Hi Angelina, sorry yes I mean steam
-
Afternoon, I've read a few threads on here about this, but thought I would ask: I've had my GT86 a few months now and noticed a couple of times, what I hope, is condensation coming out of the exhaust. Today, probably the coldest and dampest day since I purchased my car, I noticed quite a thick amount of white condensation (steam - smoke?) coming out my exhaust for about 20 seconds after start up, it then reduced significantly, but it was still happening. I had a short 5 minute drive and when parked up I checked and still a small amount coming out, but hardly any. Also noticed after turning the engine off there was still a slight amount coming out for a short amount of time. Also getting close to the exhaust and it didn't smell like smoke. Does this sound like steam or something worth checking out?

Cheers everyone. Not really has much crunch, I should have said stiffness (mainly 2nd gear).
-
Mine doesn't seem too bad compared to some, but wondering when a gear change is crunchy, is that damaging the gear box?

2 weeks of ownership update. Absolutely love the car, as pretty much everyone on here does! So much fun to drive! If I'd designed a car myself it probably wouldn't be far off this one.

Boot won't open - Getting fed up with owning this car
PhilR replied to Cerastes's topic in Mechanical
What sort of issues are we talking when you say it's putting you off the car?? I'm a new owner. From what I've seen across the forums there are quite a few little annoying issues some people get, but they do seem little issues, not must fix big money ones. It's clear Toyota have gone cheap on some electrical/interior parts, but my hope with that is the rest of the money has gone into the mechanical side and that's the side you want reliable as it's costly to fix! -
I'd always get a car serviced every year, especially a high performance car like this. If the Toyota costs are too much, which I think they are, why not shop around some local garages or indie Toyota specialists? It will devalue the car when you come to see it too.

Interested to know what Wax everyone uses for dark colours? I've recently purchased a Dark Grey GT86.

Thank you, it says no outstanding recalls. What battery would you recommend upgrading to?
-
Thanks Lauren! Looks like I have the old battery, from what I've read I'm surprised it's lasted 5 years! I'll look at getting it changed as I won't be using daily. Im hoping I'm not affected by the recall as it said no outstanding recalls on the GOV MOT checker. But I'll double check. I

After months of looking I've finally picked myself up a 14 plate GT86 in Dark Grey. 36k miles on the clock. I went all the way to Bristol to get it. Loving the car so far! Quick question, how can you tell if the Panasonic battery has been upgraded to the 65amp one? Usually they have the amp written on the battery, but I can't see it. I won't be driving it everyday, so I want to make sure its going to stay charged.
