@shiftspark yes planning on big power, in two stages, around 300bhp at first to get used to that power in RWD then step it up after that and see how far I get. Hence why I want to forge the engine. In terms of the supercharger/turbo debate, like you say I own both currently and both offer something different. Initial plan was avo turbo or HKS supercharger. However interested to look at other options now it looks like Cosworth are stepping up their power levels and also the TD turbo kit. So not 100% sure which route yet, I do like low down power as that's where I spend most of time rather than rev'ing the nuts off the car to get some power.

I've ran Ferodo 2500's on my last few cars and they work a treat each time.

Been speaking to Subaru UK and they say they won't announce anything until the new year. However a local dealership have said they expect something in the next week.

GT86 Turbo Kit & BRZ Turbo Kit from Tuning Developments
Tweedbean replied to Mike@TD.co.uk's topic in Tuning Developments
Are you able to share which exact Precision turbo you use in this kit? Thanks -
Quite possibly, lets wait and see.
-
Are there many people running the TD stage 1 or 2 kit?

Hi popped in to check up on another project and wondered how you were getting on with the GT86? Hopefully its treating you well, done much to it?

Thats good to hear, I now have two minis. Building a track focused Supercharged 2006 R53 and a 2014 2.0 turbo charged F56 Cooper S which I sold the GT86 to buy. With a remap and exhaust that's up to 300bhp with 460nm torque. Much cheaper to get that power over the GT86 which was the reason for the swap. Any updated photos of the GT86 with the changes? Im tempted to buy up a crash damaged GT86 and build that as another project alongside these two but also playing with chopping in the 2014 mini for a new Mustang GT.

For Sale GT86/BRZ Front wings/fenders
Tweedbean replied to Tweedbean's topic in For Sale GT86 / BRZ Parts
Sold pending collection -
For Sale are a pair of GT86/BRZ Front wings/fenders that I had purchased to get vented at some point however as I have sold the car I have no need for these now. These were originally off a Subaru BRZ which was stripped to fit carbon panels to hence why these were removed with under 1000 miles on the clock. Both are painted silver. Drivers Side - Like new and could be fitted straight to a car. £55 Passenger Side - Has been scratched in storage(See photo below) but no dents etc in the panel £40 Open to offers for the pair. I am happy to split if you are only after one and not the pair. Basically as I am inquisitive and with all this talk of founding fathers/mothers etc in another thread I went to look for some information on the club itself. Most forums I have used/administrated in the past have a thread with a brief description of the club, its history and an introduction to the moderators/admin/owners. Was there ever a mission statement created when you guys decided to create this forum and if so what was it? This all helps to give any new or potential members a good idea of what the forum is all about and where it came from.

Hi just a quick question I think I know the answer but I have a doubt in my head due to the BRZ having different lights to the GT86. Can anyone confirm if the BRZ and GT86 fenders/wings are the same? I have a pair off a BRZ that I am selling and I want to make sure they fit a GT86.

When I saw the initial concepts for the Subaru BRZ a few years ago I was really excited, but when it was actually released I was a little disappointed in terms of the headline performance figures. It had the looks but on paper at least it didn't have enough power especially when compared to MINI's I had owned. However after watching numerous reviews on the BRZ/GT86, especially Jeremy Clarkson and Chris Harris' ones as well as speaking to a number of owners I had to have one. It seems this car is bags of fun with stock power, but when the powered is increased via a turbo/supercharger the great chassis comes into its own. I have spent the last 6 months researching them while I parted out my clubman and pulled the money together to buy one. Weighing up the minor differences between the Subaru BRZ and Toyota GT86 I settled on the Toyota as I prefer the front bumper and interior trim. The Test Drive Before purchasing a test drive was a must. I drove one about a month ago which removed any fears I had about it being slow in stock form and since then I have been looking for a used example which would be a great base car to modify. The biggest learns for me on the test drive was this car has drama out of the box which my clubby couldn't offer without mods and it needs to be rev'd to get the most out of it. Stumbling block I was in the process of writing a new project thread a couple of weeks ago however even though I had placed a deposit with a dealership close to me for a GT86 in the morning morning, the dealerships up north where the car was located, decided to ignore this and sell it to someone else in the afternoon. As you can expect, I was not very happy and there is an ongoing complaint but the dealership I placed the deposit with have been great in handling the complaint. Locating the right one Before I had the money in place there were tonnes of these available over the winter and a great price, however come the day I am ready to pull the trigger, there are none. Requirements were pretty simple as they come fully loaded from the factory so they don't have many options. Must haves were manual, white or orange and low mileage. I had given 5 dealerships my details to watch out for cars coming in. Its took a lot of patience and not just buying one in the wrong colour just so I could have one. Many times I have considered buying one of the many black or red ones that keep coming up but I had my heart set on white/orange, so I stuck to my guns. I had many false starts but finally after the one I mentioned above fell through, straight away probably luck on their part, they managed to locate for me a second GT86 matching my requirements: -Pearl white -Manual -13 plate -9k on the clock -Sat nav which is a bonus It was a little over my price range but due to the complaint I managed to negotiate a decent price on it, knocking off a further £700. Funny thing is I have placed a deposit on the car and I am collecting it hopefully next monday with the clubman going in as a trade in, yet they haven't seen my car and I haven't seen theirs. However if the car isn't as described then I am fully entitled to a refund of the deposit so no real concern there. That works the same for my trade in, but at least they have seen photos of that. So hopefully on 23rd March I can report back with lots of photos of the car after collecting it. As some of you may have seen on Facebook, I am back in a MINI after only 6 months of owing a GT86. The 86 was a great car but I just wasn't into it like I should be. With my best friend losing his battle with cancer last week I learnt that life is too short and that I needed to change things if they weren't right and this is when my search started last Wednesday for a MINI. Here is the last picture of my 86 as I delivered it to the new owner: I was looking at two options either a GP1 or and R53 and a second car. I was avoiding a 2nd gen MINI due to the issues I had with the Clubby and I hadn't considered an F56 until I saw R99's F56 Cooper S for sale on Thursday. With this I forgot all about the GP's and R53's I had looked at and got straight on the phone to R99, a member of another forum I am on. I then spent the night researching F56's and what was available for them. At the same time I put the GT86 up for sale modified and sold it within 3 days. This meant I had the funds to purchase R99's F56, again one phone call later and I was planning my trip to Newcastle to pick it up. That was one hell of a journey but so worth it. Not only was the car fully spec'd from the factory, its was also loaded with lots of aftermarket parts, pretty much everything you can do to a F56 at the moment. As its me, I wont be leaving this car like this for long, I want to build on the great work by R99 and add my own stamp. After cleaning the car for the first time today I can say I do like the look of the white wheels and roof, but oh my god white wheels are a nightmare to clean so I feel these may change at some point. The F56 is a marmite car, just like the R56 when it first came out, some people are going to love it, others wont. I wasn't a big fan but seeing/driving this one I would advise you drive one before making up your mind. And that front end isn't photogenic I know but it looks great in the flesh. Tempted to do a little bit of debadging aswell on the rear end, its a shame that JCW one is moulded into the front grill, I may refit the Cooper S grill and switch the red trim onto that. This engine, a new BMW 2.0 turbo unit has plenty of tuning potential, with people seeing 300bhp from just a remap, I cant wait to see what will be available in 6-12 months time as this car is still relatively new. One thing for sure, this thing sounds epic, the exhaust has a remote control to switch between loud and quiet mode, although I can see that remote not being used too ofter I wish everyone the best with their builds on here and I will be popping back to keep an eye on Nige's build for sure. Spec from factory: The car was built to the following factory spec and it would seem R99 ticked every box he could (costing £27,462 when new): • 2014 F56 MINI Cooper S (2.0 turbo B48 engine) • Thunder Grey • White Roof / Mirrors • 18" Cone Spoke Alloy Wheels in White • Heated Leather Cross Punch Carbon Black / Carbon Black MINI Yours Off White Interior Pack (which consist of the following) • Interior trim (off white) • MINI Excitement Pack Media Pack XL (which consist of the following) • MINI Navigation System XL (larger screen & iDrive controls) • Enhanced Bluetooth with USB audio • MINI Connected XL Chilli Pack (which consist of the following) • Multifunction controls for s'wheel • Floor mats • Passenger seat height adjustment • Storage compartment pack • MINI Driving modes • Rain sensor with auto headlight activation • Air conditioning, dual zone automatic • Interior lights pack • LED fog lights The following Optional Extras were added to the build: • Sport Suspension • JCW Steering Wheel • Electric Folding Mirrors • JCW Roof Spoiler • Panoramic Electric Glass Sunroof • Darkened Rear Glass • Front Centre Armrest • Anthracite Headlining • Cruise Control with Brake Function • LED Headlights with Cornering function • Harman Kardon Hi-Fi (incredible sound) Current Modifications: • KW Suspension Variant 1 INOX Coilovers (full laser alignment completed at the same time) • Speedline Marmora 18x8 ET45 Alloy Wheels (finished in Ice White) • Michelin Pilot Super Sport 205/40/18 Tyres • Remus Valvetronic Sports Exhuast (with Bluetooth controlled ‘Bimodal’ valve and carbon fibre / titanium tips) • John Cooper Works Brembo Brake upgrade (4 piston calipers & 335x30mm front discs / red rear calipers) • GruppeM Carbon Fibre Air Intake (imported from Japan) • John Cooper Works Body Kit (incl JCW fog delete & JCW grille) • John Cooper Works PRO Rear Diffuser & Front Splitters • John Cooper Works PRO Carbon Fibre Bonnet Scoop • John Cooper Works Aluminium Gear Knob • Alcantara / Leather Flat Bottom Steering Wheel with Red Stitch (custom made using an original OEM steering wheel) • Colour Coded Chrome Trim (bumper chrome, headlight & taillight rings) The car when new was professionally detailed which consisted of a 2-stage machine polish and the GTechniq treatment on both the exterior & interior. It is clear it has been well looked after. Yes that was him The GP2 is a JCW with some pretty bits, plus it has the prince engine which I hate with a passion after a number of valve tensioners failing causing valves to hit Pistons etc my Clubby had that happen so I wouldn't go back there again. The GP2 has the revised design but I still wouldn't trust it, aiming for something to go pop. So it's an F56 for me. -

Over on the owners club, I will let them announce who they are. I want to thank everyone on here for their support over the last 6 months. The 86 is a great car but a death of a good friends this week has taught me to go with my heart and do what feels right. I will pop back when I collect my new car Thursday to show you the replacement. -
