Thankfully I've never squeaked in 13 months of ownership. Never pressure washed either come to that...

Only real drivers can handle without TRC
Captain Duff replied to chillismoke's topic in Non GT86/BRZ General Chat
I've always assumed these sort of street events are for immature 15 year-olds, or those with the brains of one, having thankfully never been to one. And judging by the footage I think I was right as regards both drivers and audience! -
The Primo actually looks as though it might be decent value to me given it doesn't appear to be anywhere near the same 'poverty' spec as the base model in Japan (or the Scion for that matter) - but I'm confused with the mention of hill start on the base model - is that now going to be standard through the range? Also, are the Sachs coilovers (assuming they are going to be used in the upgraded models) likely to be available as a separate stand-alone upgrade via the dealer network? They certainly look good on the German development car using stock wheels -

Looking forward to test driving one of these when they finally arrive, and the pricing sounds good, but I'm expecting that it will probably feel way too big and heavy after the great nimble lightness of the 86! http://www.whatcar.com/car-news/ford/mustang/2015-ford-mustang-review/1313913?utm_medium=EMAIL&utm_campaign=Enews%20Bulletins&utm_content=article1_readmore&utm_source=20140924

What Car 2015 Ford Mustang review
Captain Duff replied to Captain Duff's topic in Non GT86/BRZ General Chat
I agree it sounds wrong, but the figures do look very impressive (on paper at least): Power - 306 bhp Torque - 320lb ft 0-60mph - 5.4 sec (est) -
Looking for OEM Tail Lights
Captain Duff replied to Tony Torres's topic in For Sale GT86 / BRZ Parts
I smell another spammer myself... -
They remind me of the shiny black version of Team Dynamics Pro-Race 1.2's, although of course the 1.2's are more than half the price...

£967 for a set of 4 OEM rims fitted/balanced with Yokohama Winter drives last year from RRG Macclesfield courtesy of a deal Richard the service manager sorted out (he is Riceburner on here btw). Not sure he is doing similar this year but it is worth asking him - there always seem to be some spare OEM 17" rims floating around the dealer network as the TRD model with 18" wheels gets kitted out in the UK (they come with standard 17" rims off the boat). But failing that you regularly get OEM sets on ebay from owners who have moved over to after-market alloys, or of course you can look at the various places doing after-market alloy options and tyre packages as there are some good deals there too.

Hi Mike, and welcome. 1st September marks my first year of ownership and it's still as much fun as it was 12 months ago, it's a great car and used as my daily driver for both work and pleasure and it is remarkably practical for pottering around town, but obviously comes into its own on a nice empty A road My own mods have been quite limited given it is a great car out of the box, but I got a Cosworth drop-in panel filter (around £35), then went for a Milltek non-res 2nd cat delete and over pipe (mainly for sound - which is great - but it does free up a few HP I believe) which was supplied and fitted by RRG Macclesfield (who can also do lots of other goodies and without any warranty problems), and then a Cusco front strut brace with brake stopper (probably minimal effect but it looks good and was cheap enough). Obviously what you start to upgrade will depend very much on whether your priorities are cosmetic or performance. One thing I would recommend if this is going to be your only car, and particularly with you being t'up north, is a set of winter tyres (preferably on a 2nd set of rims if you have the storage space) as you probably won't want to be driving on any snow or ice in a RWD car without them. I've kept my OEM rims for both my summer tyres and got a cheap set of OEMs for my winter set as I like the looks and for OEM they are pretty good lightweight rims (and I don't go on the track myself), but wider/larger or lighter alloys seems to be a common upgrade for many - although if you are not increasing the engine power (turbo or supercharger add-ons) then this needs careful thought as lots of extra grip with no extra power could mean a sharp decrease in fun!

Macclesfield Mini Meet - Friday 12th September 2014
Captain Duff replied to Keethos's topic in Social Meets
That's a bugger, I'll be at RRG for my 1st years service on the 1st Sept - we'll have to try and coordinate better next year -
Well Adam, if you are a Blue then you'll potentially spot my red at the Deva on match days. If you're a Goat you can sod off of course

Would love to see what that 18 year olds next insurance quote is like!

I'd want that inspected on a ramp first just to make sure there was no damage to the sub frame given the push its had. Having said that I had worse damage in my old vRS repaired and re-sprayed in my local repair garage and when he'd finished after 3 days you would never have known there had ever been a scratch. It was my fault so I was paying cash rather than making a claim but it came in at around £300 (which included a courtesy car), so some of these places can work wonders and are cheaper than you think. If the price of a new bumper part is that cheap I'd go for that rather than attempt to try and glue and fiberglass it better (in my case above Skoda wanted £600 for a bumper, and that was without any paint!). Shame they don't do the flippin' mirror housings that cheap!

I think this explains why that will be the case sadly - http://www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/news/8495819/The-real-reason-why-bird-droppings-damage-your-car.html However, this explains how some diy machine polishing and reglaze treatment should be able to fix things without a trip to a bodyshop - http://guidetodetailing.com/damage-repair/how-to-repair-bird-poop-damage/

I was thinking today after hearing the sad news of the death of James Garner how much I loved the Rockford Files, but also how certain cars were key parts of shows like that. Where would Jim Rockford have been without his trusty custom bronze Pontiac Firebird? But than what would Starsky and Hutch have done without the Ford Torino, or the Dukes of Hazzard without the Dodge Charger? And while my own childhood has some great cars to go with such classic TV memories, what is there today to compare? What memories of cars will young kids today have in years to come, because I can't think of any myself? I know some of the young shavers have a thing for the Fast and Furious films, and while I've never seen any of them myself I don't even think that any particular car is a 'star' in any of them? Same for the Transporter ones (only watched half of the first one before I got bored, but can't recall the car used anyway). Is the golden age of a cool car model being integral to a show unlikely to ever happen again? Or indeed, does anyone under 40 have a clue what I'm on about

I'd like to be able to listen to 5live and 6music on the go, but not enough for that sort of price - but what I can't get my head around is why Toyota never fitted it as standard to begin with given how recently the car was launched and how long DAB has been around...

Yes Alec, cop shows do seem to attract these sorts of single car connections (or at least they used to). I guess in the UK we also had the iconic Mk IV Cortina (Sweeny); Mk II Jag (Morse, but also popular as a villain car in the Sweeny and countless other shows); Volvo P1800 (The Saint); Bodie and Doyle's performance Escorts and Capris and Cowley's Granada in the Professionals Then there was the cop show in reverse Minder where the Capri and Daimler Sovereign were both constant and absolutely perfect for Terry and Arthur. Perhaps as car ownership (fuelled by cheap credit) has grown massively since those times the iconography of certain car models and the aspiration to be able to own them has inversely declined?

Zele Style Carbon Fibre Rear Spoiler has landed
Captain Duff replied to Tarmac's topic in Tarmac Sportz
It's a bit like when Cara Delevingne sticks her tongue out in one of those ugly face poses she keeps doing. Yes, you can still see the stunning beauty hiding underneath, but you just ask yourself why...? -
What are you getting in their place Ian, just out of interest, and did the wider width to OEM when you got them improve handling in your opinion?

I Saw a GT-86 or BRZ Today........
Captain Duff replied to Test Drives Unlimited's topic in GT86/BRZ General Chat
I regularly see a black 12 plate GT parked in the Preston Mobility Centre car park in the centre of town (with a special permission card in the window), so I'm assuming it belongs to a staff member there rather than customer. Posted on the 'other place' ages ago but no response - just wondered if the owner lurks around here?! -
Valenti tail lights becoming popular???
Captain Duff replied to Subota Boy's topic in GT86/BRZ General Chat
Whenever I hear the word Maserati I always think of Terry Tibbs! Anyway, I've been off and on about getting a set of valenti's for ages, as they always look to my eyes to be the best after-market options in terms of effective/imaginative use of the housing shape without any leftover bits, and the price now is very good I think - but to those that have them I'm assuming they have been reliable, no error messages? -
Sounded great just before the emergency stop too - http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/video/2014/apr/01/lamborghini-aventador-worth-300000-crashes-london-street-video It's one of those videos that you get (like half of you've been framed) where you wonder why someone would have been filming just at the right moment, but it seems a genuine accident nevertheless. Now if you were the insurance assessor who would you hold to blame?!

Sorry this is late - 1 x Grey XXL please, how do I pay Rob?

Then get yourself down to Lidl sharpish, this decent looking model is only twenty quid! http://www.lidl.co.uk/cps/rde/SID-65CB1CDF-C7588ACA/www_lidl_uk/hs.xsl/our-offers-2491.htm?id=249 Torque wrench also available, but I'd pass on the wheel trims myself

Anyone need a 2 tonne trolley jack?
Captain Duff replied to Captain Duff's topic in Non GT86/BRZ General Chat
yeah, nearly all 2-tonners look like that, and in fact for our car you don't need anything bigger, and it is a very good price compared to the competition - http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/accessories-tyres/61394/trolley-jacks-tested
