Intec Japan Tail Lights Conversion Kit GROUP BUY @ 86WORX
Kodename47 replied to 86WORX's topic in 86WORX
TBH I couldn't disagree more, but these are way too "Ferrari" for me in general. After my comment on Ian's Toms though it does appear that I have a very different taste to most people. I'm just getting old.... -
Intec Japan Tail Lights Conversion Kit GROUP BUY @ 86WORX

Here's an American customer with them fitted onto a car other than black or white: -
I didn't see the last graph. Most people seem to miss the point that the intercooler is more for consistency than to raise figures. The Americans latched onto the fact it doesn't make much more power, but the non-IC will lose power due to the inevitable build up of heat. To me, that makes it worth the extra cash. Fitting costs are also irrelevant for me, I enjoy doing that myself. The other kits have more involved installs with the exception to the Phantom ESC. You're right things are definitely cheaper from the states, but with the S/C kits I'd definitely want some UK support. The Rotrex kits are still having teething issues just like Vortech and Sprintex did. I guess that's not so important with turbo parts as they can be replaced as individual components. It all comes down to what suits you best, if I had gone turbo then I'd have done it custom like you. I love the torque curve the Sprintex gives and with the improved rotors the top end should be in direct comparison to the centrifugal kits.

I kinda see what you mean, the clear lense looks a bit odd: (Shamelessly stolen) Although for me the red and Orange clash a little.
-
Hmmm.... not sure of the red housings on Ginger. IMO the clear lense with black housing may work better.
-
Cheers. I'm weighing up my options: - CF light covers - Toms - These, which make the Toms seem cheap: - These: http://youtu.be/ugPEKzEUFgw

Just for you Lauren: Where did you get the Toms? Are you planning on disconnecting the wing side repeaters? I take it they are just mirror covers?
-
There's always one that brings a turbo into a supercharger discussion....
-
It means that different superchargers perform differently. There's still a lot of variables in that link. The Rotrex based kits, which Litchfield's is BTW, will produce more at the top end. That Innovate plot is also a non-intercooled version. Tegiwa do the Kraftwerks kit in the UK, you would then need to find a tuner.
-
They don't need changing, although a track session might put them on their last legs. You could abuse them and then change them, you'll get more from your new pads then.
-
Not quite true, the KW kit is rumoured to have a whine due to the toothed belt. Its not a true mechanical whine though
-
Its fun.... The upgraded blower should help this push decent top end figures too.

Innovate Supercharger - How cheap is this?
Kodename47 replied to Pitman's topic in GT86/BRZ General Chat
CARB is the Californian Emissions regulations. The tune and the kit has to be certified and is the only legal way to modify in California. Due to this, a lot of the companies supply a CARB tune but it's generic and you can't adjust it to stay CARB legal. This specific tune isn't particularly good from the reviews I've read either, they can't push much with the non-IC kit due to the heat from the kit at high RPM. As for fitting, dead simple. The IC adds some time but it's not a complicated install. -

It's not budget savvy to add the IC after and AFAIK the official line from Sprintex is that Innovate shouldn't be exporting their kits. Abbey has the deal to be their sole distributor here. Besides, their CARB tune is pretty crap from what I've heard, you also wouldn't get much, if any, support from Innovate over this. Their reputation sucks. Also this appears to be a direct US$ to £ conversion so makes me wonder if this is even a kit that's here and could be subject to import costs, even though they quote UK stock. -
Depends on how far you've driven and how hard. If it's not been driven hard, you can get under there straight away. It'll take you time getting everything set up anyway, tools, jack up, wheels etc by the time that's doneyou're good to go. I usually just have a cuppa before starting.... If you've driven it hard enough you can feel heat coming through the wheels, leave it a while.

Have you got a cable Rab? There's part of the software that can be used to pull the error codes in case it happens again. So does this mean a new AVCS system on one/both heads?
-
Did you pull codes off with your ECUtek cable? I'd have taken a screenshot.

Fensport GT86 Open Day - 15th March 2014

Looks a good meet. Rob, your charger coolant needs a top up -
What are your thoughts on the PF stuff Steve? I was/am looking at those when the OEMs die.
-
EBC was a brave shout, very mixed reviews. I'm really surprised that no-one is tempted by the Performance Friction pads as IMO look the best value for what you get. IIRC TarmacSportz are the cheapest StopTech distributers in the UK
-
The Tom's are probably the most OEM looking of all the aftermarket lights, I just think they look way too Audi. Might be worth checking reports on ft86club, some people are claiming gaps left between the bodywork after fitting although it's likely to be installation error.
-
I assume the JDM wiring is the same, it seems that the USA ones are different though. Which ones you going for? Part of me would suggest finding a UK supplier, what happens if there's a warranty failure? I don't trust aftermarket LED lights enough yet to risk buying from Japan.

Guy in the other 86 popped up on the owners club asking about the white car Jay pointed him in your direction. Glad you had a good day mate. I miss being out on track.... Thinking oil cooler is needed before I get too serious, especially if the blower's getting upgraded. -
There's an exhaust cover available in the states. If you're ok with tuning, ECUtek allows you to self tune now. I'm certainly happy to help out with that.

HKS super hybrid air filter - new in SHINY box :-)

Yeah, ideally need a MAF sensor re-scale. Easily done by yourself on ECUtek, just need a license 1st and borrow a cable.
