OEM PreFacelift Alloys - New/Mint condition - £150
james_ly replied to Leeky's topic in For Sale GT86 / BRZ Parts
I could take them for £100 if you need the space.. -
Isn't it the entire point of the car?

Worst I've driven has got to be the Smart car... had one as a courtesy car and thought hmm this has a surprisingly punchy engine as I joined the dual carriageway. But then the first corner I got to gave me a serious fright 😱

Nice review! Not really my kind of car, but great to see Toyota bringing more sports cars, just need a new MR2 now.
-
I think the Toyota prices go down when the car is 5 years old or so. So they're charging extra just because they can, as most people will want to keep main dealer history for first few years..

Wow, 3k is Ferrari exhaust money to me!
-
Interesting - luckily they're pretty cheap to experiment with. I'm really happy with the gearbox now, it's on par with the Boxster I had before.

So I’ve fitted these today. Big improvement! Very easy to fit, I’d say 30 minute job, and just a couple of sockets required. Makes the throttle more responsive which makes the gear change a lot nicer. And there’s less axle tramp on bumps. Basically, how the car should be from the factory. I only noticed a tiny bit of extra NVH, basically when lifting off with refs below 2k you get a whine that wasn’t there before. But, fine for a daily I reckon.

I find the gearchange quite tricky on this car... if you don't get the revs matched well it will crunch a bit. Feels like it was tuned more for driving fast than slow.

Everyone on the Internet seems to use Motul 300? Any reason to use Toyota OEM? Do I need to buy new washers or can they be reused?
-
Motul went in the other day, nice 30 mins job 👍 I'll probably leave the gearbox as is.

Brake pedal firm at first but goes soft if holding pressure

Respect! 👍 -
I read somewhere the facelift has a different final drive so the revs are higher.

I've used these on a previous car and they were a full on track pad - wouldn't recommend on the road due to the dust and pedal feel at low speed.

Exhausts are so expensive for these cars
-
I've been wondering about this as I'd like to keep the car long term. Is there anything I can do to protect things like exhaust bolts, suspension bolts etc..
-
Occasionally, when I lock the car (finger on the door sensor thing), it will beep at me, so I'll unlock and relock and it's fine. As far as I can tell I do the same every time, so what's happening?
-
Ah, I think that's it, I normally leave the key in my pocket which might be too close sometimes 👍

Recall issued on cars to have valve springs replaced 2012-2013
james_ly replied to Lauren's topic in Mechanical
I bought my car last month from Bristol North Motorline, they did the recall as part of the inspection. I've had no problems, you'd never know they touched it. -
Anyone have any feedback on these? The slop/throttle lag is the only thing I don't like about the car, if it can be fixed easily and cheaply then happy days.

Traded in my Porsche Boxster 986 last week, loving the 86 so far :)

Glad to hear people like orange. I like the red ones too but my MR2 is red.
