  1. That high revving 6 pot sound Yes it's good. I wouldn't personally swap mine for a cayman, having driven the previous generation cayman and booster s, but a gt3 should be a good step up!

For the AR1's it'd have to be 255/40/17 looking at the available sizes. That's massive for a near slick. You might struggle to get any heat in them. Could be wrong though. The TMG car runs 245 pirelli slicks but a soft compound.

    Big Brakes On Track

Stock disc and good pads go a long way, and are okay if you do short runs like a few laps only at a time. But if you want to do 20min or more sessions and you are fairly quick, the pads won't last long. I wasted a rather expensive set of ds2500 and a set of project mu hc800+ over the course of 5 trackdays. That's 300 odd £ in pads. The main problem being the taper in the worn pads but they were unusable. If you only want to do 10min sessions like a lot of people do, a good fast road pad works well. I like cosworth Street master. If you want to do a bit more then project mu hc800+ but you are getting into race pad territory so expect them to glaze easily and squeal a lot "around town".

The ad08r haven't been around that long @Deacon. Couple years. Before that it was ad08 which was a harder compound and before that it was the ad07. Cups are the semi slick. Okay in the wet but and ad08r will have the faster lap times and far less likely to aquaplane. In the dry they are a bit slower though. Ad08r also have a higher thread wear so will last longer. Not knock the cup2s thought which may be my next tyre just they are not aimed at the same performance segment. Ad08r are an extreme sumer tyre. Cup2s are a semi slick. I'd put the ad08r half way between the cups and pilot super sport.

    Big Brakes On Track

If you are not of track/race pad yet then don't worry about a big brake kit. AP do a kit that fit behind the stock rims. It's okay for na power but not if you have forced induction. 333mmx26mm it's a bit thin.

    Big Brakes On Track

Yes and no. Fronts are wrx 295x24mm disc. Rears are legacy 290x18mm with 190mm parking brake. In the long run bbk will save you in costs. I was going through a set of pads in 2-3 trackdays. Few popular options are: 1) sti brembos. Check out DanJs thread for info on that. 2) stoptech or ap gt86 kits 3) mine which are subaru wrx bbk for the front. You need to swap the bleeders as they are leading not trailing calipers. I bought and old set and got them refurbished with swapped bleeders. Some information on my thread about that (I think).
  7. If you arnt on track dedicated tyres, the cooler temps will only help tyre temps. Im tempted!

    Timing chain GT86

If you dont know how to set the timing, why on earth would you pull the engine before finding or figuring that out! I'd assume you would use the pink markers on the chain and a few strategic marker pen line to line everything up correctly but @Mark@Abbey M/S might be nice enough to give you a few pointers as he's built a number of these motors now.
  10. Up to the top. Open to offers. Need this gone to purchase a new head unit.

    Tyre advice required

I've got sport contact 5's on my Merc. Great wet and dry grip but overheat when you start pushing on too much. The Yoko V105s seem to do okay on the track by comparison. I've got AD08Rs which I really like. Surprising wet weather grip too even when cold but I have yet to try then in winter temps.
  13. Nice man, glad you went with the monosports. I look forward to a ride as I was very close to get a set of these until Nigel decided to sell the last ever MI20 Ohlins which I couldn't resist. I'm running 18x9 et35 with 235/40 AD08Rs. Bit too much stretch for my liking too but they dont do the AD08R in 245/35, so it was between 235/40 and 255/35 which were quite a bit heavier, so I went with the 235/40.... they are 3% oversized so now your speedo will be accurate! Might want to consider these to keep the rim edge nice as they pick up stone chips easy. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Rimblades-Alloy-Wheel-Edge-Ring-Rim-Protectors-Tyres-Tire-Guard-Rubber-Moulding-/281365443648 Mine have a few tiny little stone chips already, especially after Blyton when I kept going wide at port Froid trying to go faster

  15. Some of you may be aware that I am getting tired of my Cat Back exhaust. I think it sounds fantastic and one of the best sounding on the market, but the old man inside me finds it a tad loud. Current Exhaust is the Cosworth 3" cat back. It measures 92dB using the 1meter/45degree test, so not exactly loud but I find it undesirable on longer journeys. This is not the crazy loud full Cosworth exhaust some of you would have heard at the open day - this is just the cat back. My aim is very little noticeable noise on the motorway. I dont mind a little rumble, but with the current setup small amounts of throttle and it gets loud/boomy at 3k rpms so its okay when cruising on the flat but any hint of throttle to overtake or go uphill and it gets boomy. Its a subjective thing, and many don't consider this to be "loud" but I do and have decided it is time to swap it out for old man mode exhaust. Current list of alternatives are: Invidia Q300 - very quiet and popular with people that swap the manifold out. You tube videos vary. Some it sounds quite loud and other it sounds almost stock. Miltek resonated - You tube videos make this sound louder than the Q300 with a more bassy tone. Bliz Nur Sec C-TI - very quiet but small bore and chamber type back box makes it as restrictive as the stock back box. Ear plugs - Cheap and effective but then I wouldn't be able to hear passenger talking to me. Custom - could ask H&S to make me a massive straight through back box and fit a large silencer in the mid pipe. Might be expensive but also might be able to retain the "3 piping. Does anyone else have any real world experience and possible alternatives? Budget up to £1k

    Help Ade pick an exhaust!

Thanks for the offer Mike. I have seen it on your website and it does look have a nice big back box similar to the Perrin cat back but I am looking to go bigger. A Supercharger makes the exhaust louder and combined with a good header it will be loud (for my preferences) with pretty much any cat back. so I need something big. I'm aiming for a bock box to be similar size to the stock back box but absorption type rather than a baffled box.

    Help Ade pick an exhaust!

The Greddy is quite abit louder apparently but yes the ultimate aim is to fit something like the ACE or Cosworth manifold so I want as quiet as possible. My main issue with the quieter exhaust is the pipe diameter as I am 280hp but this could easily turn into 350hp in the future. I'm in talks with H&S to make a custom 2.75" cat back with as large as physically possible back box and center silencer.

    Help Ade pick an exhaust!

IIRC ~250-260 bhp hub I had him down as 248huh hp but wasn't sure. Don't the sprintex run 240hp with a cat back? Or has mark improved on that?

    Help Ade pick an exhaust!

I'm in talks with Hayward and Scott about a custom exhaust with a massive OEM sized rear back box and potentially 2.75-3" bore
