    Hmm I can't make the 12th, 13th, 19th,20th of October. What about the 16th, 17th November?

Maybe we could take a trip to Brooklands or Denbies vineyard in Surrey perhaps?
  4. Thanks Subota Boy for organising today's meet up. I have to say what a great little place, the coffee was amazing and everyone was so friendly. You'll definitely find me hanging out there from time to time. Will you be posting pictures up in the appropriate gallery?

    Big brake kit time?

Isn't it great how we can all have a heated debate on the forum and still come out friends in the end. My analysis of everyone's input is: Fit a bbk with pretty much any reputable pad and disc combo will work. Stick with oem calipers and put a good disc and pad combo in for track use, you'll have no problems for most drivers. However eventually after extended stints on track the heat through the brakes will damage the caliper seal and cause a fluid leak. You could of course rebuild this you'll be good to go again for a limited time before having to repair again. That life expectancy is entirely based on driving habits and spirited driving mileage.

    Big brake kit time?

@Deaconthanks for posting that article that made things much clearer. Especially the part about bigger disc diameter being paired with smaller pistons which is what any decent bbk supplier would have done. @Knightrider57 pointed out the same fact. @gavin_twhat is your current setup that your comfortable with at the moment? From that article you can swap the rear pad for something more aggressive to balance the bias a bit more. All of this is a very delicate balance when you're using the car daily on the road of course. @church I guess we are lucky enough in the UK to not have the strict MOT laws.

    PFC.08 brake pads

That's pretty impressive performance from this setup. 30mins sessions on track is quite intense on the standard disc and caliper setup. I've seen your lap times and YouTube evidence to prove your not cruising round the circuit as well. Great to hear it works well from cold also.

    Big brake kit time?

I've done a few track days and agree the factory brakes are good for 1 or 2 hot laps before the heat fade ruins all the pedal feel. Several owners have done the sti brembo upgrade and zero have reported that they can really notice the bias change. Neither Ap racing or k sport list the bias percentage change but I reckon its a very similar case of bias will shift to the front. Can anyone confirm that they haven't crashed their car because of the bias shift?

    Big brake kit time?

The sti brembo conversion sends the bias to the front by roughly 7% doesn't it. I can't imagine many drivers being able to feel that sort of change in the cars handling characteristics. Let alone have it affect braking performance in such a negative way that it makes it dangerous in a heavy braking situation on the public road. Every big brake kit that I've seen for sale has never mentioned that it moves the bias forwards or backwards at all. Surely the load proportioning valves and the cars ABS/ EBFD systems will be able to adjust to these small bias changes. Otherwise no manufacturer would recommend a front big brake kit without a rear setup also?

    Surrey newbie

Welcome another ginger to the party. Car looks nice, has it been lowered?
  11. @GT86Jay is there any update as to whether this solves the issue? I've had the diff oil service done at 20k and fitted some coil overs on a 35mm drop. I can see the geo mess up with the driveshaft sat horizontal rather than sloping downwards. I'm also hearing a clicking noise when turning on full lock as well a new humming noise when driving down the road at any speed.
  12. That is a real shame, I always liked her on mythbusters.

    Sussex newbie

Hey another Sussex dweller. I'll look out for you on the roads or at a fuel coffee meet as I've been meaning to get to one of these. I also wanted a blue one before switching to Orange which I really like now.

    BBK Options

15+ track days and 3 sets of pads actually make me think those disc have done well to survive so much abuse. I've been in your car and there is reason you added the harnesses.

    BBK Options

@VAD17 if you're disks are worn on the edges more then is that an issue with the garage that fitted them, or just the design of the k sports? I thought the whole point of more pistons in the caliper was to give more even pad wear. I'd definitely invest in a jack to swap the pads although if you have solid ground then you could easily do it with the scissor jack so long as your not rolling around under the car. These bbk's are great but very very costly on initial purchase and then consumables. You really have to shop around because the price fluctuates so much.
  16. That's strange that it's rubbing especially with a stretched tyre. I normally use this website when seeing how a wheel and suspension setup would work on the 86 platform. https://www.ft86motorsports.com/wheelitfit/ Depending on where its rubbing I'd suggest some Coilovers with some negative camber to fit the wheel in better.
  17. I've definitely got the bacterial smell that you get every now and then. The same thing used to happen to my corsa c all the time. The bacteria builds up on the ac condenser radiator which is near the heater matrix. I used to get a can of ac cleaner and try to spray directly on this radiator that is usually behind the filter. I've not done it on the 86 yet but the car is a 2017 and I've had it since new. Two Toyota dealers have both said they can't smell it so do nothing about it. I will at some point try to spray the cleaner on when I replace the filter in a weeks time. I'll let you know how I get on.
  18. I've got standard front shocks and springs from my 2017 face-lift that had only done 20k before removing. Let me know if you're interested.

    Coilover advice

With mine lowered 35mm I haven't needed any adjustable drop links or rear lca's. Does depend on what your wheel preferences are going to be as well to keep the camber looking correct. @VAD17 has the flex a's fitted, does quite a few track days and daily drives it. He highly rates the flex a's on track. What you gain from the mono tubes on track you'll lose on the public roads.

    Coilover advice

I've just fitted some KW V3's which when adjusted to softer bound and rebound are very comfortable, my car is on the oem wheels and tires with a 35mm drop and the dampers are 3 clicks off softest setting. Germany quality stainless steel mean they will last a very long time and if you're likely to adjust the height alot they won't seize like most steel products. I do a track day once a year but more likely to do more after I've finished doing the mods that I want. When speaking to other owners about what I wanted from the suspension the kW V3's and tein flex a's were the most highly recommended. If you're fitting yourself then the flex a's go in much easier because they come with their own top mounts fitted and to swap these over requires spring compressors and open sockets or the use of an impact gun. Other than this the gt86 suspension swap is a breeze compared to most cars.
  21. If you pushed the pedal further does the Abs engage? I do think it's brake fade your getting also but just gauging how far your pushing the brakes.

    GT86 Crash Stevenage

I feel sad for all involved. The stupidity to stand in the middle of the road to spectate. Why did it have to be a GT86 involved. I did notice that there were more morons and hooligans at japfest this year.

    Recommendations on brake pads?

What engine you putting in? Not to run off topic but I've been recommended performance Friction pads for the occasional track day.

Bringing an 86 back from the dead

I find the whole air ride quite a technical challenge. Wheel fitment will be setup for stationary right? So what fitment that looks good stationary might look odd when your driving because of geometry changes. Do you have a bound and rebound adjustment at the touch of a button as well? Will you be at London cartel show at Ardingly? Would be cool to see the setup in the flesh.

    17” Gram Lights

Are you sure that these are 17x8.5j, because a 215/45/R17 would be stretched quite alot on 8.5inch wide wheels. Are there any markings on the inside of the wheels? Do you know the weight of the wheels?
