  4. Well this isn't my first rodeo when it comes to these cars having owned two of its sister car the Toyota GT86. This purchase was a little unexpected and happened very quickly but I cant wait to get stuck into it as its definitely a project. So I've had a search saved in ebay for years now looking at salvaged BRZ's, however it always seems to be GT86 that come up cheap as the BRZ holds its value better due to there being fewer of them. Nothing significant has come of it until early last week when a 2013 Subaru BRZ with 41k on the clock popped up. It ticked all the boxes with heated half leathers, back 3/4's spotless, engine running, theres just the small matter of half the front end missing. It came up cheap so a quick conversation later to Turbo Monkeys in Burton who were selling it and I headed up there last Wednesday to see it. It was as described so I left a deposit and arranged a tow truck to collect it. It arrived today and I couldn't be happier. And before anyone asks the other cars I have aren't going anywhere this is a +1 project. Spec wise its stock, pearl white, manual, heated half leathers, CD player etc. It is a Cat S, I've seen why and will get it all checked out before it goes back on the road. So what are my plans, firstly acquire all the parts to rebuild it, I have a rad pack ready to go on which means its easier to move around. I've never attempted such a project before, I normally start with at least a complete car, so this will be challenge and I am expecting bumps along the way. Once I have all the parts I will fit as much as I can before it heads over to a specialist to ensure its all straight and lines up before everything is bolted down. Not sure where I am going with the car right now as theres so many options, but one thing I do know is it needs a facelift as those tail lights are really dated. So already have a list of parts to fit the 2017 facelift BRZ front end and I have 2017 style rear lights to be fitted later today. I do know It will be getting a full respray as I've not seen many bodyshops match the pearl paint to a standard I would be happy with, a colour change to something none Toyota/Subaru for sure. It also will be remaining stock body, no wide body kits here. I also have a HT Auto lip kit ready to go and a Top Sage rear diffuser lip to keep me ticking over while working on the boring stuff up front. I'm tempted to take the approach of building what Subaru would have done if they had built a proper BRZ STI. Yeah I had a similar experience with a mini where a pickup dropped a lump of concrete which proceeded to crack my sump and spill all the oil. Ha reading this back it sounds like I tailgate everyone with no stopping distance, not the case. 🤣

So its been a long time since I updated this thread, the house move took a lot longer than expected, we ended up selling our house but pulling out of the purchase due to being messed about for 7 months. We ended up purchasing another house in only 4 weeks. I have enjoyed driving the BRZ recently as it came out of storage as we had no where to keep it while we were in between houses. Certainly missed this car and went to commute in on Tuesday, when disaster struck midway through my commute. A lorry on the M6 dropped what I could only describe as some sort of tie down strap right in front of me, with no time to avoid it, my front driver side wheel went over it with a big bang, seconds later the front end felt very light so I pulled on to the hold shoulder to find this, note that chunk out the lip was cause by this, the wheels were perfect before I set out: Untitled by James Baker, on Flickr Untitled by James Baker, on Flickr There must have been a metal hook or something on the strap that burst my tyre and took a chunk out of the lip. Annoyingly no spare wheel mean't it was recovery time, I let them know the car was low with a front lip and they said no problem, will send a low loader. An hour later they turn up with a normal tow truck who could see straight away he had no chance. So they sent a second one and the guy was amazing, was used to moving some exotic low cars so had everything he needed. Many chocks of wood later and the BRZ was loaded: Untitled by James Baker, on Flickr He dropped me straight home and took just as much care getting it back off again. I have planned for a while to get air suspension for the BRZ and actually fitted it to my Mini as a test before I got a set for this and while stood at the side of the motorway I actually negotiated on a set of nearly new Air Lift Performance struts off a GT86 show car so we like new. I just need to pick up the management side of it now. Its the exact set up on my Mini so I know what to expect and for how I use/drive my cars its perfect for me: Untitled by James Baker, on Flickr I will get the car up on my quickjacks this week and get the wheel off to my local wheel place to fix the lip and fit a new tyre. Cant wait to get going on the air setup: Untitled by James Baker, on Flickr

Does air suspension ruin road feedback

Hi I haven't forgotten about this post, I was planning on waiting until I moved to my new house before working on the car, however the house move has been delayed so I've ended up fitting it last weekend. I am in the process of editing the install video for my youtube channel and will also be doing a first drive reaction video as I can honestly compare it to the previous setups I have had on the same car as previously it had BC coilovers and I have also driven it on stock suspension so I genuinely have something to compare it to unlike others that guess what its like from what they have read somewhere. On first impressions its a thumbs up, but I want to drive it more before I share my thoughts.

Does air suspension ruin road feedback

This is the exact reason I have a used(like new) air setup in the garage ready for my Mini R56. In the uk there is so many opinions flying around RE air, where 90% of those people have never driven a car with it installed. I’m looking to form my own opinions by installing it and giving it a go, if it’s rubbish I sell it for what I paid for it, but at least I know based on my own experience rather than someone else’s opinion. Air isn’t all about stretched tyres and 3 piece wheels. And if it’s any good I will be going for the same setup on my BRZ
