Fuel Coffee House meet West Sussex - report

(Sorry, double posting here and in original announcement). Agreed. Thanks, Subota Boy. Had a great time. Lovely to meet everyone, and see Lee again. Cool little place in the gorgeous Sussex countryside. Everyone I've met in this group is so friendly. I've been to other social gatherings organised on Meetup, for example, and people aren't usually this friendly. Perhaps there is something about 86 owners? Also super lovely to meet the other ladies who attended! The cars look great! -

That is confusing, because they (Adrian Flux) quoted me over £2k. My car is totally stock, 2013. I am female, 52, 10 years NCB, no tickets, drive less than 7k miles per year (social use only), and park in a locked private car park. I almost fell out of my chair!

Female Race Car Driver Killed in USA
CherryBomb replied to CherryBomb's topic in Non GT86/BRZ General Chat
Her death brings up some philisophical questions for me about why people take such risks. We humans go to any lengths to protect ourselves, stay safe, and survive, yet many do daring things that undoubtedly will lead to harm or death. I guess it's that adventurous spirit that moves society forwards. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. But what's really gained from driving fast? What do you guys think about this? -
Female Race Car Driver Killed in USA

It is a shame. In America (and probably other places, too), the bikers always used to say, "Live fast or die." The only consolation is that at least she died doing what makes her happy. -
Welcome, Scott. Congratualtions on your purchase! You will have a blast with your car, especially if you do mods. Everyone I've met here so far (I'm a newbie, too) has been very welcoming and friendly. Hope to meet you on the 7th. Have fun!

Might make it. I will look at google traffic and see what the situation is. If not too bad, would be there around 8:15pm.

Wow, I had a ball today! So great to meet everyone who was there. Such a lovely, friendly group of folk. Thanks to everyone for being so welcoming and helpful. I really appreciate it! I didn't get home until 2:30. Aarggh. My TomTom took me home via the M25. I didn't realise it until I was past any turn-offs. I don't know why I didn't follow Lee and Reece (I really enjoying the sound and fire show, Reece!) What was I thinking? Naughty TomTom. And then, get this, I missed my turn TWICE, and ended up at Lakeside, back in the thick of stand-still traffic. lolol. What am I like? Anyway, it was so much fun. I had such a blast in the convoy of 86's. I'm sure I'm crispy-fried, but oh well. Looking forward to seeing you all again and meeting others. Vroom, vroom!

I'll be there, too.

Oh my gosh, I'm so dingy! 🙄 It only just occured to me that this is an event to display our cars. I was thinking this was a spectator event. Sometimes I do wonder about myself! My interest was in meeting up and socialising. The thing is, my car is in no condition to show off. It needs detailed and the paint needs corrected. Is there a place off to the side where I can leave my car, parked in shame, while I hang out and visit?
-
Ok, cool. Thanks.
-
I can find the venue. I just didn't know if you met up inside somewhere or just hung out outside or how big the place is or what. But I'm probably overthinking it. I will just show up and look for the coolest cars there, haha.

From east London, in the Docklands.

Hiya. I'm Annie. I bought my car 10 days ago and I absolutely love it. Just wanted to say hello and that I'm looking forward to meeting other members.
-
Makes perfect sense. And that's the plan, really. I'm quite happy with the car as it is. I didn't realise about the tyres, though. I sort of thought you had to have track tyres to go to the track. Thanks for the info.
-
I'd like to go to this. I don't know anyone here yet, so how do I find you guys? Do you all meet up at a particular location there?
-
So far, no plans for mods. I'm quite happy with it the way it is. I'm sure over time, as I learn more there will be things I want to do. Maybe tune it at some point, or, if fortunes flow, maybe a supercharger. Probably the first thing I should do is go get some track tyres and practice driving this thing, haha.

Hi Gray. Thanks!

Yeah, it's not great, is it? I haven't been to Ace yet. Have wanted to go for a long time, but yeah, difficult to get to. Great photo! Loving your red car

That sounds amazing. You going to any more?
