yet to see a kit produce lower IATs than my cossy which is air to water to air. My oem Mercedes C Class is also supercharged with air to water intercooling and does well in regards to IATs There are plenty of air to air turbo kits that over heat at the track too because the intercooler is undersized. Not that I am suggesting this one is, rather I hope it's not as a twin charged cosworth setup could be fun!
-
Yes it will be. Unless stuck in traffic your intake temp should be the same as ambient. Perhaps a 1 or 2C different due to sensor/calibration errors. Mine never read more than 1C different when hooning.
-
What? you have the TD turbo kit?
-
I'd agree with that. It will be the size of the intercooler and the airflow throguh it that will determine the IATs when lapping a circuit.
-
Fantastic. I'm just gonna say it. This kit could work very nicely with a Cosworth SC kit
-
I have to say, that sounds bleddy fantastic. I think this kit might be the new go to turbo kit for the 86 platform. I would be interested to see IAT data from a trackday or two at some point.

There are people in the states running slicks on the standard oiling to be fair! According to element tuning its only when you start running down force that the oiling becomes an issue.... Our cars suffer from fuel starvation on long, high G, left handers. Running intermittent fuel starvation creates very lean burn and blow torch effect. The fuel starvation is made worse by 1. Tyres and 2. how much you drink, so FI or E85 makes it worse. I know of a chap with a Cosworth SC and was running Hosier A7s at the track and managed to blow a hole in one of his pistons due to fuel starvation. Presumably he thought it was the VSC kicking in or something as its quite noticeable when it happens!

Firstly, I commend you for wanting to keep the stock setup. Its very good! Its not the dampers that have the trouble, rather the soft springs. What tyres are you thinking of @maurice? Good tyres like AD08R not a problem.
-
I think if I was to go for a proper semi slick it would be AD048 or DZ03G but I fear for my engine with those.
-
Perfect for Porsches.....

I would say the cup2's are far closer to a road tyre than a semi slick is what I was saying. I don't think I'd have them again as I've been disappointed in the grip compared to the RSR's. The main advantage the Cup2's have over the RSR's is wear - even after use this year they still have 5mm of tread left. My AD08Rs have been amazing for wear. After 4 trackdays they have tons left.
-
I know that, but hardly makes it fair if you are racing in a class against an RS and you cant fit them.
-
I've not tried the AD08R but I can say that the Cup2's have no where near the grip of the 595RSR's and feel far more like a normal road tyre in comparison. Hence my closer to a semi slick comment. They are faster than an ad08r in the dry. Pretty sure they will be my next tyre.
-
Tyre lists are out already Lauren https://www.msauk.org/assets/196-208commonregulationsforpermittedtyresl-1.pdf Seems unfair that pilot sport cups 2s are on the a1 list if an oem fitment when though AD08R are not. Cup 2s are definitely closer to an all out semi slick.

Here's some fun with a track prepped MX5

First cam footage from Bedford 02/12/16. Fun with a E92 M3.

I used to eat about half a set of soft pads on one day! Clubracers are another thing altogether....
-
I think im going to look for something a tad more aggressive than the streetmasters once they are shot. I was getting them a bit hot and causing pad smear after 20mins or so....
