It went well I used this place: http://www.wheelrefurbishing.co.uk/?doing_wp_cron=1566893180.9950499534606933593750 They did a fantastic job. -
I'm confused....it seems there must be 2 different spec of rear brakes for our GT86s. How do I know which spec my brakes are? https://www.eurocarparts.com/brake-pads FYI I have a 2014 UK spec GT86

Weird - found chocking my car ON MY DRIVE this morning
Twigman posted a topic in Non GT86/BRZ General Chat
Does anyone have any idea what this is and why it might be chocking the near side rear wheel of my car ON MY DRIVE this morning? It seems to have been placed there in the middle of the night. Anyone any clue what's going on? -

FFS - so some scrote was trying to nick my TWS T66-Fs in the middle of the night? or perhaps the HKS catback i had fitted yesterday! Oh well - I now have a useful bit of kit. -
What did you settle for in the end? James at Amber reckons the Tomei UEL will fill the hole....does it not? And have you had any CEL as a result?
-
Thread resurrection time...... Just had an HKS Spec-L catback fitted - rest of zorst is std - but now my attention is turning to the torque hole and manifolds. (yes - I am probably doing this the wrong way round) UEL preferred as seems to fill the hole best and makes the burble. There don't seem to be any CATed UEL manifolds anymore (HKS don't seem to make their's anymore). Has anyone had any MOT emissions problems with just the OEM secondary CAT in their system? Toying with the idea of Tomei UEL (poss +overpipe-is it worth it?) Edit: Oh and any CEL problems? And how are they overcome?

It tends to happen 3500k and above. You say it doesn't happen unless under acceleration and doesn't happen if just revving while not in gear...sounds like a tin can? All symptoms of the gear linkage rattle. It doesn't happen all the time either, i suspect.
-
Is this the infamous gear linkage rattle? AFAIK there is no cure. It's a common thing.

Question in the title. percentage will do. Currently I'm insured through Sky insurance.....

How much do insurers load premiums for a catback?
Twigman replied to Twigman's topic in GT86/BRZ General Chat
oh yeah my wheels and a few cosmetic changes and fancy stereo upgrade are declared with no extra charge....i'm just considering a catback (on order) and was wondering what to expect when I ring the insurers. -

I'd be curious to see it. It's one thing that really gets on my tits about this car. I'll PM my email.

Me too - but I read on the USA forum that there is a fix...apparently fitting a fatter washer behind the split pin where the shifter joins the linkage fixes it. I've not had the time or inclination to strip out the centre console to try it...yet ...but the gearstick rattle is getting worse - kicks in at 4500rpm most noticeable in 3rd.

I got 2 sets of wheels under warranty for corrosion with my Celica Gen7. The second time they let me keep both sets (I paid for tyres) so when i sold the car it had a set of unused wheels on it - that certainly helped the car sell for top money.

Easy cure for the brake squeak is to copper grease the back of your pads. Works wonders.

Boot won't open - Getting fed up with owning this car
Twigman replied to Cerastes's topic in Mechanical
Mine always slides back. It's really annoying when you've got the back seat folded down and you're trying to load a spare set of wheels into the back on your own. My biggest gripe at the moment is the gear stick rattle when the revs hit about 4500rpm. It's getting worse and the car is now out of warranty so any fix would be at my own expense. I have read that fitting a thicker washer behind the split pin on the shifter joint fixes it but the idea of stripping out the centre console to just experiment really turns me off. I have two other gripes (possibly related to each other) , one of which which I have managed to fix (HURRAH!): My front wings started to sit proud of the doors and the bonnet sits higher than the wing on the driver's side. The sitting proud of the doors, which was getting worse by the day, took about 1 minute per side to fix!! There's a 10mm bolt in the door jamb near the bottom of the wing. Loosen it slightly, close the door, then carefully push the wing to line up with the door. Get someone to hold it there while you open the door and tighten the bolt. Job done.......as for the bonnet sitting proud of the wing on one side I suspect I'll need to reposition the hinge mounts but haven't bothered looking at them yet. -
I see you have a truck diffuser fitted. One of my concerns is the std rear black bit causing drag and rear lift when the exhaust is no longer routing air under it. i assume your diffuser prevents this- do you notice a difference?
