Recall issued on cars to have valve springs replaced 2012-2013

...decide whether to send it in to them. As in, just leave the valve springs as they are and not have it done? Or did you mean take it elsehwere? -

I don’t think they’d like to do it, but they’d have to. If I didn’t have any modifications to the engine I would have the exact same approach as you Lauren. Take it to be done and that’s that. But it isn’t just a few bolts job done...they won’t remember what bolts and where, how things were mounted, what they do etc as they didn’t modify it nor do they deal with those parts, so they wouldn’t know. Imagine if they thought they had finished reinstalling the mods only to find a piece or pieces left over, they aren’t going to know what they are for, why would they. If I had a standard engine I wouldn’t be bothered, but I dont...hence why I’m a bit worried 😂 but as tommy said, pointless worrying yet until we hear from Toyota themselves -

That’s what I’m thinking. I don’t like anyone other than the likes of TD and Fensport touching my car. Whatever the Toyota dealership do, it won’t be right as they didn’t install it the modifications to start with. I’m being negative here but putting trust in Toyota over parts they don’t have true knowledge on is hard. I think I will just monitor other owners experience with this, see what the dealership says come December/January when we get the letter (so I’ve read somewhere). Maybe I’m being pedantic but who knows -

Eugh. I can see myself getting into a formal argument with Toyota if that’s the case, either that or just leaving the current valve springs in as I haven’t experienced any problems...yet. All depends on what Toyota tell me about the turbo. I think more research on the importance of valve springs is needed before I make a decision etc. We will see. Headache *thumbs down* Thanks knightryder -

This worries me. What difference will being turbo’d with supporting mods make? Going to be really pee’d if they f anything up -
Thanks!

Hi guys, I’m trying to wire a few things into my car and need an ignition cable to wire into. I’m going to use the easiest which is the cigarette lighter but dont know if it’s a live feed direct from battery or ignition feed that only gets power once the accessories are on/car started. Please could somebody test the the cigarette lighter (specifically the one in the glovebox) to see if it’s a live or ignition? Just plug your phone in to see if it charges without turning anything on, then turn accessories on and see if it starts charging then. I’d do it myself but my battery is flat and every time I charge it up the accessories come on automatically *groan* so I can’t try it without accessories on. Don’t fancy wiring everything up to find out it’s direct and not ignition. Appreciate the help!

Just in case it helps anyone, 18” 9.75J ET+20 with 30mm spacers on 225/40 just about fits (not road tested). Not close to the inner (suspension), but close to the front and back of the wheel arch...very close but I’m confident it’ll be fine.
-
Hi Guys, Having a bit of trouble with the wheels I want up front. They are 18” 9.75J ET+20 My car is wide bodied so I need them to fill the arches. I’ve tried 30mm spacers and they make the wheels flush so I am happy with that however, I want to be sure they won’t rub on the suspension before I get tires fitted. The previous wheels were 18” 9.5J ET-34 with 225/40/18 on...new tires for new wheels will be the same. I’ve attached a pic of the distance between suspension and wheel...I did measure it and I think it was about 2 or 3cm I can’t be sure. Would any of you guys know if they will rub? Thanks in advance

Yea I have the blue tips too...changed my mind so I’m looking for the silver thanks anyway
-
Anyone got one? After the one with silver tips rather than the burnt blue tips. Would prefer the full exhaust but if you have certain sections let me know Thanks
-
Hmm, I imagine it being tight. According to that calculator, my new wheels compared to stock (215/45 17” 7J ET+48?) will be 20mm away from the suspension which gives me confidence. Might just have to try it and see what happens!

Totally understand, kind of only want it for the sake of it...if you do ever want to get rid for £30 let me know. Cheers
-
Ok, would you take £30?
