The clearance issue is due to the length of the card, my 7850's are only 23cm long but the 970 according to reviews is 312mm... my case has enough clearance for 312.5mm. I used to carry a Silverstone tj09 to LAN sessions. Back in the old P4 days (single core!) I used to build shuttle systems with custom heatpipe coolers on graphics cards (limited to single slot) way before they became the norm. Overclocked desktop CPU's and full size graphics cards back then was rare in something the size of a shoebox.

Accidentally ordered a Gigabyte GTX970 on ebay last week when a 20% off code was floating around and should be here soon... only downside is I only have 1mm (yes, 1mm) of clearance between the case fan and official graphics card measurement so it might not even fit. It's getting depressing sorting photos on a messy desk so I have a feeling I'll be giving it a blitz tonight. Decided to upgrade now as I ordered a rift which may or may not get delivered soon. Not quite the 980ti I wanted but a step up from the crossfired 7850's which no longer liked crossfire.

They have a trader section on the other side which has never been posted in.

Congrats! If you want to have a poke around a few other cars there will be a few in Scunthorpe tomorrow (Fri) night as the Toyota Sprint is starting at Blyton on the Saturday . Thread is around on these forums with details.

Need to see some inside shots. Can't see it being that popular with some families as the rear windows are tiny! -
All you'd need for that spec is a new graphics card to game at max again, cpu power hasn't been tapped in to much recently it's all on single powerful GPU's.

It's not April 1st yet!

Just seen this thread, congrats on having 2 GT86's. The blue one just down the road is mine

Originally built in 2009, it's had 3 new broom handles and 4 heads but still the same PC! Current spec as it mostly does photo/video editing: Intel Xeon x5650 Hex core overclocked to 4.0ghz (air) Asus P6T s1366 motherboard 24gb Tri Channel Crucial Ram Twin ATI 7850 Crossfire (Needs upgrading asap, 980ti on the christmas list) 500gb + 256gb SSD's Twin Dell 27" 1440p monitors and third Dell 22" 1050p File Server / spare: Dual core Intel with 64gb ssd OS drive, 2x 6TB WD Reds for storage, 2x 3TB Seagate drives for backups, 1x 1TB SSD for scratch disk. All passive/silent because it's 30cm away from where I sleep. No photos as it's a sleep-work-live space all in a 10sqm area. Working all hours I can to afford somewhere bigger now.

If you take your car in too many times for warranty work in the same month they stop doing the free "vac & sandpaper" attack. Getting the battery replaced was probably the easiest warranty replacement I've had on my car. Over winter it stopped functioning properly and the car would struggle to start from any journey less than 2 miles (bit awkward going to the cinema then stopping off at a supermarket on the way home. Push starting a car at 2am by yourself is not fun!) even if it had done long runs before. Battery was confirmed crap with whatever they use to test it and replaced straight away. The new one has handled short journeys, weeks at a time with no use (even with the doors locked/unlocked a few times in that downtime) and still starts with no problems.

I might turn up early, if you're all shit company then I'll pop next door to the cinema for a few hrs then come back later (then drive home because I'm too cheap to stay over)

Just to continue moaning about dealers I had the same one call me up as it flagged on their system my PCP was due to expire in 6 months time and now was the best time to get new car thoughts stuck in my head. Thought I'd play along as some other members had upgraded to Aero. The dealer wouldn't offer any figures over the phone for either a new car or my partex and promised a call back a week later to arrange a visit... No phone call. So out of curiosity I plugged in what I wanted in CarWow (fully loaded Aero) and 2 dealers came up with a fairly reasonable price that was better than the "manager's special" Steven Eagell run twice a year (one of them was a SE dealer too!). To see how well the dealers knew their product I messaged 3 of them to say I was interested and their price was competitive... but could they get hold of one in blue like the Jap/Euro markets had. Only one dealer replied to say they couldn't do blue as it's not manufactured in that colour (Jap/Euro/NZ do!), the rest didn't reply to my questions at all. I've learned the error of my ways, when I change car I'll probably buy from an owners club rather than new from dealer.

I get them all the time, what they "supposedly" do is they issue ~50-100 letters (yours is #48) from their database each month to offer a discount on a NEW car but you have to "reserve" your discount with the above code and car registration to talk to their head of sales about getting this exclusive not to be missed discount. I called them out on it last time and I asked what the good news is about my existing vehicle was and the sales person kept repeating that I could trade it in for a new one with a discount, but wouldn't tell me the value over the phone... how is this good news for my existing car? File it in the bin, if you want to trade in get a quote from anyone with a guide and go to carwow to buy.

For a Subaru garage... yes. Take it to Toyota and it's a "fixed price*" £179, or find a good local indy and save even more. https://www.toyota.co.uk/caring-for-your-toyota/service-and-maintenance/car-servicing.json (*Fixed price doesn't include required servicing parts at 20k/2yr unless you find a good dealer who does include it, so misleading calling it fixed price.)

On track at Woodbridge on this date, so I can't be there
-
Looking at how busy Bedford is getting and how little driving I do over winter I've booked in to Woodbridge on Sat 13th Feb because of how cheap it is and how empty the entry list currently is. It is an airfield and not a Circuit, and in the middle of nowhere. Quite like it because most runoff is solid rather than grass/kitty litter. If anyone else wants to come along you won't be the only ones there

I'm sure BBC have taken the list of people NOT to hire... and hired them.

This does happen. Mine used to do 12k a year but in January it racked up a massive 130 miles as I now walk to work

Both the windows are not broken, it's a safety feature if the motors detect it's frozen/frozen in the past then they need re-setting to avoid damaging the motors. There is a method to reset it but I can't remember it off hand but I've had to do it myself last winter. Random starting issues: could be the car battery, the Panasonic 48ah is a bit pants and some garages will replace with a 60ah one. Rear lights could be that they are screwed in too tight/loose affecting the seal, but some have been replaced under warranty. Key issue: try replacing the keyfob battery, it's supposed to be done at service but it might have been missed.

Yes, even if you've done 10 trackdays I'd still recommend it as they can help with lines, braking zones etc and get you up to speed much quicker than you figuring it out for yourself.
-
Will see what I can do for food, supposed to be on a stag do that weekend if they hurry up and plan it.
-
It would save 14 minutes on my journey time... tempted

Don't forget back then fuel duty was 4.5p less (2007 figure) and VAT was at 17.5% so there's half your costs. The rest will probably be blamed on increased operating costs and having to save money due to record fines issued for environmental damage.

PLEASE HELP: Feedback needed for new online quote for Prestige KM Insurance
Steeps replied to Tim@Prestige's topic in Insurance Companies
Ran a quote. The list of jobs available is very limited and none of it matched any role that I've had over the last 5 years or what other insurers offer in terms of job roles (usually there's 5-6 to chose from and I have to see which gets the lowest quote, this one I had to try 5-6 just to find one it would accept) Also you were 70% more expensive than my current insurer (Aviva) and I've not paid that level of insurance since my 3rd year of driving.
