TBH it looks like a stock white 86, nothing defining. I only noticed that it looks like the exhaust routing is different so it may have an aftermarket exhaust. Even the only pic from the front has a cone blocking the plate so even that doesn't help. As they aren't my pics I don't feel like I should put them up.

More than likely the specific kits use lines and fittings that are of tested lengths for a specific location. The generic kits will mean more work for the buyer, but if you're happy to do that then obviously that's the way to go.

Photobucket may be your friend, it seems to re-size for forums and has the direct links. For reference for any pics to appear you can use:(img)Image url address.jpg(/img) But change the brackets to square brackets >> [] That way you can link direct from any website, dropbox, photobucket etc. -
Apparently the A406 near Finchley, looks like the A406 is the London North Circular route.

There is a G meter, its not just steering angle that impacts the TCS, although they are both inputs into the system. I was told by the CAT instructor, Colin, that it is placed as close to the centre axis as possible, my guess is under the centre console somewhere. Don't just junk the ABS as it also controls the EBD. Ask Adrian as I'm sure he tried just removing the fuse and it had adverse effects. Yes, with it all off you can drift. Apparently it will restore if it senses a wheel off the ground as a last effort if it thinks you're airborne. If that's too intrusive then Google the "pedal dance" which disables everything completely, except ABS, until the cat is restarted. It's meant as a technician diagnostic tool and isn't meant for public use. It's quite well known these days.

It's that fine balance of charge cooling vs ignition timing, I've got a spreadsheet made up to calculate the time/degrees gap between EOI for the DI and ignition timing spark event. You need to know the SOI for the DI injectors and the fueling requirements for the setup though. As advance decreases as boost increases then more DI can be run to help the charge temps (IMO).

Jay, the issue is that the Police don't often know. While I was looking into getting mine done I read some interesting stories. One guy had a legal size smaller plate and a police officer took him to court for an illegal plate based on the fact he "knew" it was too small. He couldn't contest it however as it didn't have the other legal markings and the prosecution was for an illegal plate. I see illegally spaced plates all the time, I can't understand when police see plates becoming an issue. The law states that these should be prosecuted but no one does, I wasn't going to risk spacing mine wrong though. Just make sure you have the manufacturer and BS logo and you can then defend your plate no matter what. I think the DVLA regs are a little vague for a reason. So long as you prove you have adhered to them then you shouldn't have an issue. Worst case is keep INF104 in your glovebox.

The intake AVCS is pretty much always active, the exhaust cam becomes active once the oil hits 30C however you also need to be stationary and at idle. Obviously oil temp/pressure will have an impact on the AVCS OCV operation but I've not noticed a massive change. That said I don't tend to monitor the cams in normal operation. That said, the OEM map doesn't have this issue (that I'm aware of) and when you're in the warm up stage then I don't see why this should be an issue. FWIW all SC logs I've seen will have the intake cam start to retard at higher RPM, that's both on PD and centrifugal. On the logs Intake values are cam advance, exhaust is cam retard.

GT86Jay's HKS Version 2 Supercharger Install / Mod Thread

At light throttle and low RPM the engine in closed loop operation where it will target 14.7:1 AFR and will use fuel trims to correct if it's not hitting that. So long as you don't go high load open loop then there won't be an issue, so you could even drive on the stock map without doing any damage so long as you stay within those parameters.- 88 replies

It's the best way, mines even still on stock wheels and has a relatively quiet exhaust.
-
I've still not even used that feature on mine, TBH my P3 is rarely even plugged in. Decent time though.

All the info is on the DVLA website. Just get the spacing correct and you're golden. You need a minimum of 338mm width IIRC if you don't have a GB plate. Nigel, a large exhaust isn't as crutial on a SC car as a turbo one.- 88 replies

You need a shorter number plates Jay, I've recently fitted shorter front and rear plates designed for 5 characters and it looks much better- 88 replies

Z rated would be good for a road car. IMO the 08 are overkill, seems you agree. For the price I think the Z's are a steal. I would say that stook rears would work but something like Hawk/Stoptech rears would be a good match I'd imagine.
-
Based on the US Price list, the fronts should be about $70. So I reckon about £70-80 a pair once in the UK for the Z Rated ones. Z Rated are front only and are the upgrade pads, 08 Compound are available in both F&R and are pretty much Motorsport pads. Part numbers: 0929 - Fronts (http://www.pfc.parts/product/0929/) 1124 - Rears (http://www.pfc.parts/product/1124/) I know GB Enterprises do Z rated for £72, not on their website though.

Odd, they are quite well known in Porsche circles, if that's anything to go by. Only hear good things about them, will be my #1 choice to replace the OEM and the basic set seem aimed at the fast street/trackday application. Very well priced too.

Depends on the knock limitations of the engine and the low down torque delivery. It would certainly be possible to do the full 350+ on a stock engine if tuned well, but lowering the compression will give you more knock headroom.- 88 replies

I suggested to someone to set the RPM hysteresis so that it will drop the RPM to 5k rather than just bounce at whatever RPM you dip the clutch. No where near as harsh and more like normal shifting whilst still keeping the revs up. Apparently works much better than the base ECUtek setting. I haven't tried it as I'm not a fan either but may give my idea a go too.
-
It's not an ECUtek thing, it happens on any ECU reset/flash. The ECU has to learn the limits of the sensors, like the pedal and throttle plate. Unless you're driving away immediately after a reset/flash then I doubt you'd notice.

Direct Injector Concern - Preparing for Forced Induction
Kodename47 replied to iddrew's topic in Mechanical
I believe the P3 does the throttle plate angle, may be throttle percentage though. As Jay says there's different parameters for accelerator and throttle. There's even multiple throttle parameters if you really want to get into it.- 15 replies

Direct Injector Concern - Preparing for Forced Induction
Kodename47 replied to iddrew's topic in Mechanical
Jay you're on about the ECUtek accelerator pedal maps and not the actual throttle maps which are quite complex. However you are correct that most of the time 100% accelerator is 100% throttle, it's only down at low RPM that this may not be the case. I can't check without it open. Subaru DBW logic is a PITA, at least 4 tables are in use to calculate pedal % to throttle plate angle.- 15 replies
