Hey guys, As I'm seriously considering entering the Snetterton round of the TSS just wondering if anyone had any opinions to the best, reasonably priced helmet (open face) to buy for it? I don't like the idea of renting one that countless other people have worn Also judging by the images I've looked at on the TSS site you don't need a timing plate for the front bumper, am I correct in thinking this? Finally, where is best to get the magnetic board to stick all the advertising stickers too and how much am I likely to need? or does anyone have any left that I could purchase? Thanks in advance, and if I don't end up doing Snetterton I'm definitely doing Croft so will still come in handy Jamie

The dealership have to prove that your modification has caused the damage to be able to reject the warranty claim on those grounds. They also have to prove it was not a manufacturing fault that caused the issue in the first place, from how you've described it with no external damage, I would like to say this is the case. Hold your ground with it Also different areas have different warranty zones, I.e an aftermarket exhaust system would not effect the paint cover, or the suspension. The dealer is just trying to get out of having to replace the parts, the cost of which they claim back through TGB who in turn claim it back from the manufacturing plant. Riceburner (Richard) may also be able to advise on your next steps with the dealer from his point of view as a dealer, mine is from a Quality Engineer for Toyota's point of view, unfortunately I only deal with engines so it wouldn't be me getting called out for this

Yeah I realised after typing maybe reasonably priced isn't the way to go... Obviously I'll be getting one to the required standard, just didn't know if anyone had opinions towards certain brands etc. I'm only 20minutes away from Demon Tweeks, so planning on going down and trying some on etc, will probably buy online though as they do seem to have some over inflated prices. Cheers for letting me know about the stickers and card I'm hoping I will be there, should be cheaper than the long weekend in Barcelona I was planning

This^^^^ Raising the rear edge of the bonnet changes increases the "swirling" at the trailing edge increasing the air pressure in the area making it harder for the warm, under bonnet air to escape. If you extended the bonnet trailing edge so it was closer to the windscreen and reduced the angle they intersect at you'd get the desired effect

I've got the positive shift bush thing as well and agree with what Keith has said, makes the gear change feel even nicer as well well worth the small cost for it

Happy birthday all

Didn't really know where to post this... So I'm one of the ones that turned from the dark side (I will happily call it that now), and I'm not meaning to cause a feud or anything it just really ground my gears (no offence to those suffering the gearbox issue ) But it really wound me up, maybe it's this guys posts, I think every topic he has started has annoyed me... But why start a topic called "things you don't like" My response was as follows... "Pointless threads in an owners club forum... Far too much complaining goes on here... I.e "my gearbox is stiff" "it rattles too much" "the battery goes flat" "the sound system is s**t" Man the f**k up, turn the stereo off and plan a B road route to drive the car like it was meant to, will solve all your problems. I did the above, thought the car was a little too soft for my likings so went ahead with all my mods to make it harsher. Now i have my perfect car" I'm not meaning to insight a difference between the two clubs but who else agrees?

Firstly welcome across, You should be fine lowering by around 25/30mm, I don't have the lips and it's a bit hard to get perspective of how big they are but my 86 is the best part of 50mm lower and only really scrapes when I'm being an idiot

I know there are ways round it , the issue I have is that there shouldn't need to be. It's a private message, if I had posted on the open forum with it then yes I could understand the correction...

Loving the banter in this thread So I realised my hipocoracy in posting this over here this morning once I'd sobered up, ah well. Posted a few more times on that thread tonight (drunk again), and also reviewed a PM I had sent to another member that messaged me requesting some technical advise re coilovers and the differences/capabilities between BC's and Tein Active Pros and noticing that my PM had been doctored so that the gt86.org.uk I had typed (I told him the best (only) advice was over here regarding the Teins, because it is) actually gets changed straight back to gt86ownerclub.co.uk... IN A F***ING PM, do they not understand the private part of that? BTW I have tested the above too make sure it wasn't because I was drunk So after the above I am taking Keiths advise and not bothering with that side at all. Keith I'm not trying to take over your position as forum drunk/clown btw

Haven't noticed any difference in induction noise with mine fitted other than the loss of the drone, but it did get done at the same time as the exhaust... I just wanted rid of the sound generator as just didn't think it sounded right

Haven't had the door cards off to have a look at the shape of the inner skin, but the outer I'd go for a 15cm*15cm square in the centre, should kill any vibration in that you may get. For the inner skin add a ring between the speaker plate and door and any largish area add a square as close to centre as possible.

With dynamat you don't need to cover the whole panel, there is a guide somewhere on the internet... Work out the area of the panel and it'll tell you what surface area of dynamat you need then stick that in the centre of the panel, anymore is overkill really. Not sure how well this method will work on the boot floor due its complex shape, but doors and body panels it is definitely the best way to go.

Right thought I'd start my first ever project thread as it's D-Day tomorrow for my 86. Although I find the car very capable, I still think it's a little bit of a compromise meant to cater for various different types of people, I wish to remove this compromise to make it my own This is what this car is supposed to be all about right? So everyones seen a white gt86 before but I love how shiney this picture is: Now the list of mods to be fitted: Pearl purple Compomotive MO5's BC Coilovers with 5kg Front & Rear spring rates Whiteline roll centre & bump steer correction Whiteline positive shift kit Superpro rear subframe inserts Superpro rear camber control bushes Cobra overpipe Custom 2.5" single exit exhaust Samco intake pipe with generator delete K&N panel filter Thanks to Fensport for the majority of bits, Toyokid for the coilovers and some guy from the other side for the overpipe. How they have spent the last 5months in my living room: All loaded up: Unfortunately I don't have the capability at my flat to make all the modifications myself so the car is booked in at a GT4 specialists in Blackburn where he'll be completing the exhaust whilst I get to do the majority of the other work, can not wait, it's been far too long since I've got my hands dirty messing with cars, brand new engines just don't cut it I shall try take as many pictures as possible, but the majority will be "after" images I presume. Ohhh will I be the first in the UK with a single exit exhaust bar the Fensport GT86R? haven't seen any others over here

In real life mine have a bit less stretch than it looks like in your image, they're definitely 7.5" though, its cast into the spokes I wasn't meaning any out and about pictures, just when there all parked up etc, seen some brilliant ones posted up on here. I really should get round to fixing my dslr then I won't have to rely on the phone camera. The fronts sit fairly flush with the arch, the rears are in set a bit and for looks need spacing out, but I don't want to effect the handling by changing the track ratio front to back. I have thought about fitting mudflaps to stop the increased amount of road grime, but I'd rather just clean it more often

The colour is exactly how I wanted it, I like the fact they look black unless there in the correct light, adds a bit more intrigue, especially when people don't realise the colour at first. At the moment with the weather there purple all the time though Hoping someone has a decent camera at the detailing day to get some proper pics The wheels are 7.5" Lauren, but they have seemed to have stretched the tyre a lot, I have noticed abit of extra stiffness in the ride from it, I turned the dampers down from 10 to 7 and all is fine for the road Absolutely loving the handling on it at the moment, plenty of grip and the back end will still come out if poked... Can't recommend the white line bump steer and roll centre correction kit enough, as I've dropped it a fair amount (best part of 50mm I think) it was well worth going for it I feel as the front end steering wise feels completely stock and that was the one thing I didn't want to change

Man it is stupidly hard to get a good picture of the car with the wheels on probably doesn't help that the iPhone camera doesn't like the contrast between the white and the colour... A couple of pics from YMS (neither took by me, just found them on facebook.

The wheels are so hard to get a good pic of... There were plenty of people there taking them so will hopefully find some on facebook

Mine spent the day at YMS next to Toyokids (his had left by the time I took a photo) drawing a lot of attention Did get a slap on the wrists at the end of the day though... a large field and the TC off was just too tempting

As will I

Phew, none in purple, I'm still safe
