Sorry to hear is hasn't worked out for you mate, that's a real shame. I'm sure you'll enjoy your WRX, stay in touch!
-
Real shame, sorry to see that. Good luck in your quest to getting an R35, i'm on a similar long term quest myself

Look what the hailstones did to my car :-(

Did you have a coat of clear on top? If not that will probably help. -
Thanks for the info, will have a play about and report back.

Hello all, Been considering my options recently re: ECU flash options and have been looking at the OFT. Seems to be a cool little device but i'm wondering if anyone has used it in the UK/Europe and what they make of it? I'm a bit of a sucker for the 'open' aspect of the OFT but is it as good as EcuTek? Seems like they have added a lot of features such as launch control and flat foot shifting like the EcuTek has but would i have to use the OFT 'base map' and find a tuner to tweak it to optimise my mods? I certainly don't know enough to be tinkering myself. Would be keen to hear everyones thoughts. Cheers

I too had my rear lights replaced under warranty. Take some pics next time it happens, my dealer accepted and ordered new ones for me without even having seen the issue.
-
So could i just buy the EcuTek cable instead of the OFT?
-
The fact that you can un-marry the OFT from your car and sell it on is a big plus I think and if i did ever want to tweak stuff like you say then i could just crack on (once i know wtf i'm doing). I'll be sure to check out those forums, have done some reading on FT86 club and attempted to download the off the shelf maps but the zip failed to open when it finished, tried again and got a 404.

Thanks very much for that. -
Got into this a little while ago but was branded a weirdo by my gf and banned from watching it if she was there lol. Must pick it back up!

Ok got ya, re-read that and understood. Cool, so for the power you are making the pre SC spray is enough, i can dig that! So the only question that remains is does it make any more power? Which i guess is where the dynos will come in -

It's that bit i can't get my head round. Why would they do it pre SC if they could get it cooler after the SC and avoid all the questions of what wear/tear effects would have on the internals of the SC. It would seem a no brainer to move the injection to post SC if the gains/temps were better and would mean they don't have to answer all the questions about spraying meths into the SC? -

Aye sorry i didn't refresh when i got back from lunch. I also didn't consider the cooling effect of the meth/water on the SC's internals, which is also another good point. Starting to come round to meths = good for lowering temps. But then again, was this ever a debate? We are agreed that it is good for lowering the temp of the air going into the engine? -

Gutted lol. I'm now very keen to find out why the injectors are placed before the SC! -

Oh yea, right enough. In the pic knightryder (Kodename?) has posted the only difference is that its being injected after the throttlebody and not after the SC. Having thought a little bit more about it, surely once the air has been through the compressor it is how you would expect, compressed! Nice and thick and dense. If you were to insert the injector after the SC you may run the risk of leaking some of compressed air out? Or there is the general issue of do u really want to be making a hole in the pipe which has all the pressure? Chosenman - Indeed the pictures you have shown seem to indicate that they consistently seem to put the injector before the throttlebody so there must be a reason? Ask the guys at devil's own and see what they say? I'm quite proud of my boost/pressure leak theory so i'm hoping its that, but i'm sure it wont be -
Water Methanol Injection discussion

Aye, let's keep this discussion rational chaps/chapettes! Right ok, understood about after the SC is still before the engine. That's starting to make more sense to me now. So you're saying that once the air has gone through the charger then it will be hotter than when it went in? (the microwave example) That being the case then this would be a good argument for having it after the SC. So it would seem that it would be good to know the air flow temps before the SC and after (no meths) to see what bearing the charger has on temperature. And then to inject meth before and after to see which culminates in the coolest air temp going to engine? -

I was quite enjoying reading the viewpoints and discussions, how come the thread got closed? I know very little about how cars work but am learning and discussions like that one are really helpful I find. The meth injection before/after the SC i found pretty interesting... I thought the idea was to cool the air before it goes into the engine so that it combusts better? So wouldn't that rule out injecting the meth after the SC? I watched this video which i found to be quite good... Can we not keep this discussion open but maybe change the tone a wee bit to a more of a constructive discussion with rationale? Was making some very interesting reading! -
You would think that they would mention the aero benefits first as opposed to the styling if they really did all that much? And maybe some before and after figures perhaps?
-
Post a sound clip if you do try it, would be curious to see the difference!

Sick slides! Looked like so much fun! -
My apologies i did mean Dan i get confused because both their names have 3 letters (i'm a simple chap lol). And yea like you say there was no requirement to discuss but now i feel like I and all the other members have essentially just been farmed for targeted advertising etc with no benefit to the club other than Dan lining his pockets. I fully appreciate that adverts go hand in hand with stuff like this but i'm not cool with the members who have done so much and contributed time just for one man to profit. Not cool yo! In the words of my fellow countryman "It's for that reason, i'm out".

I would have liked to discuss the fate of GT86OC too but it seems that was never on the agenda for Dan* who was obviously acting in the interests of himself. Ps. First post. Hello!
