I'd read somewhere they have changed the synchros and fourth gear as carbon one as that failed on some cars. Use the translate capability and try this link. I've now read 100s of articles so don't remember which one had it https://motor-fan.jp/mf/article/1636/ Sent from my SM-G781B using Tapatalk

Cobra have a ready made one. So ask him to get you a discount and be done with it, unless you want him to up the 200 cell to a 300 cell. Just make sure it mates to your Milltek but it should, i suppose. https://cobrasport.com/products/toyota-gt86-sports-de-cat-front-pipe-performance-exhaust?currency=GBP&variant=32119934419025&utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=google&utm_campaign=Google Shopping&gclid=CjwKCAjwjdOIBhA_EiwAHz8xmzm0TZrJEmOBoRjNH9TdP1ydZM0_szM4fntHru52eeRs1fz4OudwrBoCAHoQAvD_BwE This Toyota GT86 performance exhaust is made in 2.5"/63.5mm bore pipework and fits from the over pipe to the centre section. The sports cat exhaust option will still enable you to pass a UK MOT emissions test or police road side checks. The de-cat sports exhaust option is sold for motorsport and off road use only and will NOT be able to pass a UK MOT emissions test or police road side checks.

Yes it would. Higher CEL the better (200 minimum). A cheap try could be a good 30 min blast before MOT to get your cat glowing and then straight in for testing. Alternatively people find friendly naughty MOT testers to help. Sent from my SM-G781B using Tapatalk

Can you increase HP without increasing torque

With you getting the MPG you are getting NA, I cant see that happening [emoji12][emoji12] Get it done now you are so clear in your head and tell us how you get on with your MPG [emoji2] Sent from my SM-G781B using Tapatalk -

And listen to this Sent from my SM-G781B using Tapatalk -
It is definitely then the manifold cat has got weak. When cars are new , both cats are in optimal condition, when you take one of them off, for the initial few years , one cat can pass the MOT, when hot. As time goes the cat wears down and there needs to be a second cat to support it which there isn't. Sensor thing is highly unlikely. You could try replacing the 2 O2 sensors in the manifold but I don't think it will help. Sent from my SM-G781B using Tapatalk

Can you increase HP without increasing torque

Now that you have made your mind up and are in the emotional zone , it looks good, it sounds good, you should not delay further. Speak to TD, book an appointment, drop the cash, get it done! Sent from my SM-G781B using Tapatalk -
it could've been their test car and they might've done a lot of testing on it. Does the car have both cats on it? The Cats might have perished. The easiest way would be to look for a used OE manifold as many people change to aftermarket manifolds. Replace that and you should be good.

You are misquoting. [emoji12] He said he dislikes Turbo lag , which is the first thing that happens before the kick comes in. And these things divide opinion, such is their nature! PS, I thought after the poor manifold install experience of missing a nut and a bolt, TD was out of your consideration. Fensport do AVO turbo which is a much better OE like design, similar to what Subaru have in their WRX cars. Why not consider them, if you still insist on turbo and keeping the car above 3/ 3.5K RPM to keep the turbo spooling.. Sent from my SM-G781B using Tapatalk -

And as@spikyone said, it's probably better to buy a faster, more powerful car as there is always an element of risk with going with mods that take the factory numbers up substantially by 30 to 50% ( 260 to 300 bhp). You need to be ready to take the risk and agree that the overall life of the car / platform will be reduced as it adds an amount of stress on all components from transmission to clutch to Differential to everything in between . Its just luck for how long and whether that meets your personal driving style and needs and you take on the additional wear and tear. Sent from my SM-G781B using Tapatalk -

Since you are googling up, Google LSPI ( Low Speed Pre Ignition) and you will get why people say that. It comes back to peak cylinder pressures like the post from Mark yesterday. Low speed pre-ignition (LSPI) is a premature combustion event, occurring prior to spark ignition in turbocharged, downsized gasoline vehicles. As the name implies, it occurs when engines operate at low speeds and high loads. It can result in extremely high cylinder-pressures and can lead to heavy knock. At a minimum, LSPI can generate an audible knocking noise noticeable to the driver. Repeated exposure to these conditions can cause engine hardware failure, including broken spark plugs and cracked pistons Sent from my SM-G781B using Tapatalk -
Thanks Mark. So what do we consider as safe then [emoji848] Also I think the WRX FA20 engine is a 10.5:1 comp ratio and hence it can take more boost compared to our 12 5:1. Stock it makes 258 bhp out of memory but a lot more torque ( close to 400 NM). Sent from my SM-G781B using Tapatalk

The key question we are debating is , is 300 bhp safe and reliable power (ignoring dyno differences) or are we playing rod lottery or affecting long term reliability. And does the car need supporting mods at that power- fuel pump, injectors. What's your view Mark? Sent from my SM-G781B using Tapatalk

Yes, my apologies. I did not mean torque limits but heat limits and hence my mention of a transmission cooler.. Sent from my SM-G781B using Tapatalk

It has to be the smaller pulley, I reckon. The 300 mark is not crossed without smaller pulley unless the dyno you used, reads optimistic. Cosworth test car on standard pulley (with stock exhaust and with Cossie exhaust) , dyno attached. 265 with standard exhaust, 290 all in with Cosworth exhaust bits. Guidance must be changing over time as there are no known reported issues of engine damage with the Cosworth kit, so there is willingness to up the limits a bit. Look at the Video from 2:40 and see what Matt says in 2016. If you have time listen to the whole thing. The Fuel pump change is something he recommends in his installation guide. TD do it on their stage 2 turbo kit. It is easy to find out though if your fuel pump is at its limits by simply checking AFR's , if the Calculated AFR and Measured AFR are in the same ballpark range then its fine, if measured is going way above calculated... then the fuel pump isn't able to cope and you are running lean aka need a higher flow rate fuel pump.... Stock components could handle 300, its giving that headroom and not running things close to its limit, that's all. Official Dyno attached. Since yours is an Auto car i believe, the transmission is also at its limits and will benefit from fresh fluid and trans cooler too. Presumably, in your cooling upgrades, you got that done. Very interesting. Are you on the smaller pulley and 2.5 inch manifold back exhaust? Sent from my SM-G781B using Tapatalk

Thanks Martin. How did your plugs look at replacement? I got mine replaced last week at Bulldog and this is how they looked. All evenly carbonised and not too bad. Sent from my SM-G781B using Tapatalk

It is that simple, yes. If its badging, then Toyota want their stamp and have on some parts. Does not get it Toyota made.even the front and rear Toyota emblem have subaru stamped behind them. Take oil filter as an example listed on Toyota e bay store. Check the 3 pictures.. has subaru logo and Toyota logo. Spin it one way, you can get T , spin it the other way you get S. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-Toyota-GT86-Oil-Filter-04-12-Present-90915YZZS2-/221802540519?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0 Sent from my SM-G781B using Tapatalk

Does not work like that. Toyota buy their global need for screens and all other parts and spares from Subaru Japan directly. They then maintain the distribution and supply globally in Toyota dealerships and also the logic of how they distribute this stock. Subaru UK has no agreement to use Toyota UK spares and vice versa. So Subaru shortage in UK does not mean Toyota shortage in UK, nearly always Toyota has them in stock and I've experienced it for other parts (not windscreen). GT86 outsold BRZ by 10:1 approximately in the UK , so Toyota are bound to have more stock. The parts are exactly the same as is demonstrated by the SU product code on Toyota parts for GT86. Your call to wait or not, I just put an option out there in case you wanted quicker resolution with exactly same quality part Sent from my SM-G781B using Tapatalk

I quite liked the sound gen too. From the factory you get the audio experience that you need and deserve from a sports car while still being very environment friendly ( noise pollution [emoji3]) and why would you want to announce your presence to the world when you can go under the radar. Otherwise you need supporting mods like a loud exhaust to hear it and there are costs and consequences to that. Sent from my SM-G781B using Tapatalk

BRZ 6th year body service/underbody retreatment
BRZ-123 replied to Shad's topic in GT86/BRZ General Chat
Just saw your location as Newbury and advised Bulldog. I have been using them for years now and they are amazing. You know when you get all sorts of Impreza's and WRX's parked there for service, that you are in safe hands. They can deal with stock cars and modded cars with the same ease and enthusiasm and you get to see these Prodrives or Cosworths as you drop and pick your car. What's not to like? They also charge just 1 hr 15 mins labour to change spark plugs as they have the right tools to deal with boxer engines and do it day in day out. All in all, I highly recommend them! -
being on the forums for a long while , there is only 1 other one i know of, other than yours which was Rogue Motorsports car which was recently sold. Why don't you ask Litchfield directly for one? If they cant supply you one, then its just not worth it. Honestly speaking, it never sold so if SC is the way you want to go, try other brands.

BRZ 6th year body service/underbody retreatment
BRZ-123 replied to Shad's topic in GT86/BRZ General Chat
Get it done at Bulldog Twyford, the Subaru Dealers. It's cost me about £160 all in and got the stamp in the Body service of booklet. If its your 6th service( 60K miles) , you will also need the plugs changed. So budget for it too. -
How much metal on a magnetic sump plug is normal?
BRZ-123 replied to GravelRash's topic in Mechanical
Doesn't look anything serious. And you are right contaminated oil will not give the right result. For peace of mind if you wish , you could flush the current oil after using using Liqui Moly Engine Flush and put in fresh oil. It will remove any deposits. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B001CZSG94/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_RCW2APXVPY1NGWGMWQX5?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 For future I will suggest 6 mth oil changes /3 track day as you have a heavily modified car. Not worth leaving the oil for too long as its small cost to pay. Sent from my SM-G781B using Tapatalk
