Welcome from another 2017 owner. It certainly is a useful update. Mine is still 100% stock, as it's my daily driver.
-
There are a few videos on YouTube. I liked these the most:
-
A few years ago I repaired a tiny chip with superglue. After thorough cleaning I put a few tiny drops onto the chipped spot and left it there for about an hour. Then I topped it up and waited for several hours, till it was fully hardened. I cut off the excess glue with a razor blade and polished it with a slightly abrasive car polish. Worked very well. BUT, if it can be done by a professional for free, then that's the preferred way.

So now it comes with Pilot Sport 4 tyres...
-
I think the car looks very good the way it is. A subtle wing wouldn't hurt, however.
-
Pricewise the width of the tyre doesn't make any difference, over here in The Netherlands. It'll be around 100 Euros each. In Germany I can get them for about 85 Euros, but then I'll have to drive an extra 160 miles or so. 225 would make the car look a tiny bit better, I guess.
-
PS4's for me too. Not yet sure about the size, however. The Primacy tyres still aren't worn, but after a year I hate them in wet and cold conditions.

Initially started looking at Auris's and Corolla's...Only went and bought a bloody GT86 didn't I?! 😁

Welcome! 😎 I'm 20 years older than you and bought a GT86 about a year ago. It's my 18th car, if I remember well. 😁 I've owned everything from a Datsun 120Y to a Lexus GS430... -
Hi Maarten! Great to meet another Dutch car enthusiast on the forum! I'm located just a few km from the official lowest point of our car-hating country. My GT86 is still completely in stock condition.
-
Almost forgot this thread. Let's watch a few hotrods...

Besides a car enthusiast, I'm also a hobby musician. Mainly playing the bass guitar, my ears are trained to pick out the low frequencies. Imagine the shock and horror when I heard the car stereo for the first time. On the other hand, Toyota/Subaru offer a fun car, designed for the active driver, at a fair price. The money went where it should have gone, into the chassis and drive train.
-
Those are rubbish, also in my '17 86.
-
I can't see any advantage in different tyre sizes front to rear. The car hasn't been set up for different tyre widths and heights.
-
Last week I drove an almost new Auris, provided by the garage where my GT86 was for service. First thing I noticed, was the synthetic feel of brakes and steering. So kudos for the GT86.

No blue edition here. I guess the first print of the manual is wrong.
-
Great, I didn't know! I suppose it's somewhere on the inside? Meanwhile I found a slightly newer Manual of the 2017 MY, at the site of the importer. This manual reads 17 x 7 J. I guess the early manual is wrong, as all other versions mention 7".
-
Would be interesting to know.
-
My car is in my profile pic. 😁
-
Hereunder I attached a copy of the relevant specifications page, as found in the car manual. It's in Dutch, but I'm sure you'll find "17 x 7 1/2 J" right from "Wielmaat".
-
On a 7" rim a 225 mm tyre is possible, but 7.5" or larger is preferred. The circumference will increase by 1.4%, so 100 mph will become 101.4 mph. No problem in my opinion. By the way, I just checked the specs of my 2017 GT86 and found out that the rim size is specified to be 7.5j. I wonder if this is part of the upgrade...

Red 2013 GT86 perfected for fast road use by Rally Prep £12000

Your car looks stunning! If I were British and didn't own a GT86 yet, I'd certainly consider it. Good luck selling it! 👍 -
Reminds me of my Alfa Romeo 164 V6, back in the day. Something had come loose inside a muffler, making a similar noise.

Agreed, but just one small country doesn't make notable difference. The majority of this tax money doesn't even go to infrastructure and/or environmental projects.
