    Tein Coilover Spring Rate rationale

Tyres and alignment make a big impact on handling balance. For example, -3deg camber at the front will have a fair bit more grip than -1deg camber. Grippier tyres can change the balance of the car too. On the flip side, these flex A have quite a bit less travel at the front compared to the back, so if you drive on really bumpy surfaces the front hits the bump stops first. The HBS helps but at the end of the day the front hits the stops quite a bit earlier which can cause understeer. Our resident automotive engineer (worked on chassis for OEM applications) quickly realised this an remidied it with longer 7kg front springs and a bit of preload. You lose the ability to go really low though. Sure you'll get more understeer on smooth surfaces but on rough surfaces he got more grip up front. My point is that its never that simple. I wouldnt want to got any softer than 6kg/mm on the front on the flex A's.

    hks hypermax coilover

I think the hypermax GT are 6kg/mm front and 4kg/mm rear Its the SP that are 8kg/mm front and rear.
  4. Mine barely lasts a week now. I think I may have to look into getting a new battery. I wonder what my dealer will say about getting me one under warrenty with a supercharger fitted
  5. Hi Lauren, Sorry to hear you have a problem. Hopefully it is just the battery. I've lost count how often mine has gone flat! I dont drive it for weeks sometimes....

    Door Speakers

Those IS 165Toy speakers look like they have a capacitor in series with the tweeter wiring which forms a high pass filter. The bass units probably dont have a crossover as they naturally roll of as frequency increases. They look good to me for use with the OE headunit due the high sensitivity, and can be had for £145 from amazon: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Focal-IS165TOY-Component-Speakers-Fortuner/dp/B010TR7NBM

Does anyone have a garage reservation?

    Cosworth exhaust fitted

Lauren the cosworth demo car has the full 3inch system complete with catless manifold. I think captain g must have just the cat back which is much quieter with the two cats still in place and smaller diameter pipes. Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
  13. Lee has clubsports on his GT86.... perhaps he might chime in. They are not in the same league as the motorsport stuff. With your budget I'd be looking at the Raceseng Penskes..... Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
  14. I would love to see that! I've been in a TMG cup gt86 with TTX 36 two ways. 12kg/mm front and 14kg/mm rear springs. It was ridiculously stable over curbes. Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
  15. Hi Nigel. Captain Snooze has the two way 5200: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=80007 A few have the 5100 one way adjustable but I wouldn't bother with that for your beast. Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk

    Pitman's Toyota Sprint Series car

WTF is with all this negativity. I think it a very nice thing that Nigel, Pitman et al are doing. We can learn alot from what these guys are doing. For example, yesterday I found myself looking through Pitman's thread on the other club looking for info on his oil cooler setup that I saw about 2 years ago..... Another time I was look though Nigels thread looking for the nylon pinch weld standoffs he made for axel stands I remember seeing a while back. Another time it was to get a good look at the sump and the internal baffle. Big or small all these little bits are useful to differnet people with different goals.

    Pitman's Toyota Sprint Series car

I think Im gonig to have to make more effort to come to a sprint series to see all these motors on show! Good effort on jack stands on your drive! Which Tein coilovers have you fitted?

    NA ECU tuning

I wouldnt say it was an issue Lauren. I was just saying that intake without a remaps adds about 6hp. I agree with what you said. Not sure in the circumstances around Keiths car, but the same dyno can vary a bit with age and envirometal conditions so 6/12/18 months ago it might have read significantly different, higher.

    NA ECU tuning

That sounds about right for a remap and exhaust. If I was staying NA I would have probably got a remap but I put it towards a FI solution.

    NA ECU tuning

Just to throw a spanner into the works. I've been thinking about getting a remap on my car and have had the remap on my insurance since January. However, we did a rolling road day last Sunday at Tuning Developments. My car made more power than the remapped cars. All three of us have similar mods, induction, 2nd decat and an exhaust system. Just to make it more interesting, my car made 201.6bhp having covered 75K miles. It made exactly the same power as it did on the same rollers at 10K miles. Of the two remaps, one was 199.6bhp and the other 195.4bhp (IIRC). If I was going to have a remap then I'd want my car to make more power, not less. So I remain somewhat unconvinced. Both of these remaps were done by Fensport on the road rather than using a rolling road. For comparison on the same rollers a stock car made 189bhp. Dont forget the exact same dyno can vary with environmental conditions and time. That intake you have Lauren confuses the ECU into thinking less air is going into the engine that actually is, so it runs leaner than the map in ECU is set to run at, which is one way to get some more power from a remap because these engine run very rich. Because of this you might see less gains than 10-12 hp from a remap. I see your point here. I never bothered with a remap (and I dont have an intake) because the cost of a licence and tune (~£500) didnt seem worth it for 10-12hp. I do suspect your car is a particularly good one and coupled with the miltek and intake you've probably added 10hp.

    Nigel's Daily Driver.

I'm going to start with -30mm at the front and -25mm at the rear. It sound like Apex are getting the kit in first to imspect before they mail it on to me...

    Nigel's Daily Driver.

Yes indeed I just meant that to compliment the MP20 which has soft springs and no top mounts, they have the new MI20 with the firmer springs and solid topmounts. I'd have the old kit if I could still get it. I'm not sticking the the spring rate of either of the MI20 kits anyway. Have you had the chance to play with damper settings?
