    Clutch/Gearbox headache!

Mine does this too. Put it in neutral with the clutch up and you get a whirring/grinding from the gearbox. I think there's a free spinning shaft in the gearbox rattling, when you press the clutch it stops spinning. Its alway done it but made worse by the white line insert.
  3. Last time I spoke to Adrian they don't do engine builds themselves. Not sure who they send it to though. The cosworth block came to them direct and was built by the same cosworth technicians that built the f1 engines.

    Reiger Suspension shocks!

I mean you could be right. As you know it's down to the user to set spring rates and damping on higher end stuff.

    Reiger Suspension shocks!

Not seeing it still to be honest? Looks no different to the Motons to me? Your motons are quite good at the back! 15% more travel then my Ohlins and about 20% more than the tein flex A. They were similar up front though. These you can't really tell.

    Reiger Suspension shocks!

Difficult to see where they've found the extra travel from though Rears look like they have tons.

    Reiger Suspension shocks!

3kg is not soft if you have enough suspension travel. Our coilovers have to be firm as they lack travel.
  8. I heard a rumour this is fixed.

    Taking the FI plunge

The TD kit does look very impressive for the money and I suspect part of the reason is that it is designed an made in the UK. All the other kits the distribution takes a good chunk of the overall costs. What's the turbo like in the TD kit? Should you expect 50k+ miles out of it like an oem?
  10. Give it a month and I predict Hayward and Scott will have something with a big bore and quiet......

    Engine coolant

I filled mine with Millers Alpine Red Coolant mixed with Deionised water. As nerdstrike say if you are flushing the system make sure you used de ionized water.

At those speeds you have plenty of airflow. Things get hot when you go wot coming out of slow corners where you have less airflow. I.e. on a twisty track. I'm only curious really but I do like to see some information from the various setups. The TD kit certainly looks very good value.

That does seem very good. What IAT did you see when testing around a circuit?

Hi Mike. Deffo if I'm in the area.

    Hi from down south

My scooby experience happened. He's got a custom gtx2871 on a built motor with around 340 wheel HP. Very fast. Its a small turbo (I'm told) and I was really impressed with the power delivery. It felt very linear. Not what I was expecting at all. He didn't want to throw it at any corners though. When I did throw my 86 at the corners and induced a bit of tail 'wiggle' it was all a bit too much for him! Sounds like he's more of a point and squirt kinda guy.

If you do intend to track the car and you push the car then Id think very carefully about the turbo kit you choose. Few concerns I'd have with a turbo mounted that high: 1) other turbo kits with the turbo located where it is have trouble with getting a bit hot and melting plastic buts in close proximity to both the turbo and the exhaust manifold. 2) what are IATs like are after trashing around a track for 30minutes? Sure it can be made safe but if its going to lose a significant portion of its power at the track you'd want to know about it before purchase.

    Rich's Ginger 86

There should be a couple of threaded holes on the front of the disc, M8 or something, you can put a bolt in each one and tighten gradually until the disc cracks from from the hub. Anyway glad you got them off. Did you need to adjust the handbrake? My DBA discs were way off in that respect.

I said it made hardly no difference to tram lining. I am advocating that a square spring rate setup with plenty of camber up front gives a nice balance in my opinion. I'm probably going to be at Bedford on the 2nd December.

Exactly. Everything effects everything! Wasnt trying to start a great debate. Your pretty happy with your roll bar setup and that all that matters! P.s. Sorry Rob

    Robs S/C GT86 Project

I havent had an issue tram lining getting worse with added negative camber. I had camber set to 0degrees, -2degress, -2.5degress and -2.7degrees. Difference between 0 and -2.5 was minimal. I dont do a lot of road miles, but inside wear will likely be an issue if you do. Not arguing adding camber is a the better option, just pointing out that a 6kg/6kg setup with lots of camber up front doesn't under steer as much as a setup with low front camber - its obvious really. 0deg up front was worse than stock in terms of balance. There are two trains of thought regarding suspension. The old school English way which is soft springs and big bars and the modern approach which uses springs to control roll stiffness. Both have pros and cons: Roll bars reduce wheel independence which means you get reduced loading on the opposite side over bumps. Worse case would result in wheel hop. Stiff springs wear out dampers quicker due to the higher requirement for damping, make the ride stiff, reduce droop travel ect. One thing people never consider when adding or reducing spring rates is the effect it has on the bump and rebound travel. Putting softer springs at one end without appropriately increasing preload will reduce the available bump. The effect could be riding the hard bumpstops in corner which is effectively adding roll stiffness to the front and making understeer worse than a slightly stiffer spring. I'm not saying thats the case for Laurens setup of course. The bumpstops are often an integral part of suspension design. Here an illustation for how the bumpstops are used on the ohlins road and track coilover for the MX5 In corners its resting on the bumpstops. Adding a softer spring here without additional preload would mean it hits the bumpstop sooner effectively adding roll stiffness and negate the desired effect of a softer spring. Its a complicated subject and very much a trial and error. I liked the stock setup with 16mm roll bars to be honest but there was a little wheel hop on the bigger bumps. Lot of different opinions on the forum, mine being one of them. There is a reason chassis engineers exist and good ones are paid very well.

    GT86 AVO Turbo

I remember meeting Ian at Fensport way back in 2012 before any of us had done any modifications and I remember the AVO turbo kit coming in and all of us drooling over it
