Not sure as the cup 2s also have a stiff sidewall beign a semi slick, i'd expect them to be louder! Arnt the PS4's supposed to be as good as the MPSS in the dry but better in the wet/cold?
-
I use the car 2-3times a week for a short commute (usually taking a detour). The AD08Rs are okay in the cold and wet you just have to be aware of the grip levels as in the warm dry they are very impressive. They have metal mesh in sidewalls so make the ride quite a bit stiffer as well as road noise. Also in extreme wet where there are deep puddles they are more prone to aquaplaning than a normal performance road tyre. I love them. Will either be a set of these or pilot sport cups next.

I know this is an old thread but does anyone know the dB level of the stock exhaust using the rac blue book noise test (I.e. trackday test)?
-
Ouch on the way home! I assume covered under warrenty then. What tyres are fitted? Oil starvation = damaged big end shells = rod knock
-
That sounds like rod knock. How was the oil level? any track days?
-
Rob you need to update your thread! Any plans to dyno the car to see if you've gained anything?
-
@TTR are you coming to bedford?
-
Cool, there is now 5 on the list with a provisional from @rob275 and @HariboPenguin that's a great turnout, but more the merrier!

Possibly, but my better safe than sorry opinion still applies. For the sake of the costs of aluminium spigot rings its a no brainier rally. P.s. the issue of plastic spigots has been done to death and I wasnt trying to start a debate, rather give my view which is what forums are for. Some evidence of stud failures here but my comments come from a friend who is a well respected chassis engineer. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=45169

This is a big misconception. If your wheel takes a big hit, they can move. The wheel studs are not designed to take a load in the that direction and can fail. In this case it better safe than sorry IMO. Regarding melting spigots, I wasn't referring to them turning molten, rather changing shape meaning you don't center the wheel properly.

These are similar to the ones I got: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Metal-Rim-Alloy-Wheel-HubCentric-Spacers-Spigot-Rings-73-1-x-56-1-Full-Pack-of-4-/131988775724?hash=item1ebb24e32c:g:nYsAAOSwal5YF5tQ I did a quick search and couldn't find any 68mm-56.1 alloy spigot rings.
-
Just a warning, some people have melted the plastic spigot rings when they got the brakes really hot. Aluminium ones are a better choice in that regard. No easy to find in the UK, I got mine from ebay shipped from Australia!

Let's be honest. Tyres make far more difference than weight. Most of the high end tyres are heavy with steel mesh in the sidewalls. Sure every little counts when you are racing, but most people will get more from some driver training than worrying about a extra kg of unsprung. I'm not going to lie, part of my wheel choice was the lightness of them (took me 4 months to get them from canada) because I'm a bit anal about stuff. I think although my wheels are 2kg lighter than stock, my tyres are heavier than the primacies so overall they weight about the same or possibly a tad more. I can't say I noticed the interia from moving the weight further out tbh.

OZ Superforgiata 19x8.5s are 7.3kg and cost £1700 per wheel!

Guilty pleasures. What would you give up your GT86 for?
Ade replied to Nicebiscuit's topic in Non GT86/BRZ General Chat
I doubt even the TD turbo kit has a great wedge of torque low down, as it'll bend the rods. Looknig at their dyno plot, torques steadily rises till about 4000rpm where it stay relatively flat. http://i286.photobucket.com/albums/ll83/tuningdevelopments/TD86 Turbo Comparison_zps5lsxekma.jpg~original compare that to the 235i which peaks at 3700rpm and is putting out significantly more TQ at 3k-5k that it is at the red line of 6800rpms. -

Wheel torque is what you feel, so gearing comes into it. Also its more about torque curve. Those engines have more torque low down than up the top which makes them feel more pokey. Its one of the reason people thing the GT86 is under-powered compared to an eco boost fiesta ST. On paper they are 321ps and weigh 1.5 tons so 214hp/ton. A turbo gt86 is the same as that, but the BMWs are under rated for power and also torque curve as mentioned above. -
I will be interested to see if you can get the coilpacks replaced. I haven't had an issue yet, but you never know...

Does the corolla handle as well as the Celica? I've heard they are a bit rubbish.

One day you'll get a proper ride in my car!

Is there a date when the prices go up and how much by? I won't know if I can take the day off work till next week. Need to test if it will meet the noise limit too. I think static should be fine just unsure about drive by. It goes up once they have a certain number signed up I think.
-
Excellent Choice! What pads did you order with it?
-
Surely you just need to ensure they put big enough silencers on the car. 101dB is still pretty loud!
-
4 GTs on the list now.... @rob275 @TTR @will300 @Special K @Apex @Rich @Paul... prices will go up soon!

boooo another one bites the dust.
