Recall Notice: Power Steering Defect
Kodename47 replied to Kodename47's topic in GT86/BRZ General Chat
I have read one report of a guy in Australia that has an issue and nearly crashed as a result. This was 1+ years ago and reported on FT86club. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=82667 However it is being reported that this is a voluntary recall, so not deemed critical. There are a large number of ECUs in this car, it's the PS ECU. -
It was all to do with the deal between Toyota and FHI. Toyota pretty much funded the venture so they got the majority of the production line. The ratio worldwide was set, how that breaks down into individual markets I'd imagine will come down to expected sales.
-
Keep hoping..... southern circuits are too expensive apparently. The closest we'll get is Snett or Woodbridge

eBay then You could try something like this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/7-5-Feet-Front-Bumper-Spoiler-Chin-Lip-Splitter-Valence-Trim-Body-Kit-for-TOYOTA-/272051162413?fits=Model%3AGT+86&hash=item3f57834d2d:g:xZsAAOSw6dNWS95f and this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-5M-Carbon-Fiber-Car-Front-Bumper-Spoiler-Lip-Splitter-Valance-Chin-Protector-1-/162167868962?fits=Model%3AGT+86&hash=item25c1f54e22:g:w9AAAOSwubRXNFW0 Loads of that about. Or a cheap-ish but probably fine: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FRONT-SPLITTER-GLOSS-BLACK-TOYOTA-GT86-2012-up-/231800933943?hash=item35f8698e37:g:HpsAAOSwX~dWh6em You can buy the whole front/side/rear packages: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Toyota-GT86-Scion-FRS-BottomLine-Body-Kit-rear-lips-splitter-side-skirts-/310688392530?hash=item485678a552:g:vUQAAOxyLchRx2AP Tarmac used to do a deal on the whole lip kit too.

Any preference? TarmacSportz or even eBay are your best bets.

The BRZ M150 seems the obvious choice for ease of use and designed connectivity with all the GT86 canbus systems. What are you guys trying to use? I based this off of Andre's HP Academy videos of Manji's swap.

@rob275 is prob the one to answer that, similar smaller pulley but OEM manifold IIRC. 230-240 would probably be about right.

Dongle is not car specific, it's just the license for the laptop software.

If new, it will be the new model as they should start delivery of the new one from the end of the year. I wouldn't be surprised if they have nearly stopped making the current MY as orders start in September for the new one IIRC.

Recall Notice: Power Steering Defect
Kodename47 replied to Kodename47's topic in GT86/BRZ General Chat
Toyota has announced a safety recall for certain GT86 models in the UK to correct a potential issue affecting the wiring harness and the electronic control unit in the electric power steering system. This action is part of a global recall that covers right-hand drive GT86 models manufactured between April 2012 and March 2015. The number of UK-registered vehicles affected is 4,556. They are among a total of about 4,600 in Europe and 23,400 worldwide. There are no reports of any accidents, injuries or fatalities linked to this issue. The issue The vehicles involved in the recall are fitted with an electric power steering system. Under certain conditions, the electric terminal of the wire harness connected to the steering system’s electronic control unit may slide (against non-conductive debris), due to vibration that occurs when driving, rubbing against the connector’s layer of tin-plating layer. This can result in debris, which may, over time, accumulate and become oxidised. Due to an improper harness layout on right-hand drive models equipped with a driver’s knee airbag, the harness may interfere with the airbag’s lower panel cover. The driver’s knee may occasionally press against the airbag’s lower cover when getting into or out of the vehicle, causing the cover to press against the steering system’s wire harness. This contact may result in the connector terminal sliding onto the oxidised debris accumulated on electrical insulator, resulting in electrical contact failure. The steering system ECU will then illuminate the EPS warning light and the steering assistance will be disabled. The recall Registered vehicle keepers will be contacted by Toyota within the coming weeks by post or telephone and asked to make an appointment to bring their car to their nearest Toyota centre, in accordance with the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) code of practice. For all vehicles involved in the recall, the electric power steering ECU and wire harness will be replaced. The work should take about one hour to complete. If owners require additional information they can contact their local Toyota Centre or the recall helpline on 0800 1388744." -
You'd need to replace a number of individual LEDs.
-
Yeah. Only the US Red versions have red indicators. The clear US and all JDM ones have amber IIRC
-
These are the US red Toms, they have red indicators. It's an MOT fail.
-
To put the OEM lights back on. You can't repin the Toms so you have to do it on the car side of the connector.

Get a decent wrap. A proper change of colour respray is going to be a couple of grand, once you consider all the door/boot shuts and engine bay etc. If a wrap is done properly it should look like a decent paint job and cost a fraction of the cost, protects the paint underneath and probably benefit you come resale time as you can offer it in the standard or custom colour.

Abbey Motorsport Cobra larger capacity HFC
Kodename47 replied to Mark@Abbey M/S's topic in Abbey Motorsports
1) This was the only cat in the system 2) Ade has asked if an extra silencer can be fitted as an option 3) Fitting this should give you a similar power gain as a straight through pipe. Fitting this on itself is a simple change to do. 4) It seems that the generic consensus on this is ~300whp (similar figures on the hub dyno would be applicable ). If you're not going to a smaller pulley on the SC the you should be fine no matter what exhaust setup you go for. It's actually torque that are the killer for the rods, rather than peak power. So you could work that out accordingly.- 65 replies

I tried to go to the closing night of Turnmills having been once before...... the queue was almost down to the tube station! I play pretty much anything good, I started on UKG and DnB and play that plus anything on the electro to techno scale. None of this EDM style rubbish though, I like my bass.

I haven't played out in a while but slowly trying to give myself more time to try and do so again....
