GT86 lightweight flywheel and lightweight pulley
smudge replied to j@cko0Oo's topic in GT86/BRZ General Chat
What? -
Reason I say propshaft is I remember Keith complaining of vibrations along the car when he fitted the lighter prop on the automatic, which doesn't work for some reason, but manual is fine? With the prop being so long and going the majority of the length of the car, this is what I think would cause the vibrations to "move towards the rear" at higher speed
-
If the vibration moves around I'd suspect the prop then (I called it the driveshaft earlier) Time to upgrade to the aluminium/carbon fibre version?
-
Not sure if sarcasm....
-
Let's hope the vibration is just the wheel as you say Lee, and not as a result of that knock on the driveshaft or diff...
-
Bet that sounded fun on the way home lol
-
You had to ask, didn't you...
-
How the f*ck did you hit that?!
-
Silly question, but what exactly is there? Any more info?
-
What exactly does this include and what are the capabilities Nigel?

Depends on your level of skill With all the drivers aids on, you get little to no slip until the car cuts the power and brings you back into line With the TCS button pushed you get a tiny bit more slip, but not enough to have some real fun before the computers shut you down With everything off (hold the TCS button for a few seconds) you get no aids to help you, so you're on your own and free to enjoy the 86's perfect handling setup just take your time to learn it and the spiral of death hopefully won't ever come -

No, even if you're driving perfectly sensible on the motorway at a sensible speed, in the dry, the car will just suddenly whip sideways from underneath you and send you into a spiral of death... -
I know some on here like Toyotas AND Mustangs....

Shots fired... Nice work Mike -
Not that I don't sympathise with you but being all gloomy about it isn't the way to go...so you've got an issue. It's not exactly the worst thing in the world
-
I was going to say something about ABS as mine did this and occasionally flashes the TCS light up and then keeps the EML on for a while if I give the car a boot Mark at Abbey diagnosed the error code as something on the ABS ECU, but it's so temperamental that it's nothing really worth worrying about You could always try a different dealer that maybe a little further away but still able to help you?
-
Just be sure to take it to a reputable garage to get them fitted! Don't go back to the 1st one
-
Not the worst outcome in the world then mate, glad you got it sorted
-
L should definitely be on the left of the car, or the right hand side of the bonnet if you're looking at it from the front of the car

Wouldn't be surprised if someone has tried to claim in America... But yes, it's great to have a car that you're actually able to have some fun in! -
Can I ask why specifically you want the Cosworth? There are a lot of new kits emerging at the moment/beginning of next year (Harrop, Edelbrock) as well as a lot of other kits that have been fitted to a number of cars (AVO turbo, Sprintex, HKS)

The time has come for me to look at some proper racing seats and harnesses, with me hopefully entering Time Attack and maybe 1 or 2 other race series next year along with TSS obviously I've never had proper racing seats, so I have no clue what I'm looking for. Obviously, I want something safe (pretty much all decent brands are good for this, right?), stylish but not breaking the bank. So I think Brides are sadly out of the equation I've been looking at the likes of Corbeau, Cobra, Sparco etc - any recommendations on these or other brands? Few questions I've got: 1. Seats - I ideally want matching seats rather than just the 1 for the driver. Could I get a fixed seat for me and a reclining seat for the passenger so I can still put stuff on the back seats when travelling? 2. Harnesses - I only need a 4 point harness I assume? 6 point seems OTT 3. Attaching harnesses - I haven't yet come across a cage that allows you to keep the back seats in place, which I want as I do use them sometimes and I don't want to go into the pro class at TSS for shedding weight. Would a harness bar be worthwhile to attach the straps to? Thanks in advance

Sure I read something about distance from seat to mounting point too. Ah well Will post up pictures of my choice when it's all confirmed
-
Isn't having the straps that long to the mounting point a bit frowned upon though? Think I've made my mind up after visiting GSM Performance today and having a try of a few seats. Just need to do some measurements to make sure and then I'll be ordering soon
