Since I first saw this advertised back in September 2014, I've been gearing up to take part in Pure Rally UK which is essentially a scaled down version of the Gumball Rally for the UK. http://www.purerally.co.uk/ This involves a gruelling journey of over 1,000miles in just 4 days up and down the UK, broken up by go karting, parties every night and a full team of staff to ensure you're experience is the best it can be. Starting from Ace Café in West London on Friday 1st May, we then venture to: Cardiff Manchester (2nd May) Edinburgh (3rd May) and back to London (4th May) Luckily I'll have a co-driver to share some of the driving, but nevertheless it's still a heck of a journey! The car is currently being serviced at Abbey Motorsport to ensure she's all good to go for her 1,000 mile tour. Baring in mind that I don't even do 1,000 miles in a month, this is very different to the norm for my car. I'm have no doubts it'll be a stroll in the park for the GT86, but with the likes of Aston Martin V12's, BMW M5's, Porsche 911's and a bunch of other insanely quick cars, she will be tested along the way. So, I thought I'd make a little "diary" of my experience. I know the guys that run it really well and this is their biggest year by far. But with plans for another 3 UK rallies in 2015, a London to Paris to Barcelona run and possibly an American Rally in 2016, these events will just get bigger and better. I'll be updating this later on in the week with the car all stickered up and ready to go and then making updates along the way (when I manage to...) so you can all keep a lookout for me or any of the other Pure Rally cars over the weekend. I'm doing this with 3 of my closest friends and we've all put a lot of time, effort and money into making sure we do this in style

Why wouldn't you be eligible? -
£7,000 to buy more toys and mods to make the car your own!

I think I should be selected as my car had been highly modified, but with my own unique touch. The supercharger adds the power that I've always wanted from the car, and the exterior modifications make it an eye-catching spectacle whether it's stationary or on the move. All mods are done with a purpose, either to improve power, handling or purely for aesthetics -
This weekend was Part 2 of my UK tour, venturing from Ace Café in London again to: Birmingham Liverpool Newcastle On this rally, we were asked to produce the official video after our last amateur effort hit over 20,000 views in just over 2 weeks! Although we were technically working, the people really made this one something special. Everyone was a unit from the off and it felt like a big family of car nutters rather than a random group of people. We had an amazing mix of cars as usual: Nissan GTR Aston Martin Vanquish Ferrari 458 Spyder Ferrari F430 Audi RS4 Audi RS5 BMW M6 BMW M5 Subaru Impreza STi Nissan 370z Range Rover Sport Such a wide range of cars, all driven by like-minded people Once again the GT86 got a lot of attention, I nearly had to sign over the V5 after one of the driver's Mrs wanted to buy it off me! The car was once again tested in all aspects, long distance cruising, full throttle sprints, twisty B roads, even a tiny bit of off-roading in some places! Simply one of the best weekends of my life driving some of the UK's best roads Video of the car park at Newcastle http://vid270.photobucket.com/albums/jj101/smudge_don/GT86/Pure%20Rally%202015/20150524_195123_zpsyfwtnghu.mp4 And a video showing some "spirited driving" through the Welsh valleys on the way to Snowdonia. All within the legal speed limit of course http://vid270.photobucket.com/albums/jj101/smudge_don/GT86/Pure%20Rally%202015/VID-20150523-WA0008_zpsmfxuq8ol.mp4

What exhaust mods do you have?

It's those half arches that really annoy me! Why would you want to cover half a wheel and leave the rest exposed?! Not only does it look wank but it'll through stones all down the side of your car Still, impressive work Nige. Even if I'm not a fan of the kit

Came back from the office to find this I can only assume that someone has knocked/stepped on it as Tiger Seal doesn't just unstick itself. Pissed off is an understatement So I got some masking tape to bodge it back together so I could drive home She's now undergoing surgery overnight again to get it ready for the rally in the morning. Good news is that the correct number turned up (they sent me 69 before) So from one side she looks alright But I won't be able to clean her before we go...so a bit f*cked off right now. Hopefully it sticks and I can use plenty of quick detailer in the morning

Just to reiterate James' point, lightweight pulleys aren't really recommended for any boosted setup NA cars however, will benefit greatly from such a simple modification

255/35 on my 9.5's Mark
-
On a cold start my oil pressure gauge is showing around 120-130 psi
-
Almost identical to my Sprintex https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dIMNoWMGBaQ
-
And to add onto that, the difference is often negligible. Not to mention the fact that each engine will run differently and respond differently to modifications Ideally, you need to test them all out on your own car, but I know that's not practical I'm hoping Mark @ Abbey will let me have a play with some of the bits he got in recently to see what's best for my car

I can't seem to see the graphs on that FT86 thread
-
Why would it? The main sound deadening is in the resonator in the mid pipe and the back box I have a straight through mid pipe into an invidia back box and a decathlon manifold up front
-
Adrian not Mike, and I'd have my resonator in for TSS anyway otherwise I'd be way over the noise limit
-
You can hear me from 2 miles away according to a friend of mine so nerrrr Lovely piece of kit though I wonder what difference having the sports cat in the manifold (like you) or the front pipe (like me with a Berk HFC) makes to noise/power?
-
Exactly that Just go on the website and look at the ones you want to do I'm on another this weekend but will mainly be filming stuff as we've been given the task to produce the official video. Our last one with only about 3 hours worth of editing done already has 17,000 views in just over a week so can't be too bad at it!

The HKS stroker kit is the way forward for me I think Extra capacity and a stronger crank. Be silly not to
-
It all depends what you want from the wheels Purely aesthetics? Do you want more rubber on the tarmac? Do you want to really push the limits of the size you can fit? Do you want lightweight?
-
The 210 is at it's limit on mine and I want more The noise is too addictive to give up so the 335 is the route for me to go down, albeit a lot less efficient than the likes of a HKS v2 or a turbo option Been doing my research on building the engine 1st, and the numbers just keep adding up of course! Nearing on double figures for the thousands if I do it all how I want....*gulp*
-
8" isn't the offset The numbers for wheels are as follows: 17"/18" = diameter of the wheel 7"/8" or sometimes 7J/8J = width of the wheel Offset is then a number in double figures, usually between 30 and 50 for our cars, which will give you how much the wheel will stick out when botled onto the hub A useful comparison guide can be found here: http://www.1010tires.com/Tools/Wheel-Offset-Calculator I'm on 18" x 9.5J wheels, offset ET40 The wider the wheel, the more it sticks out obviously, so you want a HIGHER ET to counteract this as the higher the offset number, the more the wheel sits inside the arch However, you also have to think about inside the arch to make sure the inside of the rim doesn't catch the suspension So, I'd 1st of all find a set of wheels that you like, find the size you want (usually 17" or 18") and then you can look at widths and offsets to make it sit nicely
-
Don't believe so, everyone is sort of watching what the guys in the States are doing Mark and I are in talks to do a 335 build on mine later this year if finances fall into place. Whilst we both know what's needed, it's still a bit of an experiment really
-
The 210 kit is pretty much at the limit at 1bar of boost as Mark said If you're wanting more, you're looking at other options of FI
