Just dont fit an Evo Ballistic fireball special.......then again Adrian's one is still "unexploded" so they cant all be bad I've got a Braille lightweight jobbie going on mine soon so I'll report back after its had some cold winters start ups to deal with.
-
Haha I can't work out the mobile version of this site! I'm surprised I can even post this up....

Looks terrific. I'm mad for 70s Porsche viper green....It'll only be a matter of time....(oh and money).

Just ordered a set of Tein Monosports and EDFC..
steveoexige replied to steveoexige's topic in Modifications
Hehe after reading some efficiency graphs for the turbo and factoring in the high compression I don't think lag will be an issue. Mapping starts next week so we'll soon see. -
As per the title I've taken the plunge and ordered a set of the new Tein Monosports and EDFC too. Fensport are on the case and fitting should be good for early June along with my Racer X adjustable lower control arms. I'll report back once its all done....cant wait as it should be a big improvement over my stock shocks with KW springs.

Same sump as me, nicely made and bloody good value too. Looking lurvly matey, a nice complete set of mods there. I'm still lacking coilovers, alloys and a bbk How many horses are you aiming for?
-
No but it sounds hairy. Can u post up the link?

Back on track.... I need a dry, straight road and some clean underwear. Even then it'll go something along the lines of...loud pedal down flat, wait (starts to boost), wait (bit more boost), wait (lots of boost)... waaaaaaaahhhh, Ppppppssssshhhhht....by which point I'll have covered 5m in half a heartbeat and be facing the wrong way.

Keethos hasn't asked for a thing in relation to either my original thread on the other side or this one. Much respect. I was the one who started the thread on the other forum and am furious it was shut down. Surely the point of a forum is for the members to discuss and contribute matters. Not be dictated to as to what we can or cannot discuss. Anyway their loss is this forums gain.

Fatter / taller tyres with a softer side wall. Longer travel shocks with sensible spring rates would help too. Best of all - fit an airbag suspension system - Rolls Royce soft and height adjustable 2 inches either way at the flick of a switch.
-
Nice set of mods there! Looking forward to your write up once its all on.

I also have the oem suspension (roll bars, springs, etc) and my oem exhaust system if you need any "oily" bits.
-
Keethos - a good post by you. If people want to help then only good can come of it. And on that note I'll be making a donation tom but in the meantime would having my oem gt86 fender garnishes help or has someone else already donated theirs?
-
Stu's closed the topic down on the "other" forum. Makes me think.....maybe I should stop posting over there and bring my thoughts/time/money/effort into modifying my '86 for the good of fellow enthusiasts to read about over to here.
-
Me being me I would also refuse any donations should someone offer however this is different. Some mates (OK fellow enthusiasts) wanting to help out is different - Keethos isnt asking for anything, we've gone to him. Hopefully by just sending over the money as a gift will make him think differently.

My turbo kit shoudn't be hard to fit - well the instructions make it sound easy (!) Don't suppose you fancy fitting one???? hehe

I've been waiting for a comparison to appear on one of the forums showing all the supercharger kits available today tested back to back on the same dyno. Incidentally the Sprintex kit is called the Innovate kit in the US. Makes for interesting reading: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=61589 Interestingly the intercooler and small 70mm pulley upgrade on the Innovate/Sprintex system only made 20hp and 15ftlbs torque difference which for those looking to buy this kit is something to bear in mind as there is a price difference between the I/C and non I/C kits. Now where's Pitman "eating popcorn" Emoticon ?
-
Nice one Dave. Will probably take you up on that mate.
-
Nice one. Keep us posted as i'm sooo confused as to what coilovers to get right now....
-
No the last Innovate (Sprintex) dyno plot is both intercooled and with a smaller 70mm pulley. Tuners comments were: "More costs (intercooler and pulley) and for a mere 20WHP and 15#s TQ difference makes this one of the worst price to performance options out there right now. Given the prices of the kit with the intercooler today, you'll be in turbo territory and hence have a wider and better range of performance offerings at your disposal." It's irrelevant whats available for sale in the UK as all the kits available to buy over the pond will ship here for somewhere in the region of £300 for the lot. I've also heard that if you ask the vendor nicely they'll put a value on the item of $500 too so you dont get hit with any unexpected customs charges. With the decent dollar to sterling rate I bought my entire turbo kit with uprated GTX billet turbo, plus uprated clutch and flywheel, 3inch overpipe/up pipe, larger baffled sump, fuel pump, injectors, etc, etc for approx £3k......it would have been £2k for the base turbo kit if I hadn't got carried away and added all the other supporting mods too. The UK tuners will still make their money as we will always need someone to fit it all and with a more cost effective route to buy the kits in the 1st place there should in theory be more kits for them to fit.

For those with Cobra non-resonated systems
steveoexige replied to Amazing Crow's topic in Modifications
Mine was also horribly loud until Mark supplied and fitted a custom resonated centre section. -
You are right in relation to the majority of sub £2k coilovers in that the higher the spring rate the stiffer the ride. With a decent coilover spring rates are only half the story. I was running 11kgs springs (with Nitron coil overs) on my M3 when others were on 8's (with KW's) and honestly my car felt soft. You have to factor in the spring rates and the valving of the particular coil over. Spring rates only alter the speed and travel of the coil over piston into the coil over body - the coil over valving and internals do the complicated bit.
-
haha and I thought I had a pair! I wouldn't have the bottle to go with green alloys although if I did it would be Viper green. As for blue it would have to be a pale/baby blue. I'm hoping to get confirmation of my order today for some TWS 18x9 alloys in flat gold.

Only just read all the thread, sorry mate - didn't realise its a smaller, chunkier wheel with an airbag. If you dont mind me asking how much was that? I'd like a quicker steering rack in the '86 and fitting a smaller steering wheel is almost as good I never got to drive Maz's car, hope to in the next week or so as I'm chomping at the bit to order my coil overs. From speaking to him though I'm almost sure I'll be going for the Hipermax SP coilovers which are still monotube design but have different valving and spring rates (8kg F & R) to the softer GT's. The SP's came out after the GT's and are more track focused. With all this Tein talk though I'm also looking at the Tein monoflex coilovers too......bloody nightmare - just when you think you've made a decision some bright spark makes you question everything
-
They improve the drive of the car in a similar way to the gearbox inserts albeit they remove the slop from the rear end of the car with zero increase in NVH. Honestly guys the sub frame inserts are a must do mod. Dirt cheap and take about 20 mins to fit yourself. if anyone fits them and isnt impressed i'll think of a forfeit....how about a youtube clip of me taking frank the lamb out for a high speed lap of my fav B road? (Altho he does dribble on the seats). Sorry not feeling the love for the steering wheel - it's a bit Graham Norton. How about getting your OE wheel wrapped in alcantara a la CSL?
