Why Toyota pictures only? post all the pictures please, gutted I'm not going to make it this year
-
Ooo and the "top" of the head in which the valve train sits
-
Then this really is an oddly designed engine, the whole point of using the roller rocker is to reduce friction and wear as its in constant contact with cam, not requiring a shimmed clearance. I shall get on the Toyota techdocs system at somepoint and have a look and get back to you because I don't agree
-
The lash adjusters sit in an oil gallery to keep the pressure on the cam. Looking at the image its not a shim as your referring to, just looks like a stem cap; these aren't sized to allow adjustment, thats with the oil pressure behind the lash adjuster is for. The cap is there as a bridge between the hard valve and roller rocker surface.

They aren't a solid piece of metal, they're actually a two piece design with a tiny ceramic ball valve in the base of the inner
-
The posts you mention are hydraulic lash adjusters for the exact reason you mention please make sure you keep them upright when storing or the oil inside will drain and you'll have valve opening issues when you rebuild, we inject oil into them after they're fitted into the head. I'm quite surprised this engine is still using the parallel springs and thick rocker tbh, thought they would've switched to beehive for this engine as we are currently... Interesting looking at the retainers, collets and rockers they look identical to the ones used in the ZR engine, at least I'll be sorted if I ever need replacements, good old Toyota commonisation for cost reduction

Yes it was me I'm afraid, I have the in car video, just took ages to get onto photo bucket so I could embed and got bored of waiting then forgot about it :/

See I prefer a wide tyre on a narrow rim... Currently running 225's on the standard 7" wheel... Best bet is to try and drive as many different combinations as possible before forking out for them
-
Mines in the modifications section I think... It's linked in my signature if that's any help?
-
Seems to be a good representation of the 'Butterfly Effect'... Does this mean that by me killing that squirrel at rockingham I could've affected the ecosystem inside the circuit... I.e no squirrel to harvest the nuts so therefore loads of other, perhaps smaller, animals could survive?
-
Straight Line Junkie I had a look around that Evo, looked like it'd be pretty quick, didn't consider the driver could be crap
-
Ahhh not too far then, unfortunately when I'm in that area it's for work and I'm not allowed to use my own car I'm based near Chester so feel free to give me a shout if you're ever in the area.
-
No worries, whilst I run them I do agree that they're to wide to be optimal, and I will be changing after the winter. I won't be at the gprm meet unfortunately, it a work mates leaving do that I can't miss. I will be at the Xmas do though if I ever get round to booking the hotel/paying the deposit but I'll probably be getting the train down to save finding. A parking space. Where abouts are you based?

86WORX 1 YEAR SALE! Hundreds of JDM parts with HUGE discounts!
Jamie_GRMN replied to 86WORX's topic in 86WORX
Hmm Tom's rear lights, £250 that is mighty tempting, shame they don't make me go any faster :/ What are postage/customs to the UK likely to be? Also on your list the beatrush master cylinder stopper thing is down as in the sale, but there's no before price so has this been dropped or will it in the near future Noticed that the master cylinder stopper thing is actually down as a direct brake system incase it caused any confusion -
Maybe I am a nutter, but it seemed to work for me at rockingham, tyres say max of 52psi so still have some headroom
-
I'm running 225's on my standard wheels which are 7" for TSS and winter whilst my compomotives get refurbed again. Definitely not the ideal, on the road at the moment they are fine, doesn't feel any less sharp than before. On track I put 40psi cold into the fronts to help stop abit of the flex in the sidewall (Goodyear eagle F1's) and was very pleased with how it performed, was much better at rockingham than it was at croft when I had around 34psi in them. The F1's will be going on the compomotives after the refurb and some more suited track tyres on the standard. Depends on the use of the car and suspension set up, plus what you prefer handling wise. You're more than welcome to try mine if we're ever near each other.
-
Haha I've been thinking the same, but going down the harness bar route for the shoulder straps as I have never used the rear seats and probably never will. I know horizontal is the best for the straps but whats the max angle you can go to? Obviously has to be Takata

Introducing Rigid Collars - club offer
Jamie_GRMN replied to Burn! Motorsport's topic in Burn! Motorsport
Surely step 1 should include adjustment to standard settings / personal choice, then step 4 re-adjusting to the same setting as previously used otherwise you are adding an extra variable to the test. As long as the alignment is the same before and after you have a control. -
Can't be too far from me either (other direction though near Chester). Anyway welcome to the drivers club

Looks awesome, think I'll put one on my xmas list just so I can own a rocket bunny 86, if even it is a mini version
-
I would agree with the above if you're after a second hand one, but as the MY15 GT86 can be had without the rear spoiler (primo spec?) then you should be able to buy a new one without holes from a dealer at somepoint

How long do you plan to keep your 86/BRZ?
Jamie_GRMN replied to griffinnn's topic in GT86/BRZ General Chat
Current plan for mine is to have it until the PCP ends after three years (2 and a half to go) and return to a GT4 but I said I'd never sell my old one and that's gone to forward the 86 so just going to see what happens I think. March 2017 is too far away at the moment to even think about what's going to happen -
I definitely recommend the RCA's for a drop that much, I think I'm somewhere between the 40mm and 50mm mark, and have felt no increased bump steer or handling issues, steering still feels like it did on standard suspension Don't raise it, decrease the incline on the drive
-
Looks awesome mate, we need a trip out round the horseshoe pass / Evo triangle somepoint The images make it look like same height as mine (wheel/arch), and im on 17's Would definitely go for some RCA's if you haven't already... Hmm white, low, and a custom exhaust, must be something to do with living around Chester
