    Cross Forum Crap

Just FYI - it seems that Dan has signed a NDA so can't mention anything until the agreement is complete. That was exactly what was going to happen until you outed him..... I'm not sure exactly what hidden dagger tricks you think are being played, it's just a website that people use to talk about cars. Also FYI, neither I, nor Dan or Stu hid your post.... I was quite happy to see how many people were really bothered. It seems like you lot worry about it more than the people who actually use it. I'm not sure why you couldn't have had a giggle at our expense without feeling the need to come and post about it.... was Facebook not enough? It was clearly a case of "getting one over".... games that I assumed were finished.

    First oil change

Why not a Toyota/Subaru filter? Not bothered with warranty? If so, I'd get a genuine filter on there, they're not expensive.

    Coolant

They all are now pretty much, but what's the engine life on it? They usually say. I wouldn't keep it in there for longer than spec'd though as the coolant will slowly start to react with the block. It's not a big issue, it just means doing a coolant flush in 5 years and not 10.

    Coolant

Don't mix the coolant! Even though I suspect that Toyota Pink SLL is almost identical to Subaru's Blue SLL (which Toyota now carry due to the GT86) I still wouldn't mix it as the colour won't help any for diagnostics. Whatever you do, make sure you put the proper SLL in though, as not doing so will reduce the change periods. They suggest to stick to the minimum change period of whatever is used. The OEM stuff is 10 years/100k I believe. If you mix that with normal coolant, half it. Most normal "Long Life" coolant only has a engine life of 5 years/50k.

    Toyota FT-1 aka New Supra

It is a big gap, but being that F1 uses hybrid technology, the next gen of supwercars all do as well so I'd assume that Toyota will. The instant torque is near impossible to match bar big capacity engines, which adds too much weight. The FT-1 will undoubtedly come as a hybrid in some form. If you want my honest answer, I'd rather an old NSX-R over an R8 any day. Much more driver focused.... Senna helped set up the chassis after all. As for the new one, if done right it will be pushing above it's weight. I am Honda at heart but that's because they have always done something better than the others, create a car for pure driving fun and the cars feel right.

    Toyota FT-1 aka New Supra

The new NSX is a hybrid of the same kind as the McLaren P1 and Porka 918. This would have to be of similar ilk to get the performance. As the last NSX was one of the best ever track focused road cars (IMO), the next one should be better than most of it's competitors. Honda have always known the recipe to make a great fast and fun car. http://www.evo.co.uk/news/evonews/289516/honda_nsx_2015_specs_prices_video_and_uk_launch_date.html

    Toyota FT-1 aka New Supra

I'd assume a V6 hybrid. Seems the was the JDM cars are going. Think I'd still rather the new NSX.

    which supercharger?

Thing is, I organised a group buy for tunes from them back in January last year and their contact then was good. I never had much problems with Iain but I knew they were always rammed. That's why eventually I jumped ship.

    12v socket

    It's in the book

    which supercharger?

Yeah, their kit did look great. But IMO they fobbed off too many people. I must have been one of the lucky ones, although never got a spin in their car. I guess they picked up the BRZ just before everything picked up. Their GTR parts development is crazy.

    which supercharger?

I feel their car has just become a demo of what they can do, their real money and products stand in their GTR and BMW products. They now have their own M3, 335i and 235i which are obviously going to be a bigger market with more £££. Let alone the work they do on supercars etc. I think the BRZ/GT86 is not going to be of much financial benefit to them.

    which supercharger?

Strange.... last I heard they were going to be building the engine out of theirs and it was being stripped down to inspect.
  13. Big breaker bar and with the car in gear should work. If you're turning the engine, that means you're moving the car.... well that can't happen if the brakes are on.

    which supercharger?

The thing is there are really only turbo and Sprintex S/Cs about. Mas' HKS car is the only centrifugal S/C car, unless you can get Chris' (TarmacSportz) Vortech car to it as well. I really need to drive your car Ian for comparison. I've only driven Dave's bonkers version. It does come down to what you prefer, I love the power delivery of the Sprintex. It's just instant power.
  15. Kodename47

    which supercharger?

Personal preference I guess. Teething problems aside, as they are newer, I think the kits seem to work better. I think the actual compressor is more efficient than the Vortech unit. The Litchfield looks like it's the most complete Rotrex kit, it's also the most expensive IIRC and no-one except them have got one on a car as far as I know as they aren't the easiest to get hold of.

    Decal Opinions

I voted for everything Honestly though, I always think less is more. My Abbey sticker takes up a small spot on the bottom of the rear window, it still shows your support. Rear quarter, front and rear windscreens give you plenty of space. Keep body panels for decorative decals, rather than shopping lists. As for the Autobot, that's just not for me. It just looks like extra clutter.

    which supercharger?

Most of the S/C kits have an I/C. In fact the only one that doesn't is the base Sprintex, which I wouldn't bother with. The PD blower creates enough charge temps that I'd want something to be compensating for it. I can see 50-60C intake temps on a few WOT pulls, that will slowly increase over time. And that's why the PD loses out at the top end. The updated unit (210+) is the same size but improved internals.... more efficient. So I can run a larger pulley for the same boost and less IAT, or run the same size pulley with similar IATs and more boost. Maybe LFA's going for the 335 blower, the big boy? That would destroy the stock engine, way too much boost at low RPM.
  18. You need a big old breaker bar
  19. Kodename47

    which supercharger?

If I were to go for a centrifugal, I'd go for a Rotrex based system. Litchfield, Jackson Racing or Kraftwerks are all Rotrex based systems. If you want a PD blower that gives you similar top end but is better in the mid range then Sprintex will have a new bit of kit out soon. Stg.1 AVO will be very similar in power and performance to the Sprintex kit. Choose the right bolt ons (exhaust/pulley/uprated blower) with a S/C and you can add power quite easily, it's just not as easy as bolting on a better turbo.

    Helmet Pimping!

Isn't the double D ring all part of the Snell standards? Thanks for the replies, it's what I wanted to hear.

    Helmet Pimping!

Rob, what's your thoughts on the Hedtec? Been thinking of one myself. What's it like for fitment and comfort? I'm guessing you're of similar head size to myself so which size did you go for?

    VVTi fault

The VVT system is oil flow/control related. The HPFP, while driven by the cams, is separate from the AVCS mechanism.

    Changing discs and pads

Just in case it's useful, here's my hosted copy of the workshop manual. Full official method of pad, disc and caliper replacement and checks. https://www.dropbox.com/s/yx0baxvljdl1f1u/2012-GT86BRZ%20service-shop-manual.pdf
  24. Nilfisk all use metal pumps as far as I'm aware. This is similar to the one I have, good bit of kit!
  25. I'm pretty much in agreement, I just dislike the amount of chrome - it's especially obvious on a dark car like mine. That's why I'm toying with the idea of Modelista style covers. http://thumbs3.ebaystatic.com/d/l225/m/mlphu27Snqwt0FbU4HCoJlg.jpg
