Spotted - White 86 - BBC South Today (Winchester?)
Shippers replied to cts's topic in GT86/BRZ General Chat
Looks very similar to the one I saw going round Winchester with a fairly loud exhaust even at low revs. If your the owner let us know what exhaust that was 👍 -
Hi Richy Got any pics of them? What was it you didn't like? Ride too harsh? Thanks
-
Keep the updates coming Sam 👍. Great looking build and helping to keep me going when I start to go mad at work with all that's going on.

Hi, I've used Mike Stokes Motoring for a Corrado G60 and Supercharged Range Rover. Good bunch of guys and it sorted both those cars. For my 86 I took it to Abbey, well worth the trip as they have some pretty fancy alignment gear plus specialise in GT86's. Hope that helps.

That's great to hear you are enjoying it. Thanks for the update. I'm so tempted to go for it in the future now I've got used to my car with the TD NA kit on.
-
@CharlieBatchelor95 how is life with the TD turbo kit fitted? Have you had a chance to really test it out?

Test drove GT86 - not inspired, what have I missed?

Hi, just a different view from my experience and doing a similar work journey to you for the past 2 years. I stopped driving the 86 and used my BMW m sport auto estate. So much more relaxed on the motorway and more comfortable to jump out of at the end of the commute. Then saved the 86 for weekend fun. Best of both, apart from running costs of 2 cars I guess. So, perhaps one more all round car would suit you? Golf GTi? Docile on motorway but still a bit if fun. Or plenty of other similar options, especially if you didn't fall in love with the 86. Just thought I would offer a slightly different view 😁 -
Nice features to add. The buttons will look cool too 😁👍

Bet you cant wait to pick it up. Enjoy but take it easy in these icy conditions on the first drive back!! 😁

How odd. Mine has has marks either side where the bonnet struts (aftermarket) are. It's like they have caused the paint to crack a bit. Anyone else had issues with the paint on the bonnet?
-
Yep, definitely a weak point. That said, my replacement battery from toyota (higher 65a version) has just survived 4 weeks with the car not being driven. Left the alarm activated and last weekend it started up fine. No way would that have happened on the original battery.

Potential Pick Up Tomorrow - Question
Shippers replied to Dennis Wilson's topic in GT86/BRZ General Chat
Hi Dennis, in my experience the alarm went off because the sensor under the bonnet wasnt positioned correctly, it's quite flimsy and easy to bend (and to bend back). The alarm doesn't activate if locking the car by the emergency key. But the biggest issue is making sure you have a decent battery. As I think its mentioned above, the battery can go flat quite easily if not driven regularly and you have the smaller powered battery. Hope that's helpful. -

Hi all, just renewed my insurance and the service from Chris Knott was excellent. It's easy to complain when service isn't good so it's only right to call out good service as well. I would recommend contacting them for a quote if your looking to renew soon too. -
Toyota advertising standard specification which is not fitted to their car

Tint your windows and you need never take you hand off the wheel to touch that toggle. Surely a safety mod right there 🤔 -
Toyota advertising standard specification which is not fitted to their car

Auto hill hold did come on the later models, I tried it but couldn't get the hang of when it would and wouldn't hold, good old fashioned handbrake does the job 😁. Plus the dash light was very annoying. -
Ha ha, since when did they think Rays were standard then. If so I want mine 🤣
-
You did the right thing Vad. I went directly to Toyota after reading some other posts and getting fed up of the battery going flat on a brand new car. They responded very quickly and offered a free test at my local dealership at no cost.

Anyone any experience of Mitsubishi L200?
Shippers replied to Twigman's topic in Non GT86/BRZ General Chat
Fast German touring (estate) would be my shout 😀. Then I'm biased as I've got a BMW for lugging people and stuff about when it's too much for the 86. In M spec it's still fun enough to drive. Just my view 😀 -
Had a few days delay a couple of years back. Similar thing, I got stopped by some very friendly and understanding police officers 🤔. Luckily i had a copy of the documents on my phone, still didn't stop them giving me a 40 min 'chat' at the side of the road.
-
I agree with the above. Keep it standard but think about tyres. I found dropping the pressures worked well as they really heat up on track. Then just don't forget to check them before you drive home 😀
-
Looking good 😁. What is next on the wish list?

I had eibach springs which gave a 35mm lower ride. I found it too much for the poor roads we have and switched to coilovers set to 10mm lower than stock. The springs looked great but personally I would say stick to 20mm max like you are planning
-
Hi Sam, I'm assuming you are looking for some used ones but just to let you know I got mine from Fensport and they were excellent in advising on what to get. Delivery was super fast and I went with their recommendation of 20mm at the front and 25mm at the rear which turned out to be spot on. Just thought it worth sharing in case you do decide to go new.

I may have imagined it but are Toyota now doing a Brembo set up as an option on new GT86's. If so is it worth a visit to the dealer to see if they can also be fitted to previous models? Ps, yes dealer costs will be a factor im sure but equally 'factory' options are sometimes preferred by some for a host of reasons 😀
