Hi all, I was fiddling around with my maps the other day on the commute home, playing with the features as generally I stick on Map 1 - performance only. The only map I'd never tried before was Map 4 for any olde fuel so decided to give it a bash and see how different the performance felt. I was actually pleasantly surprised, the car didn't seem to have that feeling of urgency like it normally does, guessing maybe throttle response is lower, however it was still very smooth and pulled well but the biggest plus was it was generally alot quiter and i'd say more "social" for nipping about town or pulling into the neighbourhood etc (cobra uel and resonated exhaust fitted). Just wondered if anyone had found the same?

Hi George, I'm offshore till mid December but I'm lowestoft if still needed then and happy to meet π
-
Interesting, all my works been performed at fensport, and as you'd expect no issues or anything like that. Again was just the curiosity, she has a really deep bellow as you can imagine with a cobra set-up so was easy to notice the slight change in volume when trying the lower RON map π. Thanks for the reply.
-
Yeah true scbrz, My set-up is maps 1-3 for V-power with different toys on each map and map 4 is pretty much for any old fuel if vpower isn't available etc, was just curious really if anyone had noticed characteristics similar to what I mentioned when trying their map for any fuel 95 etc, map 1 in your case, the reduction in noise on mine is what got me curious.

Yes bud, need to give that cable a feed. I just connected mine to the AMP wire that comes out of the of the head unit as it's unused, but cutting into any live from the headunit will do the trick. The voltage on the AMP wire is slightly higher than required if I remember right but perfectly safe.

Hi Graham, have you given the FM Aerial a supply? My reception was pretty non existent until I did this.

Hi all, I'm after more power from my GT86. I'd really really love to go down the supercharger route, but looking around at fensport and online I'm looking around 5K for a HKS supercharger and fitting, it's abit out of my budget and really not sure I can justify it. Does anyone have any tips on slightly cheaper options? Currently I have drop in air filter (Blitz), cobra catback exhaust and the ECUTEK remap, all work to date performed by fensport. Any advice at all? or do I need to start saving and trying to justify it to myself? Many thanks Gary

No worries, with it being one of the less common choices hopefully it saves someone the same hassle if they pick the cobra. Yes bud, mean the engine undertray.
-
Yeah, I'm just glad it's sorted, it was quite a severe rubbing in honesty, I had fears it was something worse as majority of the time it was hard to pinpoint the exact resonance but she seems good as gold now π. Are you lowestoft / Suffolk way? Could meet so you can have a listen. Im happy with loudness and tone of mine, just has manifold and catback, have left the stock midpipe and cat in place.

Just a heads up to anyone else considering the cobra. It badly rubs on the shield in quite a large spot. Now at Toyota having brought it in due to the rattles that started to appear a couple days ago, tech just took me through and showed me. They're now attempting to mod the shield as well as my bank balance. Make sure if you get this fitted you or the garage mod the shield. πͺ

I had mine done at fensport. They have a workshop there so got them to do the fitting as well as remap. Even if getting the parts yourself you could still pay for workshop time if you didnt fancy doing the fitting.

Thanks all, and thanks church for the brill detail. It will be coming out after reading these. End cap ordered. I'm pretty confident removal can only be a positive to me now due to the other work done.

I will do when I get in on a dyno. It was all done at fensport on the open road so wasn't put on a dyno unfortunately. I have a cobra resonated exhaust so made sense for me to go for the cobra UEL.
-
Got the cobra UEL fitted Thursday, thanks for all the advice it really does transform the car like you all said. Now Drives how it should have always have.
-
The whippet is booked in a week on Thursday for a UEL manifold and Remap. Fingers crossed that satisfies my hunger for a while I continue to have the argument with myself over a SC. π

Thanks for the advice, much appreciated. I love the car it's so much fun and my pride and joy, it's just I wish it had abit more grunt for everyday use to match it's looks and lose that torque dip abit. On the right roads it's an epic car and i grin from ear to ear but I had a golf GTI unnnessarily try to do me off the lights the other day where 2 lanes merge into 1, although I beat it I just wished it had a bit more initial to keep fairly "standard" road cars at bay. I'll look into a upgraded manifold as you both has mentioned. Many thanks. I kinda guessed the costs would continue to build with F/I, I really just can't justify it unfortunately.

Hi All, recently just joined and have had my GT86 about 8 months now, love the car. I have a query hopefully some of you maybe able to help with or to just tell me its me Lol. I have the ECUTEK remap, on a couple of occasions when giving it some welly in 2nd and I change to 3rd when I lift the clutch and the car engages 3rd it cuts out briefly for a second or 2 like I have hit the rev limiter. I'm due to have some more work done on the car and another remap so will ask the guys when there. Just wondering if maybe 2nd has a higher rev limit than 3rd or something like that and this causes it? Not had it happen in any other gear, and I don't actually hit the limiter in 2nd the car only cuts out after the gear change and it registers 3rd. Anyone else had this or is it something I'm doing inadvertently? Many thanks.

Hi All, I fancy this and doing the install myself, think I have found all the parts mentioned in the posts just with the exception to the GPS lead. Has anyone got any advice on where I can find this? Many Thanks, I'm a bit of a newbie and struggling to locate this lead.
-
Haha my bad. Thanks for the link.

Hi All, Just after a bit of basic advice / info on a headunit. I currently have the stock NAVI headunit fitted, and I want to swap it out, I feel with how basic it is and the look of it brings the interior down a bit. Does anyone have any advice for a reasonable aftermarket headunit for the GT86 that has NAVI, BLUETOOTH and DAB and reasonably simple to have replaced. I want all these functions and something that just looks a bit smarter. Not looking to spend anything ridiculous, just a couple hundred. Many thanks and apologies if I've missed a Discussion covering exactly this.
-
Hi Matt, think I might go for this. I'm really struggling to find that lead you have linked to that is required for the GPS. Is there a specific name I should be searching on amazon? Many thanks.

Hi all, I've had no issues on Map 1 whatsoever. I was down at tuners yesterday getting a small bit of work done and brought it up during remap. He pretty much described it the same as Paul above. Basically flat foot shifting is throwing a wobbly with my clutch control and me not flat foot shifting when its expecting me to. I'm just glad its nothing wrong with the car I will keep it map 1 from now on until I fancy a play Thanks again for all the comments, hopefully this will help someone else if they encounter it. Cheers, Gary.

Hi all. A collegue of mine runs Gametime 350. Planned meets and routes from city to city or country to country. Just wondered if many would be interested if I hit him up to Maybe do one for us lot? Can find it on Google or Facebook. It's not an advertisement I'll genuinely only ask if there's more interest than just me πand what sort of thing people would want. E.g. UK only etc Gary
-
Cool. I'll keep you both posted on upcoming runs that could be good fun for us to attend with prices etc. Doesn't seem to much interest at minute for me to see about one specifically for us GT86ers.

Thanks Varelco I will have a look tonight and see which one I have fitted. It's not too bad at the moment but I know eventually its going to break me.
