Replacing the aerial is the advice I've been given, the Kinetics from Dab on Wheels seem to have a good reputation but I've not gathered enough courage to pull the pin and drop the roof lining etc. https://www.dabonwheels.co.uk/product-category/dab-car-aerials/roof-mount-aerials/

Yeah its coming through the sharkfin. I went back and grumbled about the DAB reception and queries where it was getting the signal (nothing stuck on the screen) and they said it used the sharkfin on the BRZ which is powered. I spoke to someone else about it recently to see if they could tell me what connectors are up there and he suggested sticking an aerial on the window All he could tell me from the parts diagram is that there are 3 wires coming from the sharkfin (power, FM and DAB I guess), I reckon there's only 1 way to find out for sure what connectors are on the end of them – drop the headlining I do find it strange that the standard BRZ head unit doesn't have DAB, but does have a DAB capable sharkfin, whereas the GT86 comes with DAB but doesn't work with the fin!

At the list price it wasn't an option for me and certainly wouldn't be worth it, but my dealer misquoted it and honoured his quote once he realised so it ended up costing about the same as if I was to go for a decent branded aftermarket unit, plus the steering wheel controls work fine with it. By 'made no difference' did he mean sound quality? I never used the original unit so can't really comment but it sounds good to me even through the standard speakers – let's face it there's so much ambient noise from the car and road that it's never going to be audiophile quality, plus my ears are knackered The Nav seems to work well when I've used it, the maps are clear enough for me, I just wish the voice would mix in with the music rather than cut it off. I started looking at map updates (for the future) and that's when I realised that the actual model number seemed a bit of a mystery – I'll come back to that in the future. I've looked at a few Focal install write-ups and they look straight forward enough – I should probably pull the pin myself. Good luck

An Alpine unit was the MY2017 Sat Nav upgrade option, and I think I'm the only person who got one! Now trying to find the model number is an impossible task, as you've found Alpine don't even refer to it on their site. I think its based on the INE-W997D but with buttons on the side like their Freestyle X702D-F set-up. Sorry, I know that's vague. It works well but I find DAB reception through the sharkfin a bit patchy so I'm looking at replacing that with a small whip. Of course trying to find out what connections are up by the aerial without dropping the headlining is proving impossible. I'm also considering the Focals at some point.

I got a new BRZ in December. Originally I had planned to get a one 1-2 years old but those that were for sale were quite expensive, and then came the question of had it been thrashed... I would have had to borrow cash for it anyway so just got a longer term. Since then (of course) there have been a few lightly used models come up for decent prices so maybe I should have held off, but patience is not my virtue. The Subaru dealer did me a decent deal (I think), certainly matching what was being offered by brokers. The BRZ spec is a match for the Pro which is what I'd have chosen in the GT86 - the reason for choosing the BRZ is the Toyota dealer wasn't pleasant whereas the Subaru dealer was, and i liked the blue. I got the Sat Nav installed, mostly for DAB (but reception is frustratingly patchy) as the dealer misquoted it and honoured the quote. I think the standard head unit in the GT86 has DAB so I probably wouldn't have for that. Parking sensors is the only other thing I've added.

Personally not a fan of the blue - it's a bit Volvo R-Design

Mine is only 3 months old so I do expect its a trait rather than a problem, next time I'm in the dealer I'll mention it too

I think I get the same sensation as you from 2nd to 3rd, I did wonder if I wasn't pressing the clutch far enough but it wont go any further so its not down to my leg. Would be interested to hear what the dealer says - I'd put my money on 'they just do that'

35 average on A- and B- road commute, but I expect that to come down a bit when the winter tyres come off. Standard car, same economy on 98 or 95 fuel

Amazon does list the thickness in the description, most of the Silent Coat is 2mm bit the extra thick stuff is 4mm: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Silent-Coat-Extra-375x265mm-Deadening/dp/B0045CYOWY/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&qid=1518007918&sr=8-12&keywords=silent+coat+sound+deadening They do list a starter set which might make a decent start on 1 door: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Silent-Coat-Starter-Deadening-Proofing/dp/B0045C8QLY/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1518007918&sr=8-8&keywords=silent+coat+sound+deadening I'm considering fitting the Focal upgrade so might do this too at the same time, would be interested to see how you get on.

Opening both doors using keyless entry (2017 BRZ)
Ledwardio replied to MartinT's topic in ICE/Electrical
Thank you, that has been such a PITA - I shall try it later -
Solution - Small wipers for MoT day, stored in the garage the rest of the year
-
For 2017 they only do the Lux spec BRZ, leather/alcantara though it doesn't have the armrest - I had to add that.

It's amazing isn't it? I bet he doesn't sell many cars with that kind of attitude. Keep looking, you'll get there.
-
Ha ha, it's an option.
-
Nice. I'd have my hand up but at the minute it would cause much marital unrests Maybe in the future
